Here is the manufacturer's website. It really doesn't say what it's made of, though, so I guess it's a proprietary material. I also read the following here on Karen Pryor's site: and

Dead ringer? How rooood! Alrighty, what did YOU do? Other than wave at PAX, then moon her, groove, bellydance then collapse in a fit of giggles? Was it ... circus tricks? Freestyle doggy dancing? Herding? Canine frisbee? I'm running out of guesses ...

Was the second emoticon a naughty one? :p What did PAX do, or not do?

Hi jedda . Welcome to DOL. My 8yo cattle dog cross German shepherd (we think) had a lump tested and then removed last October. It turned out to be a grade 3 MCT for which they managed to get clean margins. It was in a pretty good spot, past the ribs but before the hips, so plenty of flesh was taken. Touch wood, we haven't found any lumps since, which amazes me. all my reading indicated that a grade 3 MCT was a death sentence, but Jack is going really well. I was already feeding him the BARF diet of an evening, but he has dry food in the morning. We've almost (finally) finished his dry food and then it will be raw all the way for him. I now add vitamin C, omega 3/6/9 oil, Joint Guard, brewer's yeast and a few other bits and bobs to the BARF mix, as well as growing most of the veges that go into the pulp. Staffyluv and dogsbesotted have both been towers of strength for me, when I thought that worst. Now we're all just enjoying each day that we have with our dogs that little bit more, I guess All the best to you, Jedda and the other hounds.

Sashas Blend, Joint Guard, Or Something Else?
Mooper replied to a topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My 8yo dog has been on Joint Guard for a few months now and is doing really well on it. My vet recommended this product, and we haven't tried anything else as it seems to be working. No more lameness or hobbling after a long walk or offlead romp. I believe Sasha's Blend is pretty stinky? So some dogs will turn their noses up at it. Joint Guard doesn't smell. I can sprinkle it on a chicken carcass and my dog will still wolf it all down happily. Perhaps that's just because he's a greedy pig -
I think part of the issue is that he got used to you being home all the time, and someone has to be the breadwinner, so you've gone to work. Much as Cody would be a good worker, he lacks opposable thumbs. My uneducated guess is that he's got his nose a little out-of-joint, and it may be a matter of time before he adapts. I guess a morning walk is out of the question because of your ugly o'clock start and his hip troubles. During times when others are in the house, can you implore them to spend some time with him? It could be as simple as a game of tug, some grooming, a quick obedience session with treats that would form part of his meal anyway ... A Buster Cube with kibble works a treat to keep Jack occupied as we leave each morning (once the doofus worked out how to use it ). Cody is smarter, so he'll be fine Jack's kibble should finally run out soon, and then he'll be on an all-raw diet so I'll spread the chicken necks or wings around the yard. A chunky piece of dried liver pushhhhhhed into his Kong will also keep him occupied for ages as he tries to extract it. Do you still have your clamshell and some spare builder's sand? Maybe burying some goodies in there of a morning will help, too. Try to get the last person leaving the house to do it. Hope some of that helps ...

Hi stonelizard :D There are loads of Canberrans on DOL. They're just working harder than me, so they haven't seen your post yet There are quite a few grooming salons around, too. I have a dog that doesn't need professional grooming, so I don't know them all that well One DOL member, Vehs, works as a groomer at Dog World in Hume and will know of many other salons around town as well. She'll probably pop her head in here after work. You might also be interested in contacting Capital Grooming to see what sort of skills they're after and whether they may be interested in hiring you. Let us know if you come back to Canberra! We're a sociable mob :D

Tellington Touch Workshop

I'm skint with no free time, but will bump this in case some other locals are keen. Thanks for mentioning it -
The family who owned Jack before we adopted him had two kids under 4yo. They obviously "shared" their Vegemite soldiers with Jack because he will be right there beside you as you put the first scraping of Vegemite on your toast! We have never given him any. We're meanies. :D No, that's not true. We never give him any morsel of food that we're eating because we can't stand a dog that begs for food. But he has had Vegemite thinly spread on cheese chunks stuffed in his Kong.

I'm sure you'll find a buyer here, if not locally to you! I won't have the money for months yet :D
-
Thanks for your learned opinions (unlike mine ) I guess it depends how much use it has had, and what condition the lenses etc are in, and I couldn't get in to view the camera for myself so it would be risky. I'll keep checking the local classifieds for a decent camera when someone else is upgrading

RIP Harvey, knowing that you were loved by all of your fan club. How tragic
-
That's the best price I know of, Westiemum, and I think it was because you mentioned it on DOL that I found it! So thanks
-
The camera I mentioned above went for $396 inc buyer's premium! If a new 350D is $400USD as kja said, why would you bother with a used 300D?
-
I was looking at this one but it's already up to $263 and still has t12.5% buyers' premium on top of that, making it $296ish so far. So it's a no-go for me. I presume the 18-55mm lens is standard? I'll save up and get a newer digital SLR another time, I think. We want to have one before we do our Tassie trip when I (eventually) finish uni.

My heart was in my mouth as I read this thread. What a shock to lose Pru so quickly, and so young I'm terribly sorry she had to go so soon, cjm. Thinking of you.
-
Jack won't eat hearts, liver or kidneys whole. He licks them and rolls in them instead But if I buy whatever I can get cheaply, and use the Bamix to puree it, then add it to his weekly BARF mix it goes down no worries. So I guess he gets a small quantity of offal every night or two.

Oh, no, Abz. It must be so hard to say goodbye after growing up together. RIP Ruby

Oh, bugger At least it was quick. It sounds like Harry packed a lot of life into his 12 months  Condolences to your friend and their family.
