Unfortunately with a trailer and 5 dogs, 3 people it's not so easy. I think I need to downsize lol.

I mentioned something like this earlier, I think it would be a great idea!! Not only for the landlord but as a tenant I would love to have some insurance in case any damage occured from the animals (so far so good lol but we did have a dog go through a window some years back, paid for it to be repaired no worries but accidents like that can happen. Or when one of the dogs got impaled on a steel bar, if he'd gotten onto the carpet with all the blood it could have been a big problem to clean up (again would be happy to pay the repair but having insurance as a backup would be great).

If I bred a dog, sent it interstate or overseas and it's new owners had it debarked, that dog could never again be exhibited in Victoria. Its like a person going overseas and having a procedure that is illegal in Victoria done (say Late stage abortion for eg) then returning home and being punished for it. It makes no effing sense! And must surely be a breach of our personal freedoms? Is the legislation even legal, I mean really? Also, did we ever find out the definition of exhibit in regard to this legislation???

I will have to pop over from ring one and say hello....what will you be wearing? Not sure ATM lol. But my polar fleece has my prefix on it We have Border Terriers and a sable and white collie smooth and will be with a black & white Lowchen so not hard to miss easier for you to spot us than trying to workout who is who in the pugs Can't even tell you which ring we will be at yet. LOL too hot for a polar fleece, but I saw you in the gazebo near my car....I was going to say hello after Pugs but by that time I was hot and shitty cos it was hot and I am all sunburnt. And to think in the winter Qld was looking good...no way!. Lol next time! How did you go? I was so cranky this morning when we rocked up at 8 and there was really nowhere for the gazebo- honestly as much as I love this show I don't know if I'll be back next year, it was ridiculous how crowded it was, there used to be gazebo space between the rings???!!! And to have cars etc parked behind 1 row of gazebos was crappy. Dangerous, unfair and annoying for those who got there early and wanted to leave early! Definitely agree they are giving us less and less space..... Obs I didn't watch Group 5 specials but the blue Sheltie with the large black patch (sorry crappy description lol) got I think Aus bred in group, maybe RUIG?

Hi SilverHaze, there is usually a fair amount of space for camping, as it's not allocated. But I'm not sure about power etc as I've never used it. Just gotta watch out for the cars rocking up inthe morning!!

I don't think so..... Thefirst time I camped (the year we were set up with Jenny & Kate), it wasn't in the schedule because it was only after talking with Jenny that I found out you could camp. But I will try and find last years gazette and see what it says..... I so hope we are allowed!!

Steve, suffice to say that yes, you are correct in saying that the RSPCA were simply doing what they have full authority to do under current legislation but it was none other than the RSPCA that was wholly responsible for bringing in such a legislation in the very first place. However, it was Vicdogs who signed off on it and its their dogs, their members and their dog shows. Steve, what you mean in that Vicdogs "signed off on it" ???? Is that to say that they agreed to the debarking law or that they simply "dobbed" the lady in to the RSPCA??? Dogs Vic did nothing to stop these laws beings passed and they did nothing to inform their members of the legislations. As far as I am aware they had nothing to do with 'dobbing' Judy in.

Ooh I hope it's still okay! We are buying a new tent next week for it LOL. You would think if they stopped it there would be a note in the schedule considering how many people do camp there.....

That's still $120- seems a little excessive when I already have 1 perfectly good set lol. But will keep it in mind if it comes down to having to buy all new ones!!! Thanks.

I don't know, I've never looked...I will look Thankyou we have one solid and one mesh in the old style so just need 1 more solid set for Winter lol. Would like to avoid buying more than necessary if possible! And also hesitant to buy online after the stuff-up with my last lot (which I bought in person and way overpriced but I knew the bad weather was coming and was desperate lol. That'll teach me!) Mum was home today, saw the postie go by on the other side of the street (usually does our side first), went to check and nothing in the mailbox so rings the secretary, yes our dogs are catalogue so we can get our numbers in the morning. Then mum sees the postie on our side and guess what?? There are our entries She didn't think to ask if we were in or out, bugger. The weather is certainly nice enough to be out!

Under Victorian law, they were illegally debarked. Hardly a proportional response to the offence though. Yes, I know that debarking is illegal in Victoria, the most that should have been done is issue a fine, not seize the dogs. The dogs were not in any form of danger, they were well looked after, there is no justification in seizing them. Funny isn't it (in a tragic way) that when an animal is in genuine need, starved, abused, overgrown hooves etc that a whole lotta red tape appears and the RSPCA can't intervene but when it's something like this, a technicality arising from a little known new legislation and the dogs can no longer be subjected to the 'abuse', they have the power to seize?????

Bugger wish I'd known it was yesterday- would have sat in. Poor Judy but glad there is no conviction. It's laughable though, or would be if it weren't so tragic, is that she has to foot the bill for the RSPCA's 'care'.

Hopefully the kids education classes can include the correct name for a female dog- sick to death of being told off by children for saying 'bitch'

I have one set (2x walls to cover 2x sides of a deluxe) that I am trying to get rid of if you are interested??? Only used a few times- I bought them as the bag said they were for a 2.4 x 2.4 but they are definitely 3x3. Unfortuntely had to use them as the weather was dreadful so couldn't return them. A little dirty etc but otherwise in great condition.

We'll be at Kyneton and certainly don't fancy trying to drive the trailer through the streets of Moonee Ponds lol. Should be good fun though

An unfair statement, such a comment is akin to saying that a child from mixed parentage is horrible, you cannot generalise. umm nothing alike at all, dogs are not humans cross those two breeds and conformation goes down the toilet, I agree the vast majority are horrible I am not advocating cross breeding but realistically speaking....what is so dastardly wrong with a maltese x shih tzu's conformation? I have seen a large number of maltese x shih tzus in my life time and none came across as having a "horrible" conformation, in fact I would go so far as saying that they appeared to be very healthy and robust. I fully concur. All other Maltese/shitzu owners I have ever talked to over the past 15 years all adore their dog(s) & the dog(s) their owners. Never once has any Maltese/shitzu owner ever told me anything derogative about the Maltese/shitzu X breed - its was always quite the contrary. We had one for nearly 15 years. He was the ugliest thing I've ever seen, his lower jaw came out over half the length of his top jaw, his front was about as East/West as you can get, flat feet, weak pasterns, roached back, bowed hind legs. He had a nice coat though, thick and barely shed, would have been easy to maintain if he didn't attack during a grooming session. His patella were fine but he did tear one cruciate and snapped the other so had both replaced. He had his good and bad points, temperament wise I don't k ow if that was us or breeding or a combo of both. He was very smart, although seriously dog aggressive (not helped due to being attacked on more than one occasion), we did private obedience lessons and he made it to trial level! He also loved agility (muzzled during class lol), so he never competed in anything. Maybe if we knew then what we know now his temperament would have been better.... But the things that cannot be changed are his confirmation and that was just unpleasant, he didn't seem to have any physical issues but sure makes me cringe thinking about it!! Yes, we loved him dearly. But would I ever get another one??? No way in Hell.

I know people who only own male dogs and don't want to breed but exhibit under their prefix. The form I submitted for my prefix had 5 spaces, I filled them all. But have known a few people who only put their first preference down. I got my first choice (took me years to decide and many many hours of researching to try and find something that no one else had used). Other end of the scale is a friend who submitted 63 before one was approved!!!

I haven't gone as far as to give my dogs their own FB profile but they are on Dogbook and Twitter
