  1. My pup likes to hang out downstairs too. He sees upstairs as a sleeping area, so he won't go upstairs unless it's bed time. Downstairs is more entertaining for him, there is always someone in the living room to play with him, he can go in and out of the house easier, most of his toys are downstairs too, so is he food and water. Maybe your pup is the same?
  2. I stress myself out worrying about Charlie.. then get tired looking after him.
  3. OMG... he is toooooo cute!!! I got Charlies neutered when he was 6 months old. I wouldn't get him neutered earlier though. It's a personal choice really. if they don't drop, get them removed... healthier for the dog in the long rung
  4. hi, and congrates on Willow. (pic please ) everything the other said... I just want to add, the first day pup comes.. just give her some space so she can look and sniff around, and let her settle down. wait till she goes to you... fight the urge to always pat her, cuddle her etc. especially with the kiddies, who will be very excited to get a puppy. good luck
  5. Teach your pup the rules and manners... keep your pup in line... take him away from spoilt dog when things get to much. Or, even try to teach spoilt dog manners too?
  6. This is what I've been doing with Charlie too No more wasting food
  7. I put treats in my pocket too... it's easier for me.

    Kong Toy

Charlie doesn't play with the kong either. He likes his stuff toys much better.
  9. That's true. Charlie is like that. Now, he can jump on and off the bed himself and the weather is getting warmer, he usually likes sleeping on the floor or in the bathroom on the tiles. He is always up on my bed again around 5am for a little extra snooze and our morning cuddles. :D
  10. + 1 I go there too and they are really a fantastic team there.
  11. Charlie likes mint (mouth refresher thingy). My sister accidently drop one on the floor and Charlie sniffed it and ate it, then sat patiencely waiting for more. He does have nice breathe after eating one though.. He will choose fruit over meat too. Kokoro - Charlie does this too I thought I was the only one!! I always have a glass of water before going to bed.. so for a joke, I gave him a small glass of water from a cup, and he drinks from the cup too. We both now have our own cup in my bathroom... before we go to bed, I have a glass of water and so does Charlie.
  12. i'm so sorry... this has given me a heavy heart. RIP Bob APBT- i would never take an American pitbull to a pound or a vet i didn't trust, i dont care weather its illegal or not. neither would i.
  13. Well he's not eating it now, so what exactly do you think you can do about it? Save yourself the stress and just don't give him the meal he's not eating anyway. In a couple of weeks come back to it and see what he thinks. Maybe he's fully grown now - fully grown doesn't happen at a certain age! The only alternative is to force feed him which is not somewhere you want to go You're lucky - you have a dog which doesn't eat just because there's food there, don't fuss with him and turn it into a big deal or you could turn him in to a fussy eater. Good advice Sandra.. thanks ;) I'm feeding him less now and see how that goes.
  14. that's the same with charlie...
  15. I feed all my dogs twice a day so I'm biased, and wouldn't feed a dog once a day one. But if he's not eating one meal a day it won't hurt him not eat it for a week or so. They go through some very weird phases as they grow up, he might be in a lull with his growth (may well be nearly full grown if he's a little dog) so he's just not interested in food. Just feed him a bit more at night time (but not straight after exercise) and see how he goes. growing up... we only fed the dogs once a day. usually at night.. the get bones during the week. but i was told that i was not suppose to do that with puppies, especially when they are less then a year old
  16. thanks for the replies :D never had a fussy eater before... i'm cutting down his meals to smaller amount.. although, will it be a good idea to just feed him once a day? even though he is only 6 months?
  17. I just stop leaving dry food out for him, hoping that would get him to eat more of his meal. But, thanks, I'm going to try to half his food to see if he would eat. But, yeah, he is healthy... just his eating habits is weird.
  18. If he gets breakfast and dinner, how is he on one meal a day? If he's leaving food, he's been fed too much. You can either cut back on the amount per meal and continue to feed two or feed one larger meal. As he's probably reached close to his mature height, he wouldn't be needing as much food now. he doesn't eat breakfast.. just eats dinner. i'm asking if i should start feeding one meal a day.. although i don't want to because he is only 6 months old
  19. So Charlie is only eating one meal a day now. I do put the food down and take it back after 10 minutes.. but, he only takes a bite out of his breakfast (this is after a long walk and stuff)... then leaves it. in the evening, after another walk.. he will eat his dinner.. but there is always left over. so, what to do? do i only start feeding him one meal a day? or continue doing the same as i do now? he is on a raw diet, it doesn't matter what i give him.. raw chicken wings, chicken neck, lamb shanks.. if he won't eat it. I have to throw some of these away when he doesn't eat them... and it's starting to become a waste of food. i have dry biscuits for him too, but he doesn't eat much of that either.
  20. I've only started learning how to use the clicker and obedience school. It's an interesting tool. I can see why it's easier to train a puppy using it though. But, all Charlie knows with the clicker is.. i click it, he gets a treat. If, we accidently click it, he will run from wherever he is and sits waiting patiently for a treat. We are still learning...

    Sneezy Puppy

dogs get hayfever? can you go to the vet to see if puppies has allergies? sneezing started a few weeks ago when the nights and mornings were really really cold... i even start putting the heater in my room so the room will be warm for us. but, the heater turns off and the room will get cold really really fast.. that's how i wake up in the morning because it's freezing, and i have to turn the heater on again.

    Sneezy Puppy

I have a sneezy puppy. He only sneezes when he wakes up.. no coughing, no temp or anything. He eats well, plays really really well, and doesn't seem like there is anything wrong with him. Could this because my house is really really cold? Or could he be sick? He does wear a jacket on really really cold days. I've taken him to the vet and he didn't sneeze once (go figure) and the vet says that he is perfectly healthy. What other reason why a puppy will sneeze?
  23. My pup will choose fruit over meat anyday. Banana and manadrin are his absolute favorite... although i don't give it to him much. But, he would do absolutely anything for them, and he isn't usually food motivated at all!! Oh, he will only eat a peanut butter if i spread it on a red apple.. weird.
  24. If the dog is hungry... they will eat. no dog will starve itself. My pup was the most pickiest eater in the world... but, I did what the others suggest.. put the food down for 10 minutes and take it away. He learned quick smart that he has to eat all his meals before Mummy take his bowl away. Also, does she give her puppies enough exercise? Because, the more they are exercise.. the more hungry they get. I only feed my pup twice a day (that's because I work in the afternoon and I always leave dry food out for him in the day time.... but, I always walk him before I feed him. He is usually really hungry after a good exercise session (usually walk and play session.. LOL). He has to work for his food.
