  1. So here's our update for the week. After figuring out that Asher is not even using his leg for swimming (after 4 sessions) I booked to see the Physio. after seeing her she has told me to book in to see the specialist who performed the surgery. There is obviously something wrong and it needs to be looked at asap. So im booked to see my Vet tomorrow and perhaps the specialist soon after that. The Physio thinks it could be a problem with the Meniscus. I cannot remember for the life of me if it was removed or not. She said it might have a tear that was not picked up when the op was being performed and this is constantly being aggravated as Asher moves around. But in saying that, she is not a Vet and she said until further xrays etc are done we wont know. arrghhhhhhh!!! Just frustrating. I just want my bouncy boisterous boy back. Will update after visit tomorrow.
  2. I use Bosistos Eucalyptus spray for everything!!! Sore bones, stains, everything. Its magic Get it in the supermarket. Green and red can with a parrot on it. amazing stuff. Not my fault your old man believes everything I say Sam
  3. My advice on options : Motor oil Bright Pink aerosol spray can more chewing gum/hubba bubba honey grease red wine super glue Pantene Any of these will solve your problems, I guarantee it
  4. No advice for you Sam ..... But OMG your story is freakin hilarious!!!!!!
  5. Thanks for that link Raff. Gonna grab some next time im out
  6. Asher had ACL Surgery about 10 weeks ago Shell. He came through it well but isnt progressing as much as we had hoped, but hopefully more swimming and increased walks will start rebuilding the muscles and get him better soon Thanks for the Zero and Shell Husky Hugs Sasha's blend is so easy for us. I put it into, onto, around and mixed in whatever they eat. Asher and Nooki dont mind it at all. On RMB's I either just put it in the bowl and the lick it up and I put a little water in it to make it easier for them. I would think just sprinkling it on the fish should be enough for Zero if he likes fishy things already! They get a full spoon each day so 1 tub lasts me about 5 weeks for the 2 of them. The free sample is great too. Has some info on the product and who doesn't love free stuff I would get it for sure Shell if you arent sure how Zero will like it. Im sure he will though!
  7. I have a cool mat SK and I immerse it in water for about 5 minutes and it has small hard gel crystals inside it, when soaked they expand, soften and do their thing. The mat stays cool for 3 to 5 days, depending on how hot it is. The crystals just start losing their moisture or however the hell it works and then after 4-5 days it is back to flat and hard gel crystals. I didnt believe it, but it works. Now to get my dog to lay on it ..... thats a whole other story!! Im not sure who I got it from but I'm sure I could back track and find out if you want their info. Its an Aussie company. Not sure if they did the neck thingies though.
  8. Hi Shell I am currently using Sasha's blend but am no help in comparing as I have only used it. I have no idea whether it is helping Asher or not as he is still recovering from surgery but I hope it is helping Would love to hear comparisons on the 2 products as well.
  9. awwww poor lil Hugo!! Glad hes feeling a little better now though Bindii. OMG Fletch is so freakin cute looking after him like that. I knew I adored that doggie for a reason!! Hope he has a speedy recovery Suga
  10. Aww Kelly that brought me to tears what a sweet sweet thing to say. Bless ya cotton socks. Chlo is such a good girl cos she has the fabulous Kelly_Louise in her life!!! Kudos to you babe. She asked me to say Thank you to you in a dream I had last night. Although it sounded more like Ranku (Scooby doo voice). She said she loves you more than anything and would do anything to see you smile. She told me that. Promise SO HAPPY to hear all is good What a tough lil cookie. Great news Kelly, just great
  11. She is a hairy bugga isnt she Kelly!! OH once had Asher shaved .... I was overseas at the time .... nearly cried when I got home. Poor puppy!! Never again. So I will be off to bed now and I will be thinking of happy dreams for positive news. I don't even need to though. Its totally gonna be all good news
  12. My toes and Asher and Nooki's paws are all crossed for you Kelly! I have a good feeling about these results
  13. how much does she weigh and how much (in grams) do you feed her for both meals?
  14. Asher loves the water thankfully ..... Nooki on the other hand is a little princess!! Poor Chloe and her mud stack Glad shes ok. I think if she were a super hero she would be The Invincible Doggie!! So glad her meds are working well. I bet she feels like a youngen again right now Good Luck with your check up next week. Yay for Sash being a celebrity doggie. I voted as much as I could ..... hate that stoopid captcha thing every 2 pics ..... but when I hit it I was in for as many votes as possible!!! The Vaccination thing is a little bit of a head scratch huh. I have decided to continue my Vacs every year until I feel there is no need to. I would never forgive myself if one of em got sick and it could have been avoided. Talked to my Vet and feel the yearly is a good routine. Asher was a bit funny when we had some good winds and strange weather too. Poor baby
  15. Thanks Kelly I do think it is just muscle deterioration and after we build it up we should be ok ..... but I'm so friggin overprotective of him, poor bugger might take double time to recover! Swim on Thursday night so hopefully its the beginning of our rebuild. How are your two doing love?
  16. Today marks the nine week mark and its time for an update. Asher has been going well but is still quite obviously favouring his other leg. Had a visit with our Physio last week and she thinks his Range of movement is great, but she is a little concerned (not bad concern, just concerned) that he is still showing the signs of lameness. She worked on him for 45 minutes and gave him a thorough working over, finding spots that I had never even worked on. Asher was in a little bit of discomfort at times, due to the stiffness in his muscles and muscle degeneration over the past 2 months. She gave me the all clear to start swimming which starts this Saturday. If after 2 weeks of swimming (4 lessons) and longer walks Asher is not using his leg more, then we have to go back and see our specialist. Not the best news as Asher was doing so well, but these things happen I guess. We have had some incidents of 'all foot off ground' lameness since the physio appointment, which is a little bit of a worry, but hopefully its just tenderness and incorrect stepping.
  17. So sorry to hear about your girl Gillbear. It is a terrible feeling and its a long road but believe me there is light at the end of it. After a mis-diagnosis from our normal Vet, Asher went on another 5 months before we noticed it again and that time we were goingt o get options and different opinions from other Vets. After a couple of opinions, we decided to go with the TPLO (Tibial plateau Levelling Osteotomy) as it was best for our dog over the other options. It has a good success rate, is great for bigger dogs and the other options gave us too many failure options, based only on our personal case (eg, our house block is sloped land with holes and rocks, frisky sister, another dog next door that runs the fence and twisting is inevitable). You need to weigh up the pros and cons of each option you are given and apply to your own life. The TPLO was the best option for us and we have been successful to date. Today we are at the 8 week Post Op mark and although Asher is still not running around like he used to (the full recovery is approx 6 months) he is getting better everyday. I have a thread or 2 in this sub forum about our Diagnosis and then there is one called Asher's Post Op Diary. If you would like to partake in some light reading. It might give you an idea as to what your headed for. Let me know if I can be of any help whatsoever.
  18. NOOOOOOOO!!!! Her stuff was the best!!! Dammit!!! Shameless shameless brag inserted here.....
  19. Some dog treats can be very bad for your dog. They contain all sorts of stuff we can barely even pronounce. Full of sugars and fats and colours ewwwww. No wonder so many dogs are overweight poor Asher!! I used to waste my money on things like schmackos, but after reading about what they contain and how it effects my dogs I will never feed again. Even things like Dog Biscuits, take the Lucky Dog ones for example (on any supermarket shelf) are so full of sugar. No wonder dogs are on edge!!!! I only buy treats now that are completely natural. Liver treats are great, Polar Paws have fantastic products. My dogs dont get too many treats but the Happy Paws products are also great. I bought some of those ages ago and am only just finishing the bag now. Natural and good for them, in moderation of course.
  20. I buy from this ebayer. She stocks all sorts of stuff and if you dont see what you want, just ask her and she will try to get it. WAY WAY WAY cheaper than any pet supply store, andthe product is great. I have purchased kangaroo jerky, lambs ears, pigs ears (dried) etc and they are awesome. She has nothing in her ebay store right now though, not sure why, but if you go to her feedback you can view the products. http://myworld.ebay.com.au/tracey6230/
  21. Good thread guys thanks for all the replies. Am starting my kids on brusha brusha brusha soon and the advice so far has been great.
