  1. BUMP I have a camera refer to first post
  2. Do you think this is because they are SO close in age? Great thread I find reading about people's experiences with same sex aggression interesting, never having experienced it myself. I have never owned a female dog of my own, however I could not think of a worse way to live (Musical Rooms). My mum plays musical rooms with her 3 dogs and it drives me mental when I go there, you have to be so alert all the time, it is ok when two are outside but when they are inside plus the cat it is actually highly stressful.
  3. We are planning on going, would be great to meet Earl and see Rosie again. Hopefully will see lots of DOLers
  4. I saw that office works had the Canon 1000D out for $549 rang up and the last one was sold in SA 3 days ago. So SA is sold out Super disappointed as I would have gladly paid that for brand new. I guess I will just have to keep my out out. Huga- The white dog thing is definitely a challenge, but when they come of 'right' boy is it satisfying, even if they are few and far between. Sid is absolutely stunning and I love the chair growth chart you have started. great idea
  5. It definitely is easier spending others money but at least you didn't blow it out of the park only an extra $100 My issue is are these cameras complicated? I notice lots of people with Canon, I am just unsure if it would be out of my capability range for the time being if that makes sense?
  6. This may sound silly but I am totally new to this, what does grey market actually mean and what does DWI stand for? How do you check if they are in stock? Just email them?
  7. I have a CAMERA! So excited to share this, I got a Canon 1000D with Twin Lens kit. Today was my first day with it so just beginning my SLR journey. Question: on the large screen can you make it so you see the image as you are trying to take the picture, like you do with a compact camera? Or do you always look through the ‘peep hole’? Sorry if I am not making sense or using the right terms, still learning. I have found it all relatively easy so far, but need to work out all the technical terms and options available. Anyway here is a picture I took today with it. This is Oscar right after having a big romp with his staffy ball today, so quite dirty...
  8. Sooooo Cute! I bet you are going to have a ball with him, he looks like such a character. Keep us updated and congratulations!
  9. Yes an absolute great bone to feed, I get them cut in half and freeze them, Oscar eats them frozen. $1.50 is cheap... 60c is INCREDIBLY cheap I wish mine were that cheap I pay around $3 each.
  10. Hi, just wondering what your club is? I am also on the Fleurieu Peninsula (Strathalbyn) and I have struggled to find anything decent in the area.
  11. Yep, we have thick and dense pieces of foam cut to size (from Clarke Rubber) and then I made covers for the foam out of polar fleece and cotton....just to protect the foam from being ripped/dug to shreds from the "getting comfy" routine that happens at night in their crates. The covers are easy to slip off and wash too, leaving the foam relatively clean (and clean smelling!) The price will vary on the density of the foam, so just go have a look and see what suits Just wondering roughly how much it is to get foam cut? How much were yours? The crate measures around 1m x 55cm. SecretKei it is actually the one I purchased from you. Love the pics Spotted Devil, he isn't a real destroyer anymore so I am lucky there but for a while he did have a cushion fetish :D Thanks so much for the response guys.
  12. Oscar gets a LOT of attention, I went to a market with a family member and she couldn't believe how often we get stopped. We got so much attention we invested in a harness from K9 Pro that says 'Please give me space- Do not pet', not because of aggression but because people would approach without asking to pat/play/talk to him and he is already an EXTREMELY EXCITABLE dog so all of that was going against our training. I find we mainly get men (of all ages), some older women (usually 40+), kids will often point oooo and aaaa at a distance but very rarely approach us. I find that when parents see us they actually pulled their children away, Oscar may not even be looking at them and it makes me wonder by doing such things are they making their children fear larger dogs?
  13. Thanks for the response guys, so do you have a foam base then added blankets/towels on top of that or they make up the base? I was thinking of trying to get a thick piece of foam cut to size?
  14. I am wanting to get a thicker mat for Oscar's crate. He currently uses the one it came with and I have added another piece of foam to it but it still doesn't seem very thick/comfy. In Winter it isn't such a big deal because he has a blanket but too hot in Summer. So I am looking for inexpensive ideas that other people use/have used in their crates?
  15. Thanks so much for sharing Great clip, great dog, hope she wins!
  16. Fantastic looking boy, I like number 4- great profile shot.
  17. Great survey, just completed it. Really make you think about your dog in more in depth. Thanks for the opportunity to participate, eagerly await results and good luck
  18. My boy isn't 70kg but still heavy enough and strong enough to put up a fight, but never does. My thing was when he was a puppy and even to this day I play with his feet, touch them, pat them, check in between his pads, check nails etc so he is used to me touching the area. He doesn't get long nails much (only really ever clip the dew claws) but when he does I normally do them while he is asleep. I have a good pair of clippers from K9 Pro made by Herm Springer. Half the time he doesn't even wake up. So maybe try doing it while they are sleeping and work on touching the foot area more regularly?
  19. We use one of these http://www.saddleworldmaddington.com.au/de...-with-rake.html Large basket, no bending required, a little exy but in the long run well worth it, made very sturdy and last for years.
  20. I have the exact same problem with my dog and being extremely distracted outside the house, to the point where he won't take a treat. Have just ordered the Sample Pack of the Happy Paws Training Treats, thanks for the recommendation
  21. Thinking of changing to Canidae so just looking for updates on how your dogs have been doing on it over the period?
  22. x 2 What a spunk!!! He has such a soulful expression. *heart melts!* Thanks he does have an old soul I think, we often say that he has a Grumpy Old Man/Eeyore complex, around new people and other dogs is when he becomes ALIVE and CRAZY to play play play
  23. Oscar is no fool either, he watches me head for the freezer (is already sitting outside the kitchen drooling and waiting), watches me unwrap it, promptly follows me outside where he quickly jumps on his bed, sits, waits, drools... then eats So no he does not think I am a great hunter
  24. I have absolutely no experience in getting dogs clipped but it seems more than reasonable to me. I live in a small SA town where a groomer has just set up a home business, rang her re price etc I was thrilled with the price. $25 for a wash, blow dry, brush, ear clean and nail trim, Oscar has literally no hair so no clipping is ever required She said it would take around 45 minutes which is usual for him. So if you were to add in a clip you would expect to pay at LEAST double the $25 surely. Stick to your prices
  25. OSCAR IS A SPUNK ! Gorgeous boy He looks like a decent sized Amstaff! Do u put sunscreen on him at the beach? The sunscreen is a never ending battle with him. We have tried the Zinc Sticks for easy application, however he hates it, tries to lick it off and generally runs away when it comes out. Mainly with him Sun= Inside or Shade, which he also disapproves of lol. We have been looking into that Filta-Bac, which I only saw last week in the pet shop, however I am skeptical on how long it would last around his mouth but will be giving that a go for sure. Any experience with dog sunscreens?
