  1. Can you put in a doggy door? Or stay outside during the day?
  2. My Poodle is only curly when I don't brush her. :D When she is all brushed or blow-dried her coat is wavy. ETA: Her coat is quite fuzzy and very poofy though.
  3. I'm not a huge fan of long term non-steroidals but sometimes its damned if you do, damned if you don't. It will certainly help her current problem though. Has she had bloods done recently? My two oldies (will be 10yrs and 11yrs soon) are on daily glucosamine tablets, daily Sasha's Blend and regular cartrophen injections. I have definitely noticed an improvement, especially in my old girl.
  4. Toy: Italian Greyhound Small: Mini Poodle or Whippet Medium: Border Collie or Aussie Shepherd Large: Greyhound or Std Poodle Giant: not sure :)
  5. Well I was thinking I might take Mum because she is considering a Whippet for her next dog, and thought maybe I could bring my Greyhound along too. She loves Whippets and people. :)
  6. The Australian Canine Eye Scheme is a standardised set of questions/examinations. The same things are checked on every dog and measured/recorded in the same way. I believe the UK method is the same. As I said though, there is no clear/unclear as such. Variations, minor issues and major issues are recorded. A dog can be marked as unfit for breeding. But generally ectropion/entropion doesn't exclude a dog from breeding. So a Labrador comes in. It is checked for PRA, cataracts etc and marked as unaffected. However it has mild entropion. This dog would get its eye certificate and is clear for the known inherited conditions. However even though the entropion is noted on the form, it doesn't necessarily exclude the dog from breeding.
  7. Gawd I'm in trouble! I cuddle dozens of different dogs at work every day!
  8. Just to clarify, an eye certificate doesn't really pass or fail a dog. There is nothing on there to say a dog can't be shown. Specialists can make comments to say a dog is unsuitable for breeding. Eyelid abnormalities are noted on the form but do not exclude a dog from the ring. A dog can have a current eye certificate - doesn't mean there aren't lots of negative comments on it!
  9. I'm out. Just lost my babysitter.
  10. Greyhound lounging (that is a large 3-seater couch):
  11. Hahaha Sal, that photo of Dizzy and Ziggy is priceless!!! My Lab x GSP is a professional eater. His record is about 5kg of cat biscuits in one sitting. He also eats rabbit pellets, poo (of any variety), rubbish and even lemons and plums (stones included).
  12. Haha yes nothing lounges quite like a Greyhound. :) Greyhounds are good at racing and coursing. They can also do obedience and agility - but only if they feel like it. ;)
  13. She will probably growl-whine at everyone. That is how she greets new dogs - tail wagging, grumbling and whining at the same time. She wants to play but is a big sook. I will have to bath her though! Will be embarrassed to bring her in her current wild-beast state! LOL
  14. He is so handsome staffyluv. :) Just gorgeous. :)
  15. Gorgeous photos!! I saw Emus in the wild for the first time recently! It was at Wilsons Prom. I was very excited. :)
  16. I'm still hoping to come! I might bring Pia (Greyhound) and Toby (Std Poodle). Toby can be a bit unsure of other dogs though, so hopefully she behaves! She is not nasty, just a big chicken!
  17. My sister and her boyfriend bought a Rotti pup and have been firm and consistent with her from the get-go. She is a lovely, confident, well-behaved, social dog. Yes, she is head-strong, but she is well-mannered and gorgeous. Their friend bought a pup from the same litter and did nothing with him. He is apparently very dominant, dog aggressive and just not a nice dog to be around. As with most breeds, you get out what you put in.
  18. I watched some of it but I can't get sound. I'm not defending the vet or the new rules, I'm just saying that we don't know the full story.
  19. I don't know lilli. And as I said earlier, I don't think this system is great. However, at least it is making breeders think and talk about the possible problems in their breeds. I just don't understand how the pedigree dog world evolved to a point where dogs that are born to need surgery are considered normal?
  20. Is that the video from this actual show?
  21. Perhaps take the water away at 8-9pm and start feeding him in the morning instead. I would also try getting up half an hour earlier (as hard as it may be!!) and tip-toeing to the laundry and taking him outside. For what its worth, my Greyhound took ages to grasp toilet training. She is great now though. :)
  22. Also, we only know what the owner of the Bulldog is telling us. The dog might have been DQ'd for breathing problems or for being obese or for any other reason.
