  1. I can second Fiona and nick at hawthorn. Love em!
  2. Thanks everyone, lots of suggestions for me to go and check out
  3. i want a mat for under water bowl, but one that "holds" water so it's not soggy like using a towel would be. I found one on www.Orvis.com but they don't ship to Oz. Anyone know of anything similar here?
  4. So sorry to hear this Rozzie
  5. I have had the Pleasure to be on the receiving end of Snooks kindness, generosity and general awesomeness, so I agree, DOL can't be a truly great place to find some great people
  6. While I was making lunch I had a look at the dessert section. I now have the apples and rice recipe cooking away. Can't wait until after dinner now
  7. Just got mine I had no idea you could do desserts in a slow cooker so I am doubley pleased :D
  8. So sorry....but this really made me LOL
  9. Most of my family think we are crazy, silly dog people and think its "disgusting" that our almost 2 year old GSP sleeps in our daughters beds. I think its sad that they have never experienced that strong emotional bond that comes from that sort of relationship (they all have dogs that are just left outside by themselves all day ). To see my grumpy hormonal attitude adjustment needing 16 year son snuggle with our GSP makes me see that he (my son)is a really soft and gentle young man deep down! I work from home and Hugo is by my side all day and he brings me so much joy, love and laughter. Can't imagine being without him
  10. I posted about my GSP pups constant need to be with me 24/7. He still wants to be with me lots but goes outside by himself without issues now so he just grew up I guess. I also posted that he wouldn't go outside when it was raining....he still doesn't like it but he's worked out where the best shelter is while he's doing a wee....he still lifts 2 paws up though so his feet don't get as wet All the issues I had when he was a pup are all dealt with now
  11. Not much interest in their owners!!!!???? GSP's are Velcro dogs, you can't even go to the toilet without them lol!
  12. Thanks for replies. I had orignally thought of leaving him in my room but being the velcro dog that he is I don't think he would cope with not being with people at the party! LOL Going to family isn't an option as everyone will be at the party. I've had a look at Harmony Paws and they have cats...Hugo doesn't know what a cat is so I have no idea if he would be ok with them
  13. Can anyone recommend pet sitting in Adelaide please. Just need for one night as have daughters 18th birthday here and people will be coming and going and afraid Hugo will get out through gates etc. Contacted Don't fret pet but its a minimum 2 nights charge. I vaguely remember an adelaide based pet sitting services but can't remember the name?
  14. YES! I've just ordered a new coverlet for my bed (for the dog really!) to replace the white one that I am forever washing (even though the dogs blanket goes over the top, he still manages to make it dirty ) so while I won't see the dirt it will now be covered in white hair.....although I figure it will go nicely with the new black and white quilt cover!
  15. Thanks for your help. He's only off lead in our garden, so hasn't been running through the bush anywhere. I'll give him a good check tomorrow.
  16. Thanks. So I shouldn't panic unless I see symptoms then? He has just been in our garden and on normal walks on suburban streets. No bush walking arounds that I am aware of (would have to check with OH though). No interstate travel. What I removed was really tiny, didn't look like it was swollen with blood, and would have easily missed if we weren't really looking closely. Doubt we would have felt it either as so tiny. He is asleep (in his usual spot on daughters bed). do I need to check him now or is tomorrow ok?
  17. I've just read the tick info thats pinned but its about paralysis ticks. We live in South Australia, and I've never seen a tick on any dogs I have ever owned. I have just removed a brown 'tick' from my GSP. He is not unwell in any way. Daughter mentioned to me a couple of days ago about seeing a little black dot on his leg but we forgot about it, and he isn't unwell or displaying any symptoms what so ever. Its hard to see any black dots on him anyway as he is white with black spots! Anyway, it has moved from where she saw it orignally and where it was has like a little red mozzie bite area. I removed the tick with a pair of tweezers and OH was saying it was a bit of dirt but once I put it on my hand it wriggled! So its obvouisly some sort of creature. I am assuming that we don't have paralysis ticks here in SA? Do I need to be concerned about this "tick". Is it a tick? should I be doing anything else? Thanks
  18. My OH has just changed over the shower head in our two bathrooms......just so its easier to shower the dog!
  19. Not the best quality as its a bit blurry but I love this recent pic of Hugo.....its so typical of him...my daughter is always saying how "human" he is!
  20. Do dogs get reflux? My dog often seems to do a little hiccuy type thing and then licks lips and swallows....we call it a "sicky burp" because its like he's regurgitating a little and then swallowing Doesn't seem to bother him at all, just wondered if it could indicate a problem?
  21. I don't think she will. They don't want a dog until next year and sound like they are really thinking things through, especially since our talk yesterday.
  22. thanks PF, I've emailed her your post and pic Anyway, never mind my friend......I think I want a poodle now!!! (hmmm, how do you think a minii poodle would go with a GSP??)
