  1. The show secretary (above) should be able to advise if any are entered - but I haven't seen any at a show for quite a while here in Vic.
  2. Ha, have just got back from Benalla where the committee reserved ALOT of spots for 'friends'. Not alot of room left around grp 6 that was certain. So they have contravened Dogs Victoria policy totally.
  3. Where were you parked ? I will be down there early tomorrow running dogs so can have a look :).
  4. A 26,000 fine - they should be put in the pit with one of the aggressive dogs they have created.
  5. Sounds Fascinating! ? Not the case at all - both the judge and the cc dog exhibitor are judges/exh so they would know the rules !. One exh chucked a tanty because he didn't win and others jumped on the bandwagon - his accusation was that the judge had handled the exh dogs less than 12 months ago. App it was over 18 months ago when the exh had knee surgery. Why is it that people crack it to this point when they don't win - its just a dog show. If I were that judge I would put in a complaint against that exh for damage to reputation.
  6. The temperatures were taken btwn 10.15 and 10.30 with a lazer therm - this was pointed out somewhere if you actually read the posts. The temperatures were recorded on the device and posted as such. There was no exagerating anything - there was no need. The dog that was suffering from the heat was a mastiff. And seriously if you think about it a dog doesn't have an 'air temperature' - it has a surface temperature which is what is recorded by the lazer therm - so this kind of temp is relevant. I have no 'alterior motives' or whatever else was stated by the not nice person and I don't really care what people think of me or my post - especially those who don't know me - the post was about the temperatures on the day at that time. There is alot of digust/anger in the dog world in general in regards to the club not cancelling this show but I wasn't the one who posted anything about that or stated anything like that.
  7. Greg just told me its 41.5 from normal "air" therm and yes its in the shade. A mini poodle won bis from another list so may be wrong.
  8. Black Sat was 48 at KCC park (from my car therm which I wouldn't take as totally accurate) at 9am when I finished running dogs. By midday here it was 68 deg in the shade - you literally could not move if you went outside. So if it was this hot on Black Saturdaywhy did you put your dogs in a car to take them to KCC PArk for a run. Surely it would have been too hot for this too?? We were there at 6.30am and leaving by 9 - it wasn't hot when we left home or got there - dogs were in trailer and I run my dogs every morning though since then its been at 5am due to work .
  9. Crap, I forgot to put it in the envelope - better ring and see if I can scan and email it. They'd better accept my Neuter entry or they can send back the other 5 I entered as well !!!
  10. Black Sat was 48 at KCC park (from my car therm which I wouldn't take as totally accurate) at 9am when I finished running dogs. By midday here it was 68 deg in the shade - you literally could not move if you went outside.
  11. Are you using a laser sighted thermometer like a gun? If I use ours I get temps like yours as they measure the surface temp not the air temp. Yes, it is - the forcast temperature or recorded temp is air temp and in the shade. But think about it - a dog in the ring does not have an 'air temp' it has a surface temp. And this is what the RSPCA or Gov Dep will be checking when they get it into their heads to do spot checks on dog shows over summer - and they will.
  12. We are 10 mins from KCC - at 3.35pm current temp is 39 in shade, 51.5 on grass and 62 on paving. Think whatever makes you feel better
  13. Sorry forgot to add that the temp guage is accurate as it is used for OH&S and is checked and calibrated monthly.
  14. Well, I dropped in to get some more water buckets and just for interests sake took my partners digital temp checker - I was there at 10.15 this morning. Temp in shade was 48 deg - temp in the ring was 51.5 deg (and that was the grass not the black / tan heavy coated breed that was in the ring at the time) - so average would be 49 deg I guess. Give a 3 deg variance for error in the machine and you still have 46 deg in the ring on the grass. When people are walking around with sweat literally dripping off them dragging dogs who are dragging / tripping over their own feet I would think that serious heat exhaustion is very close to setting in and the damamge this does to a dogs system can be unrepairable. I have nothing else to say .
  15. There were not many spots left at 9am when I was running dogs - and yes, people had already set up and were obviously staying there for the day !!! Thats dedication for you . Good luck to those entered.
  16. Thanks for the reminder - will have to enter Rhemy, though I am not sure she will make it into the ring as she had to have surgery on her leg (fractured by bad fall & floating piece of bone) two days ago and being nearly 10 yrs old - well we'll see how she goes. Though she was flirting her butt off with her grandson yesterday - old tart - so she is feeling ok. Thanks to the club for holding the class - will be getting my entry + 4 others Bisart, I am so sorry to hear about Rhemy breaking her leg. This is always a worry with the oldies. I hope her surgery goes well and her comvalescing is a smooth and quick process. Poor poppit. Please give her a hug for me. We hope to see her out and about again very soon. Thanks Dyzney - I'm sure she will be fine. She actually fell while running full speed on a concrete step - there was a checkerplate steel man hole cover in it and she hit it, lost her grip and went head over heels down a big concrete step / seat thing. This was about 6 weeks ago - poor darling, she cut herself in multiple places quite badly but her ankle was the worst. She showed no lameness at all and still doesn't (tough aren't they) but the wound on her ankle just wouldn't heal up even with 2 lots of antibiotics etc etc so I took her off to Sandown Vet to get an X-ray to check if she had damaged bone / joint. And yes she had fractured a 5 cent piece size off her ankle joint and it was floating which was causing the irritation. No other damage thankfully so the surgery was to remove the fragment and hopefully it will heal up with no issues now . She will be entered at Cranbourne - not sure she will make it into the ring as I won't show her if she isn't 110% but will probably bring her for the day out anyway as she enjoys it and feels special when she gets to come.
  17. Don't believe that there are powered sites at KCC but I think for the bigger shows you can camp o'night you will have to contact the office. But given the frequency of bad flooding KCC is getting atm I wouldn't . Camp sites / Cabins / Motel Rooms all dogs friendly at link below. About 10 mins from KCC. http://www.discoveryholidayparks.com.au/vic/mornington_peninsula/carrum_downs

  19. Only if there dog is bloody good !!!!!!!!!!!! And then they deserve it.
  20. Certainly is alot of 'Bull stuff' coming out again !!! We have a lovely couple with one of our puppies and they were talking about their friend who has a blue staffy bitch puppy and how gorgeous she is and how the vet was raving about what a beautiful colour she is - I nearly bit my toungue off !!! LOL.
  21. X-ray's alot cheaper than ultrasound here - but thats not why I do them (we ultrasound at about day 35 because I need to book in time off work & x-ray at about day 54 as our girls have all gone on day 59) - we routinely get litters of 10 - 14 and I like to have as close an idea of exactly how many there are in there so that I can know when to act and how.
  22. X-Ray Yep, agree totally ours will do x-ray from day 53 on but the closer the better as you have a better chance of seeing all the skeletons - can be hard if they are all on top of each other but all you want to know is if there are any there so def x-ray.
  23. Not defending the dogs actions but you have to wonder why a trained ranger would put themselves into that position with 2 dogs already acting aggressively. What a stupid thing to do.
  24. Twice - always - but at the moment puppies - 3 to 4 times in their area, I hate it being dirty because they always jump on you when they have just run through a poo !!!!!
