  1. good to hear luvsdogs Im thinking if i had an itch and my hands were tied behind my back for 7 days I would be doing anything i could to scratch it dammit!! I guess Tilba is doing the same thing. poor baby, but she will be just fine really soon
  2. it sounds as though he maybe thinks he has let it go outside and then when it has happened he hasn't even realised. poor fella. As you say he's not sitting to poop or showing signs of pooping so he obviously doesn't know. Hope the vet visit comes up with something.
  3. Its hard to see them after a spay if they are unsettled and of course not themselves. Im no expert but I remember after Nooki was spayed she was a little like this aswell. We made her as comfortable as we could and kept a close eye on her. luckily we didnt have to use one of those funnel things but it was harder to stop her licking the stitches, so although it looks uncomfy, she will be better off (which you probably know) So yeah, we just made her as comfy as possible. She will feel better tomorrow and so will you ETA - i remember spooning Nooki when she laid down to keep her there and to comfort her...... i think it made me feel better having her so close aswell
  4. What a funny and cute memory silver. cherish your time together and make some more memories. I dont believe we are ever ready for our loved fur babies to go and i dread the day i have to go through this. cuddles and kisses will be my priority at that time, for the both of us.
  5. You know what I love.....? I love all the peeps in here who are so welcoming and helpful!! Thanks again for all your advice guys, even though it wasn't my question!
  6. You poor things. My wishes for you all is that you spend the rest of your days filled with love and tail wags, for as long or short as it may be.
  7. My Boy has a really dry nose and has had for 5 days now. I have read that there is nothing to be alarmed about as a dry nosed dog being sick is an old myth. Can anyone recommend something to help soothe it? Or can anyone help with a cause? Thanks in advance
  8. I read somewhere n this forum that canned pumpkin stops the squirts in doggies like that! I'll see if I can find where I read it
  9. such a wise wise woman!!! you are a woman right?? I now have my shopping list for next week, and im gonna give your delicious veggie raw/pureed/grated mix a go. Thank you..... so so much! Im off to bed to dream of the meat section at coles..... nothing suss intended again....thank you
  10. LMAO!! wish a couple of glasses of wine helped me .... just makes my typing go mushy!! Brisket bones I will stay away from due to meatyless-ness. Chicken necks all good cos I know they chew Thanks Huski. I really was stressing in the meat department. Now I feel totally comfortable in picking the right thing. You Rock!!!!!!!!
  11. Not at all! I've never had my Sibe have any bad reactions to meat, I buy what I can and what I think they will enjoy. Today Woolies had a lot of lamb on sale so I bought that and popped a lot in the freezer, they also had these giant turkey legs that the dogs will go nuts over! Is it sad that I get excited about the meat I buy them People I know in other countries like the UK and the US get to buy their dogs lots of gamey meat like Bison, I wish we could get it here! HAHAAHAHAH!!! I get excited when there are chicken necks left.... now im just gonna be hanging out in the meat section for hours choosing different things!!! OK Huski..... btw you are super fast with replies!! What Meaty Bones should I stay away from?
  12. I just realised..... i should really be posting in the BARF thread..... not in the "How much does it cost" thread. Sorry guys
  13. Thanks everyone!! Again, awesome advice! My Sibes are better off after all the help you have given me. another question.......are you all sick of me asking yet? What meats should I steer clear of? For whatever reasons?
  14. Seriously..... I friggin love you guys!!!!!! Thank you so much for all your advice and tips. It definitely helps a bit of a scardey cat like me make decisions easier!! So have fed the furries fish for the first time this week and they went absolutely nuts over it. Just sardines and tuna.... slowly moving up! Am going to buy some turkey necks cos I know Asher will chew them, maybe stick with the chicken necks for Nooki, she's such a dainty eater. Asher did chew the chicken wings, but it still worries me a little..... he didnt chew much! Think i'll give the frozen meat a whirl too. Sounds like a great idea. Might get some Lamb flaps (dunno what they are but i'll have a look) and another meaty bone looking thing. Definitely gonna give the Roo a go aswell. Asher needs to shed some more kilos so leaner meat would be good. OK, after looking at this, do you guys think I should introduce one new thing at a time and not 5 new things in 5 days? Will all the new upset their tummies?
  15. Hope he gets his appetite back really soon Erny. Its frustrating when you know something is wrong and you wanna fix it so bad but cant. We had problems with Nooki not eating when we first got her. I think she went once for nearly 5 days without eating a thing. Lucky for me, I found a herbal remedy similar to rescue remedy and that brought her along slowly to start then in leaps and bounds after about 3 days on it. Hope the chicken helps
  16. What does the Roo do in regards to their metabolic rate Midol? What makes it a better meat/bone option to feed. Would you be feeding the tail as part of their food or as a snack? Is the tail meaty? Again sorry for all the questions.... I just love that you guys all have the answers! I will be going to he butcher on Monday so I will check out what they can do for me in the way of Chicken Frames and fish heads. Thanks for all the advice and info Midol!!!
  17. O...M...G... I knew I'd hear a horror story!! That must have been terrible Jamie!! I feel the terror just reading your story. This is definitely my biggest fear.
  18. So I have a question for all you BARF Feeders. Tonight I fed Asher and Nooki Chicken Wings. At one point when Asher was inhaling a wing, I had a disgusting feeling come over me because I thought he might have got it stuck in his throat. I raced to his side, knelt down and could see that it was not stuck, he was simply chewing Feel free to laugh at me.... im a first time Raw Meat and Bone feeder. Have given them bones to chew on before, but nothing along this line. I want to feed them more fresh meats and bones in the future. Has anyone ever had their dog get bones stuck in its throat? What did you do in the heat of the moment? What Raw meat and bones would you recommend for me? Is anything I can buy at the supermarket ok or is there anything I should be steering clear of? Any advice to a newb would be appreciated. Thanks
  19. I agree Jules....The best dry food is what works best for your dog. We have been using Eukanuba for the last 7 months (made by Iams) and havent had any problems with it. The dogs seem to enjoy it. Its abit big for Nooki (she is missing a bit of her tongue so smaller is better) but she gets it down slowly. Heres my probs with it though. It is really expensive. We pay $104 per 12kg bag :D yep, in a bid to get some weight off Asher, we paid that much. So we are going to give Great Barko a go (the DOL'ers reviews convinced me) as soon as we have finished our bag off. Heres my biggest problem. I dont know all the facts, but I saw all I needed to ...... Iams test on animals. I saw a video which was taken by an Iams executive while visiting the factory where the testing was happening. I wont go on about it, but because of this, I will not buy their products anymore. Eukanuba is Iams. Remember that what works for your dog is what is best, just so long as it isnt Chocolate Cake for brekkie, cooked bones for lunch and onions garnished with Wandering Jew for Dinner!!!
  20. No worries Luke! I know how frustrating it is and how happy I was when we worked it out. I hope you guys find your itchy nemesis soon! I forgot to post this link in the other post Luke sorry. Have a look and see if any of these are what you and Barkly are walking past http://www.dermcare.com.au/pdf/Wandering_Jew.pdf Good luck
  21. Barkly sounds like he has the EXACT same problem we just had with Asher. Asher slowly started getting itchy over a period of about 4 weeks, then it got to the point where he just would not stop itching.... it was getting annoying for us, poor bugger must have been going through hell. Got that bad that we could barely even touch anything on him. Took him to the Vet just over a week ago. Vet mentioned plants that might be a prob in our yard, but the only one familiar to us was the Wandering Jew and Rhoeo (same family) but neither of those were in the back yard. Lets take a step back now. Asher Loves to walk through long grasses, hanging bushes, spiky uncomfortable looking plants and anything to that description. At the end of our walks, down the driveway, Asher loves to jump into the Wandering Jew/Rhoeo that grows all the way along. Fast forward to the morning after the Vet visit..... driving up the driveway to work.... BOOM! got my answer. Long story ending soon...... The Vet put Asher on a course of Cortisone which took the itching away in under 12 hours and pretty much every other sign of his allergy within 48 hours. He is no longer allowed to keel over and roll in any bush/grass/shrub I am unfamiliar with. Any other advice I got from the DOLers. Dont wash more than twice monthly, introduce fish and or fish oil and primrose oil to his diet, etc, I think you know the rest. Final thought Springer style....... Asher only rolled in the Wandering Jew for at the most 30 seconds each time, max 6 times a week. Doesnt take much.
  22. Makes total sense. Thank you so much again Huski !!!
  23. Thanks for the suggestion Midol! Im such a noob though....... is that frozen raw or frozen cooked??
  24. RMB's? Still learning the lingo Good info thanks Huski. Having a look at that site now. Do you take the bone away from your dog after finishing the meat? actually, before you answer any more..... im off to read that site!! ETA RAW MEATY BONES!!!! Got it!!
