I agree sometimes we analyse our pets too much looking for the perfect pet/training partner or what ever. I see you are having a training seminar with Steve K9 Force coming up I have been a fan of Steve's for many years now and truly believe him to be the best behavourist/trainer in Australia. I have done many of his seminars and everytime I come away with something new, I love the way he can gets into the minds of how dogs think he has a passion about helping people understand their pets issues. Steve's methods work this has been proven time and time again, this is why people go to Steve to fix what others can't. Just enjoy your dogs until you see Steve, he is fantastic and will be able to answer all your questions and he will send you on the right direction for training for Ness & Kenzie. You won't be disappointed I promise you of that. I saw your DWD Utube clip Well Done

Any Way Of Keeping Neighbour's Cat Out Of My Yard?
BC4ME replied to chichihuahua's topic in General Dog Discussion
Set up a sprinkler, super soaker, water gun or soaker hose to a sensor or wait up until it comes past turn on the water and wham cat scoots away remember cats don't like water. It will take patience but it's worth it and nobody really gets hurt. Cats are creature of habit so it will probaly return you will have to do this for a few nights until it gets the idea to bugger off. -
Vet clinics are often busy places where the staff quite often don't get to stop for lunch but usually manage to grab something (often unhealthy) to eat on the run. Why not make a fruit platter for them and attach a card so all the staff can enjoy, remember it took more than just the vet to operate on your pet. As you said money is tight and this can be an inexpensive way of saying thankyou and I'm sure they will all appreciate your generosity. I often do this at our clinic and I just cut lots of different types of fruit into small pieces and leave it on our back bench near the door. Everyone that walks past will take a piece.

I would have a someone else walk with you but this person should be armed with a video camera. Get everything that this woman does and show it to the police they may take you more seriously then and if anything does happen at least you have a record of it.

Years ago I had an old shepherd who's arthritis always played up in summer I put it down to him laying on the concrete more to keep cool and he seemed to be more active as well so this probably agrivated his joints even more.

Hi Bec Well Done Daisy. Don't worry what other people think or say about what you do with your training. Often people say and do things because they have no idea in what you are doing. Ignore them and take the compliments you get when people say how well behaved Daisy is and how far you both have come with your training. Keep up the good work Maree

My expectations of both Chook (or any of my dogs) & myself are quite high and when it doesn't happen it means my training isn't right and I don't have that horrible F word "Focus". You know that saying "Practise makes Permanent" well I need to do better Practise. I am finding it very frustrating as I know Chook can perform quite well but I don't have focus and that is my main problem. I am just disappointed at the moment and need to recharge the batteries to get back to basics.

OOOOO Steve's going to buy Camp Tailwaggers and we are all moving into the cabins for permanent training :D :D No seriously can't wait to hear what you have up your sleeve I think I need to start all over again with Chook

Congrats to Mrs D who got a qualie in Dances with Dogs at Springwood today. Well Done to you and Jarrah ;) How did we go???????????? Anyone want a slightly used, unattentive, floor smelling Border Collie????? Going cheap at the moment.

I'm pleased that everyone enjoyed the dances with dogs It is difficult to just put on a piece of music and just starts working to it. Especially when there are so many distractions around and lots of dogs working in the same area. But I think we managed to pull it off. Just a little background about Dances with Dogs sport. There are 2 disiplines within the sport, Freestyle which is all the tricks and the other is Heelwork to Music (HTM for short). Your routine can be from 1 - 4 minutes long. In HTM your routine content must contain a minimum of 60% Heelwork. There are 8 different positions around your body that the dogs can work in. In Freestyle your choreography is only limited by your imagination and your dogs ability. Your costume, music and/or routine must not be offensive or sexually suggestive in language or presentation. The dogs are only allowed to wear a decorative/co-ordinated neck collar or scarf (you cannot dress your dog up) The sport is open to any breed of dog. The dogs that performed for you yesterday are of different breeds, ages and abilities. Angie and Karen with the Malinios' and Mrs D with her Kelpie Jarrah are Intermediate & Novice level (if I remember correctly) Chook is only at starter level (hopefully tomorrow we can get his title tomorrow ) It is a great sport to do with your dog and I think it is much harder than obedience as you not only have to work with your dog as a team but do it in time to the music and under high distractions as we usually perform in front of a noisy crowd who are encouraged to clap and sing along with the music. But it is soooo much fun teaching your dogs tricks. Glad you all enjoyed the day :p Maybe one day we might see Steve with a Shepherd (or a poodle maybe????) dancing wouldn't that be nice..

I was up the back with the shepherd. I was sitting next to Sparky in the morning and Seita in arvo. And that lady with the two border collies (chook and something else) was on my right. THere must have been more dolers than not there. Hey Wildatheart that was me with Chook and Styler we should have all stood up and introduced ourselves a the beginning of the day Oh well at the next seminar.
-
I think I really only spoke to 2 people from DOL (Seita & Huski cos they are the only 2 I recognised), it's really hard cos you look like a right d*ck going around to everyone saying "Are you a DOLer?", most people must look at you & think "Are you one of the crazies?" ;) . ETA - Ohh & of course BC4Me is from DOL, but she doesnt count cos she's crazy and a DOLer ETAA - it's easier too when you have an easily recognisable dog ie Daisy being a Beagle & Jarah being a kelpie, also when you are made to get up in front of everyone & do something (Daisy's demo & our dancing routines ). Me crazy NEVER it is just the rest of the world that is straight & boring ....... It was certainly another great day of learning and it was good to see the evil beagle strut her stuff, Daisy is certainly doing well I hope to see her in the trial ring soon. Seita it was lovely to see Ella's focus while working it was an awesome sight. And Steve you looked very cute with the poodle. Thanks Steve for giving up some of your time I know you have a big week-end planned down at Camp Tailwaggers and it was great that you could condense so much into such a small amount of time. It was good to catch up again. I'll let you know how Chook & I do on Sunday fingers crossed

Thanks everyone I am liking "Strength is not just for the mighty" so far but keep the ideas coming. And yes it is a lovely photo, Issy was 4 days old in that photo and struggling to survive. I find it amazing that we were all so worried and cried so many tears for her but this little person just kept on fighting and amazing us with her strength. Thank you all again keep the ideas coming though.

Hey Nic Ella should be fine it sounds as though you caught it early enough. You will have to keep her quiet for a few weeks so she can recover from both the tick itself and the anti serum. Fingers crossed for you both for a speedy recovery. BC4ME

Hi Everyone Last July my grandaughter (Isabella) was born 7 weeks premmie and has had a very difficult time trying to stay alive. My son (dad, Steven) snapped this photo on his mobile phone while she was in Intensive Care and we where not sure if she was going to make it. Fortunately Issy is a fighter and has pulled through all her obsticales and is home doing well. I have decided to get the photo framed for Steven's birthday this week-end and I am putting it in a silver frame but I would like to engrave something on the frame to reflect the emotions we all went through but not sure what to get engraved. Just a small quote to sum everything up would be wonderful. I thought "Holding on forever", "A Dad' hand is alway's there" anyone got anything better???? Thanks Maree Oopps forgot to add the photo

Don't suppose Chook is a red staffy? I had to rehome my 'Chook' a few months ago as he wasn't so good with my sons friends and cousins, but never believed there could be another dog called 'Chook'!!! Still miss him like crazy! I know its a long-shot that it could be yours, but have my fingers crossed I may get to see him again on the 20th Nov! Sorry to break it to you MsBex, but BC4ME's Chook is a border collie Oh well ... it was a long shot! Not that I won't be still happy to meet border collie Chook Thanks Huski That's ok you can't not be happy when you meet Chook he is such a clown
