  1. Not sure about the system overseas, but in Australia they eye screening tests MUST be done by accredited eye specialists. The examination covers all parts of the eye including the eyelids. The specialist can select affected/not affected for certain conditions and can note any abnormalities. Ectropion would certainly be mentioned if it was present. ETA: a scar on the cornea would also be noted however the specialist wouldn't know if it was due to random injury or injury caused by previously-fixed entropion, etc.
  2. I'm so sorry for your loss.
  3. I am so sorry Rach. Don't blame yourself though - you rescued her and gave her 10 long, happy years that she would otherwise never have had. RIP Tess
  4. Perhaps feed him earlier on? Say 5-6pm every night. And also perhaps don't leave water down for him overnight.

  6. I think it is a step in the right direction. Not perfect, but at least it is getting breeders to sit up and pay attention! At work, we see so many purebred dogs with features that cause them discomfort - yet they are seen as shining examples of the breed?? Breeding a dog who cannot walk properly, breathe properly or breed normally is just wrong.
  7. You will probably have to travel to see a specialist. Only one I know of is Melb Vet Specialist Centre in Mt Waverley. :)
  8. Sounds like Pia! We were in the backyard once, the dogs were all running around being silly when suddenly Pia starts SCREAMING and hopping on 3 legs. I panicked and thought for sure she had broken her leg. Checked her out and found a bit of tan bark between her toes...
  9. They are so cute! And look at those tails! Definitely sighthound tails. :)
  10. Yes it is. :) With a view through to the soccer stadium.
  11. Oh ok, I thought it was missing bits! :) I LOVE the roman-nosed Greys. :)
  12. Oh I think he is gorgeous Annie! He looks quite Borzoi-ish! :) ETA What happened to his ear?
  13. Oh no, what a worry. Keeping everything crossed she is found ASAP.
  14. Thanks pers, love this app! Tried it out today and it's great! Stupid photobucket has ruined them though. Anyway here they are: View from the 11th floor at work. These pics were taken through a very dirty window unfortunately but I just love the view from up there! The Eureka Tower (same window, different angle) The Rialto (different window) And lastly, the sunset at home tonight
  15. Sounds interesting, but I don't really get the point? I imagine if you are chemically neutering the dog, it will have the same effect on hormones, etc as surgically neutering it. Is it just to save an anaesthetic/surgery? I guess it will be a lot cheaper than surgery so perhaps make desexing more accessible for people with limited money. Perhaps be good for street dogs too.
  16. That was so gorgeous!! And OMG that cat is HUGE! :)
  17. Its not funny that the poor deer got chased away, and they are very lucky there wasn't a traffic accident... BUT the owner screaming "FENTON!!" as the dog runs off oblivious is hilarious.
  18. I find it hard to distinguish between friendly 'posturing' and 'i will go you if you move' posturing. We had two dogs at work recently who greeted each other in the waiting room. Both owners were watching closely and one even said "I'm not sure which way this is going to go!". Both dogs were stiff legged, tails upright and wagging slightly, licking lips, but sniffing each other. I felt that there was either a play bow imminent or a lunge! In the end (thankfully) both dog's owners went their seperate ways. There was absolutely no aggression shown but I found it hard to interpret their behaviour. Another time I had to ask a client to move away when she insisted on trying to let her huge dog 'meet' a very young pup in the waiting room. I was holding the pup's lead while the owner did paperwork and the big dog was very stiff, licking it's lips and staring very intently at the pup, who was sitting behind my legs. To me, it seemed almost like predatory behaviour and made me very nervous. The owner said he just wanted to meet the pup but that was not the vibe I was getting!
  19. We had a 4mth old Cane Corso pup come into work today! He was so so squishy and saggy and OMG his feet! So massive! I've never seen one in real life before and this little dude was just gorgeous. They seem like awesome dogs and sound a lot like Bullmastiffs in temperament. Is that a fair assessment?
  20. If he is otherwise well, he doesn't need antibiotics or anything. I just use Benadryl to treat the cough, keep them warm and away from other dogs. I personally wouldn't worry about seeing a vet unless he gets worse.
  21. Not sure sorry, but I would be getting her checked by a skin specialist. Who knows how much worse it is going to get - and there is a chance it wasn't a spider at all. I had a cat get bitten by a spider on the tip of her ear recently. I think it was just a house spider or similar. All the hair on her ear fell out and it had pimply lumps all over it. It cleared up on its own in a few weeks.
  22. Yep that's the one. Its so cute. :)
