I think dogs eating their poo is common.. there has been a few threads about it on DOL. You can try putting pineapple juice in his meal. Apparently poo will smell and taste gross for them. Or change his diet up a bit, because he might be missing something in his diet that he needs.

Charlie had a white line from his forehead and as he grew older.. the white isn't as noticeable anymore but it's still there if you have a close look. But the white on the rest of Charlie's is always really really white though. Whiter than Emmy, who's a Japanese Spitz!

Emmy loves to cuddles. When she wants to be picked up.. she jumps up and then falls backwards as though we have to catch her. I didn't catch her once to see what she does, she falls over and tries it again. We rarely say no to her with her cuddles though. When we are sitting down, she comes sits beside us and offers her paws and if we accept her paw, she throws herself on us... and then she comes on our lay and rest her back on our chest and lays on us like that. It's a common to see her laying against someone at home. In bed, she lays right on top of me and her head resting on my shoulders. Charlie only cuddles with me. When I'm sitting on the floor, he usually he lays beside me and rest his head against my leg. Though he will take a good scratch all over than a proper cuddle. In bed, he likes laying resting his head on my shoulder and I wrap my arms around him. He likes being snuggled close to me. My 2 will cuddle with each other but about 90% of the time, it's end up with a bitey face game too. Emmy likes to groom Charlie any chance she gets through, I often see her cleaning Charlie's ear and his mouth. Charlie doesn't like it but he tolerates it. He often sits/lay there with the look of 'whatever' on his face... Charlie will sometimes rest his head on Emmy's body if she close by and she loves it when he does it.

How Do 2 Golden Retrievers Get Along With Each Other?
W Sibs replied to goldee's topic in General Dog Discussion
You'd be better off insisting he leaves her bones alone. I don't allow my dogs to monster each other for food and they know it. How do I that? Normally what i do is say 'Max' in my stern voice and he looks at me and then leaves Jenna alone... but sometimes he just doesn't listen. That's when I go over and try to intervene. Jenna doesn't like him stealing her bones either but she knows hes top dog and eventually (after a lot of baring her teeth but not making a noise) just lets him have it. Neither of them hurt each other to get it because jenna just ends of giving up. I hate seeing Max take stuff of her because I think she is entitled to it as much as he is. ESPECIALLY if she got it first. What would you suggest I do? Feed treats in their crates. Or one inside and the other outside. Don't give him a chance to take her treats away. What do you do when he doesn't listen? Let him have his way? If he doesn't listen.. you go over and make him go away. -
ohh.. this place looks really nice!!

Personally for me, for a bigger breed I will wait till they are least over a year old. But if your breeder said 9 months, then wait till he is 9 months. He is still a growing boy..

@ Dexter Charlie and Em are great ratters. They also like chasing rabbits, bugs, possums and birds... Emmy will throw herself in the air to get a bird in mid flight if she thought she had a chance.

If he is teething.. give him something cold to suck on and feed him soft food like mince meat or something.

Hip Hip Hooray Charlie

LOL Emmy targets with a lot of enthusium too.. she growls when she targets, especially when I made her sit after every target. But she doesn't give me attitude (too much)... she is too much of an airhead and too happy to give me attitude.

Erik is quite the character I love hearing about his cleverness ;) Charlie had his really sad expression on his face as though the world is sooooo mean and we have to all feel sorry for him, sometimes he adds in the sigh to let us know he is putting on that face... :p

Ohh.. that's very strict. was there complication in the op? Maybe with this operation, his routine is out of whack and barking is an outlet of too much energy and frustration. once his stitches are out and he is back to his normal routine and getting the right amount of exercise, he would bark less and not care about what happens in the back fence? That's exactly what the obedience trainer said! I hope that you are both right. ;) I know i was strict but i listened to the vet, he is my first dog and i wanted to do every thing right. :p I cant wait to take him to nice bush walks with me next week! oh and there was no complication in the op awesome about no complications He is going to LOVE his bush walk!!!

Emmy ran down the corridor at the vet after getting desexed, then we got her home and was doing zoomies. She forgot she had surgery, I think. even the vets were wishing us luck on getting her calm after the op Ohh.. that's very strict. was there complication in the op? For the pass few morning now it has been cold and my fella, Charlie, isn't a fan of cold. It takes me quite a while to get him off the bed and with his situation, manhandling him is done with care... so it's not easy for me just to pick him up and put him on the floor. But, the little fella, finally gets up and I lifted him up and put him on the floor.. he either goes to his heated bed in the corner of my room or he curls up on the floor to continue his snoozing... So now, i simply just carry him to the backyard so he can do his business. As soon as I put him on the cold and wet grass, he starts grumblings. Not whinging or barking, my real grumbles. He tries to go back inside the house but I won't let him in till he does he morning wee. He walks to the edge of the path and pee, gives me a look as though saying 'there, i did it' and then waddles back into the house still grumbling till he goes into his day bed. He stops grumbling then but that's because he fell back to sleep. He doesn't wake up when I take my girl, Emmy, for a walk. When I do come back and say 'Charlie. Your turn. Lets Go'.. he open his eyes and lays there to think about it. Then ever so slowly gets up and walks to his area he goes to so I can leash him up. If it's cold, we walk to the letter box and he turns around back to the house again, but if it's a nice morning, we will walk down the street. He is such a funny little fella... he is a senior citizen by the age of 2 years old!! Anyone else dog has an attitude problem? :p
-
Why can't you walk him with stitches? Not long walks, but a walk around the block or something? My vet told me I should. As long as I don't get the stitches wet and the walk isn't too hard, it's ok to walk them.

I use either Corn flour or soap to stop the bleeding. When I cut Emmy's nail to short and it started bleeding.. I shoved cheese in her mouth straight away (I always have it on standby for just in case) before she could react, put her paw in a bucket of flour.. she loved it. She thought she was getting cheese for putting her paw in a bucket.. a few days after I had that same small bucket next to the fridge and she walked over and put the same paw in there and looked at me as though she is asking 'do i get cheese now?'

Never heard of that syndrome before.. but some Asian people don't like black dog because they do feel it's bad luck, and also they like things all bright.. so they will stick to the white, gold and light colours things. It's not just with dogs, it's with everything else. Saying that, my dad now owns a black cat name Ninja and nickname Evil Ninja (but that's cause he is really evil). Someone told me that they don't like black dog because it's harder to read their facial expression and that can be scary. Personally for me, I always preferred light colour dogs BUT saying that if I came across a black dog with awesome temperament and that fits into my family, then I will get that dog

Ohh.. I'm trying to get together a trip with Emmy. We are planning on going to Dinner Plains.

I won't tie my dogs outside at the shop but I don't have a problem leaving them in the car with 1 one down a couple of cms if it's a cool evening or so... but it's never long, maybe about 10 minutes tops.. it all depends how busy the shops are. I remember sitting in the car and Charlie was sitting in his booster chair, I had so many random people sticking their hands through their window trying to pat him... luckily he doesn't mind. But, I don't want to think what will happen if that was Emmy... she is wary of strangers and needs room to back away, but if she is in the car in her harness, she can't move to get away... Charlie always comes with me when I get my petrol filled and i keep the windows up because I don't want him to smell the fume. The dogs ate my Fil 'o fish once when I ran back into Maccas because I forgot to get a thickshake for the boyfriend...
