  2. He's doing great. None the wiser for missing some of his tail :-)
  3. hmm, I'm hoping infected happy tail requiring amputation comes under number 8 :-/
  4. I think you made the best call, given the infection is showing no improvement. Hope it all goes well :) Now he will look American! It really was disgusting poor boy,not that it seemed to bother him at all. He's home now. Doped up to the eyeballs, but has pain meds and antibiotics and a very well padded stump.
  5. Was just coming in to post what my insurance policy states, but see now that your's is the same. So you get one episode covered but if it happens again then they won't pay. 5. more than one (1) incident of swallowing a foreign object that causes a blockage or obstruction requiring surgical or endoscopic removal per Policy Period;
  6. Let us know how you get on Boronia I'm surprised its not covered...surely its why we have insurance. I will be making a claim on my pet insurance soon so hopefully I don't find myself in the same situation
  7. Thanks all. He's having surgery today. It was still badly infected at our visit this morning and likely osteomyelitis so together we decided to just progress to surgery when in all likelihood we would have end up there anyway.
  8. Hmm, thanks all. Vet said infection was deep so I don't like our chances. Appointment this week so we'll see what it looks like then :-(
  9. First time in his 6 years my GSP has split open his tail tip. Its not healing and now deep infection. He's on oral antibiotics and tail bandaged and most recent vet visit they applied skin glue to try give another level of protection. We are aware of the difficulty of healing these injuries and also the need to sometimes amputate so would really appreciate people's experiences please. How long do you keep trying to heal it? Is it better to amputate sooner rather than later etc? Thanks
  10. hmm, yes I would have to agree with that. Mixed into a diluted shampoo will definitely lessen the possibility but yes, proceed with caution around white grout! hmmm. Well the floor grout is a brown/beige colour...but the walls are white. Its regularly doused in flaming red hair hair dye without much problem. I shall proceed with caution.
  11. oh really. Bummer. now what do I do??? I was just about to order some.
  12. Awesome. Thanks so much BB. When you say dry start...you mean don't wet him first? OH takes him in the shower and washes him so will have to tell him not to wet first if so.
  13. I have a black and white short haired dog. He has a lot of white on his body...and I've noticed its become really grey/yellow. I understand whitening shampoo can be quite harsh so wondering if anyone can give me some ideas of what I could use to bring back the white of his coat. He gets washed regularly...we did change brand of shampoo regularly so wondering if that has something to do with it. TIA
  14. Thanks. My local foodland doesn't but I'll see if they will do an order
  15. Can anyone in Adelaide direct me to a reliable ongoing source of Turkey necks please.
  16. Please tell us the story again about Stan trying to escape from the car when maddie poo'd lol
  17. You could try happy house sitters. Www.happyhousesitters.com.au
  18. Oh lord I want an iggy soooo baaaadddddd! Shame they kinda aren't compatible with a goofy nut of a GSP. Sigh, one day.
  19. Well I've just told miss16 about the equine science degree at CSU. I think she's planning on packing her bags and moving to Wagga already! LOL.
  20. The one through Macquarie? In Adelaide. However once she knows there is an equine one that can be done externally I think she'll aim for that.
  21. There are Equine Science degrees she might want to look into. Thanks. Didn't know they existed. google and found one at Wagga Wagga and asked for info from CSU for an external course.
  22. Miss16 is hoping to start bachelor of science (animal behaviour)in 2015. She is currently picking subjects for year 12. Anyone do this degree and end up working with horses?
