Westie Rescue have had good results with Austrazole Topical Fungicide Wash for Dogs and Horses I have used it on Minnie as a wash (obviously) after I have given her a bath (and yes, I just use Fido's shampoo) Minnie's skin has cleared up well though the dog's immune system also needs a kick-start so a raw diet (seems to be the go-to for skin-problem Westies) Apoquel for the short term (thank goodness fo Apoquel), Hydrozole ointment for a few days on the bad areas as well as Gold Cross Whitfield's Antifungal Ointment (Chemist Warehouse or ebay) The Hydrozole is a pharmacy only product so you'd need to say it's for your husband's feet, don't mention it's for your dog The Whitfields is really so good, cheap enough and covers a big area as it's greasy. Calendula petal wash was is helpful but is really slow on results, I made up a wash by steeping some petals overnight, I also made a Calendula oil by putting petals in coconut oil and keeping it warm for a couple of days, I used an electric yoghurt maker. You can buy the petals here https://countrypark.com.au/product/calendula-petals/ Hope this helps

All of us here have gone through the same grief @West so we do know how you are feeling. have your dog cremated or buried under her favourite garden-spot and give her some dignity. Remember it is still about her and doing what you are thinking of doing is not going to help your grief. Would she have wanted it?

years ago I used to use Aristopet tea tree dog soap on Penny and Mac (my first Westies) it was so good but it seems to be unavailable now

I use Fido's to get the dogs clean then use an special shampoo for Minnie's crook skin (which is getting so much better) I had a quick look and this is a small amount if you decide to try it, though I don't know what the postage would be https://www.jumbopets.com.au/Fido-s-Everyday-Shampoo.html?vid=347&msclkid=55363b6b253f19dcce055f6f620d0a90 Fido's also have tea tree shampoo and Aloe Vera shampoo

some of the reviews are fairly old but interesting all the same https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/dermcare-aloveen-oatmeal and this data sheet https://www.dechra.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Dermcare-ALOVEEN-Oatmeal-Shampoo-SDS-V7-Dec-2016.pdf and an old Dogz topic

Can you edit your post to make it a bit clearer please @Valmae? I fear my brain has melted in the heat and I don't quite understand what you are meaning and how we can help

get your friend to do the on-line quotes on this page Perse https://petsure.com.au/find-a-policy/ and I hope that your friend can see the page as the company (Hollards) have joined the ranks of 'lets write everything in pale grey so no-one can see it on their computer' it's so annoying -
Whereabouts in Qld are you? the reason I ask is that there may be midges (tiny sand-flies) around, their bite is a bit savage to skin and really itchy. Sometimes there are dragonflies flying about which is an indication of sandfly/midge presence, the dragonflies eat them Usually the tick preventive medication helps https://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-10-13/midge-outbreak-on-sunshine-coast/7929522 or it also may be caused by Wandering Jew, here is a link to the ornamental variety though Qld does have a native one which is green so scroll down a little on this link

I may have some pointers. Whereabouts are you? (what suburb if in the Brisbane area) and what breed of dog(s) do you have?

Whats the recommended breeding shedule for a bitch ?
Boronia replied to jjj8's topic in General Dog Discussion
Maybe make the responsible decision to desex her, the last litter was just too traumatic for her and you. -
give her the powder from 1/2 tab twice a day, mix it with her food and give her Greek yoghurt (the no added sugar one) Try to buy the fenugreek seeds as they are better and, of course, heaps of fresh clean water<---this is just so important. She mustn't get dehydrated. There are some suggestions on this page https://dogcare.dailypuppy.com/foods-promote-milk-production-nursing-dogs-5428.html

What does the info on the bottle say?...are the contents just powdered fenugreek or are those capsules an extract that has been dried? (much stronger than straight powdered seeds) What is indicated on the bottle the dosage rate for children? Here is some dog dosage info: Some info on dosages...I have put into italics the dosage a paragraph from this dog site https://pokydogs.org/how-much-fenugreek-to-give-a-dog/ Fenugreek for dogs milk production: Does Fenugreek Increase Breast Milk In Dogs? Yes! A study carried out shows that fenugreek improves the percentage of the milk a dam will produce to up to 16%. Fenugreek is often the breeder’s choice to supplement their lactating dam’s minerals and milk. Also, after whelping, if the milk is not as sufficient as expected, fenugreek is used. This practice has been on for ages. It helps lactating mothers produce more milk which is why it’s considered a galactagogue. The fenugreek dosage for dog milk production is one tablespoon two times daily of powdered fenugreek seeds. and from here--> https://greenpet.com.au/product/fenugreek-powder/ This is a screenshot of the dosage of Greenpet powder that picture is on the Greenpet link To be safe it may be best to give the mum 2.5g Fenugreek Powder Dosage : Cats / small dogs 1 to 2 teaspoons daily Med dogs: 1 to 2 Tablespoons daily Large dogs: 2 Tablespoons daily

@jjj8 the fenugreek seeds are also available at health food shops and Asian or Indian grocers and in capsule form at Chemist Warehouse. A list of where to buy in this linkie here about 1 teaspoon of seeds to 1 cup boiling water, let steep or 5--10 minutes then strain off the seeds. if you have one of those little one cup tea strainers/balls that you can put the seeds into they are good
