  1. I wish I knew Megz, the one I bought for Fern is still in perfect shape 3 years later and I have no idea of the brand. Only the gold colour has faded but it still suits her beautifully. Mrs Rust Bucket you have no idea. I could show Fern on a piece of cotton. The chain is for looks.

  3. before my friend fostered her very first greyhound, someone who had one in a different state, told her she should never get one and she, my friend, would have nothing but trouble. The reverse has been true, there has never been a moments trouble with the greys and the fences. My friend introduces all the new greys to the fences on lead, lets them off lead only when the others are locked away etc. If my friend had listened to the naysayer, there would have been a few dozen less greys fostered and several delighful greys miss out on the best possible home they could ever have had.
  4. my friend has had quite a few over the years, she lives on 100 acres anything is possible if you really want it. But I was told they would run thru the ringlock fences and that would really hurt.....and 100 acres probably have less fences than our 40. hers have all respected the fences, ordinary cattle fences, the house yard and most (maybe all) of the fences have a hot wire on them cause of the cattle. They can put up a bunny, chase it to the fence and they stop. Or at least they run up and down the fence for a bit. No attempt to get through or to jump over it. All have caught bunnies before, a couple just in the last week in the house yard. She does have a fully enclosed (with a roof) dog run for them when she goes out.

  6. why is your sister's dog odd? you mentioned it twice. Mine have lived with up to 4 cats at a time, 10 wouldn't faze them except for the competition for the softest, bestest bed
  7. Sorry but this is so not true & i do wish people would not make such claims when they have no idea about the breed agree, all my greyhounds have been able to be left alone with the cats, never seperated them, except for newly fostered or adopted ones. I do use baby gates etc to stop the dogs running around or getting into a bit of a rumble when I am not home, but they are not used to protect the cats.
  8. thanks, I show off my dogs and cats any chance I get
  9. Was it mine Rebanne Timing would about right. I just to hope that I can make it now... we are going on hols the next day, hence why I am only entering the one day. yes yours
  10. The last photo was my boy Sam, he would chase anything that moved, including paper blowing down the street, but never put a foot wrong with my cats and of course was never off lead outside the property.
  11. 5 greyhounds with cats, 3 adopted as adults, one came into the house at 8 weeks, one born here
  12. so excited, got my 1st neuter entry today
  13. for a greyhound go through a reputable adoption group. They can match the greyhound to your circumstances. Cat friendly, home alone, only dog, good with kids. May take a few weeks/months to get the right one. I would never let one off lead unless in a fully enclosed area, don't care how well trained they might be. They are greyt pets! Greyhound breed breed sub forum
  14. if reputable breeders don't advertise in places like the trading post where can the public get their nice well bred dogs? As long as the breeder vets all people who approach them for a puppy it doesn't matter where they advertise.
  15. I wouldn't agree to any of that. Was looking to get a pup from OS, there was going to be some breeding terms on him, but we never got that far as said pup turned out not to be suitable. I did have it in my mind what I would or wouldn't agree too and if the conditions were not to my liking I would have walked away. I'm importing semen instead, no strings attached, and will happily sell a pup to my competition, also no strings attached, as long as I am satisfied they are the right home. I am here for the breed not the personalities.
  16. yeah there are breeders and then there are breeders aren't there? Maybe for those you don't have contact with you could just send a note with it saying: "I hope you don't mind... just wanted to give pup a gift for his birthday... etc. so now breeders who don't send birthday cards and presents are not quite right?
  17. Why? Would it be an invasion of privacy for you? I think I would like it, but I also understand why breeders don't.. It'd be an unexpected and pleasant surprise. not sure I can give an adequate answer. It would feel weird is the closest I can come too. It sort of gives me the creeps. It is not something I would do for my puppy buyers. Closest I've got is to wish Paige a happy birthday on facebook. I can see myself sending out a happy birthday email but an actual card and/or gift - no I doubt very much I'll ever do that.
  18. You need to do some research. Greyhound trainers have to account to the GRV for every greyhound they dispose of. And, having worked in shelters, I can tell you, there are much worse things being done to dogs, all breeds, than shooting them.
  19. pure bred, registered dogs? In 10 years of working in a shelter I can tell you very few dogs that came in were registered purebreds. Very few dogs came in that even looked purebred. Most larger cross breed's that came in are not a cross between 2 purebreeds but a heinze 57. People like to say their mutt is a cross between this breed and that but the reality is they are just mutt's, their sire was a mutt, their dam was a mutt. People just label their dogs to what they look like. My mutt is registered as a beagle cross foxie cause that is what she most's looks like and if she got lost someone might recognise her form that description but the truth is she is a mutt, a pure bred mongrel.
  20. naw I'm not fussed. I try and avoid poles etc growing out of the dogs body somewhere and I have been known to photoshop out the junk corner that lives in my bedroom but that's about it :D
