  1. Neither of these dogs are puppies. I too think you need to engage someone who is able to correctly assess the behaviour. Kathy is very good http://www.kathysdogtraining.com.au/
  2. Teach a hand touch...once you have it consistent and on cue you can ask for a high hand touch just as you step off...most times this will put the dog in an animated trot. As in all trained behaviours make sure you split and not lump. In other words do a hand touch and one or two steps...big party! Randomly reward at one step, three steps, five steps, two steps etc etc.
  3. Thats where I buy mine from too. Highly recommended
  4. Another thought.... chase and tug games are like hunt and kill, food is the end product and is a natural tranquilliser. Oversimplified but I think of food as static and tug and chase is for driving and speed. I admit to being a huge food user and my dogs are very motivated by it but I also find exciting ways to use it...two food games and jackpots. I am training my youngster with either food or tug as his reward but he is super strong and tuggy can be painful for me sometimes
  5. Thanks mirawee... We are on early 9am I think...(must have a look at the schedule) Same day as Group 1...I hope none of those littlies are in season...he might just seek back all the way to a bitch! Good luck with your pony...what side of the arena are you showing on?
  6. Our next one is next weekend at the Royal. Dunno about that one...its a really tough ask especially as its now on the showing arena.
  7. If its not taken already I would LOVE the agility tunnel...
  8. Awesome...I want some!!! Just can't tell the family what's in the bottom drawer of the freezer...they balk at chicken feet...can't imagine what they would say about duck feet!!!!
  9. We can commiserate together xena!!! We forgot to sit in the PIM...first time ever! I think he is just exhausting all the ways to DQ! Hopefully we'll crack a pass when he gets it all out of his system When is your next trial?

  16. Nope...doing my bit to educate someone on the benefits of going for a registered pure breed over a pet shop mix ;) Planning a new addition? :D Thanks mirawee!
  17. I had a bad dress rehersal yesterday....seekback...hmmm can't find it ....this'll keep her happy...NOT!!! After a time out and playtime for the puppy we had another go and it was a pretty good session...he still hates the scented wash cloth in the middle though.
  18. No doubt it can be taught.... personally I would never trust in it though. Better to put your efforts into building a bigger fence ;) Don't you hate it when you can't trust your neighbours!!! Yeah Kavik, Essentially it teaches the dog to only accept food from their bowl and from now where else...I want to teach it to my dog as well as I dont trust one of my neighbours, he doesnt like my dog and I suspect him capable of feeding my dog rat poison or lacing a piece of stack with some sort of poison and chucking it over the fence. It is used alot with security and and guard dogs. So +1 if anyone has any material. Thanks
  19. Anyone know which day Chihuahua's are on at the Royal?
  20. Yep....work out your footwork hand signal combination...keep it absolutely consistent and if necessary go back a step and re=train her to your new down language. I had one on Saturday as well all I kept thinking was - stay with me Lot, stay with me Lot!! I have a bit of a question for the gurus :D I really need to work on Lotties drops - at the trial on Sat, during both rounds Lottie missed a drop - she just stood there looking at me, and the ones she got weren't as nice and snappy as I would like. I got the clicker out today, and really worked on nice sharp drops, to reinforce them again, but is there anything I should be trying??
