  1. the only thing I ever asked online was why the water bowls were green and why were corrugated iron edges protruding in dog enclosures that were used for the long time stays (when they would be a danger to the dogs) and for that outrage was blocked by MA. Are you saying though that evidence put online by Moorook and its supporters, showing the state of the place, is wrong and in fact it looks nothing like the pictures they have been posting online to show how wonderful it is. Very puzzled why you would make comments like that. In any case, one does not need to see conditions to know how things should be in a place that is being boasted as the best run in the state, and state of the art - and if this place is state of the art to you, then you have very low expectations.
  2. No I have not been there and will be the first to admit it. I do however have a great deal of experience, both rescue and breeding, with multi cat husbandry and keeping cats in group situations though, as well as knowledge of basic requirements for socialising both kittens and adult cats, together with disease control and quarantine, and appropriate cat dietary requirements, particularly given the length of time some of these cats may be there. What they are doing with the cats, based on their own admissions, photographic and film evidence provided by their own supporters, presumably to trumpet just how great the animals there have it, is enough to make me cry for those poor cats, and to want something better to be done for them. The lack of appropriate containment is a glaring issue, not to mention the diet, prevention of disease spread, adequacy of socilaising cats and kittens etc - even the fact that a lot can be told about the health of a cat from stool examination, or the sign of blood in the urine - eg whether the stools are firm, mushy, the colour etc Since cats do not generally toilet on demand, the way to pick this up is noticing what they are like when changing the litter trays. If the cats are in a group, then you can isolate the cats to work out which one has issues. When they are all running loose, and doing their business whereever they feel like it, you are not going to pick up easy and early indicators like this of issues going on, until they are a much more visible problem, and by then, given how well cats can hide issues, it may be too late. But of course, if cats are running loose, then there are no pesky litter trays to change, or enclosures to clean and that makes life easier for someone who is time poor - never mind it is far and away NOT in the cats best interests at all under these conditions. And I do not need to physically see the cats to know this.
  3. ssdly it only encompasses pets travelling with owners on the same flight - unaccompanied pets will not attract any points, and also does not cover international flights
  4. clearly Skelp, you haven't really read this thread properly at all, or bothered to look at the photos posted by the supporters, or even looked closely at the vision captured on the TT shows, and really had a good look at the conditions that the animals are being warehoused under. And as for helping, if you also bothered reading this thread, you would have seen that help, until recently, was the last thing accepted by the owner. You may also think that 1 person can adequately look after 120 dogs and umpteen cats (at figures quoted variously between 40-80), I don't, no matter how fabulous the conditions are, let alone in the substandard ones here that need an army to come and help clean up before an inspection can occur - in that case, just what are the conditions that the animals are left in the rest of the time? And if you also do not get that the person who took over as the spokesman made everything a million times more difficult with such a belligerent attitude, which he is now planning on unleashing (no pun intended), on the BSL and other rescue groups foolish enough to take him on board (and whether they want him to or not), as well as intending to stand as an independent and also letting loose there with his brand of logic, then I am guessing you might just be one of his friends, and nothing we have said here will make the slightest bit of difference.
  5. be very scared Again with this expose - it must be going to be a corker the way he keeps trotting it out, not to mention his knowledge of all these other cases. And actually, the way he has been going on about Lola, I would say he has been all about protecting her personal position - funnily enough I thought that animal welfare was more to do with the animals receiving appropriate care, being kept in appropriate conditions, and their health and well being attended to - guess I am glad we have him to tell us what it is really all about. And as for this comment Oh yes, coz all of what he did at Moorook was all about that
  6. Love it. Thanks for the link!!!
  7. I think it was because, as I think Jo said many pages earlier, that he would look for a way to step away from all of this, so he can get onto his campaigning, and leaving them in the lurch to face the music on their own. It has gotten too tough, in site of his bravado, so on his bike he goes, no doubt off to now save upteen cows from SAPol, and add his charm to the BSL campaign - his work here is now done. Don;t let the door hit you on the way out.
  8. Oh I can see the halo from here and his replies to the chorus of "good on you Mark" replies Why does it need to change -
  9. also noticed he calls himself this - clearly he keeps forgetting he said that he was no longer an owner of the sanctuary and it was his wifes only
  10. love this little gem, from the newspaper article, which I think goes a long way to explaining his actions - wonder if all those "helpers" he recruited for Moorook knew this is really what he wants 'em for.
  11. those poor cats, that is just so wrong to let a kid be grabbing them and holding them in that way. Dog help all those poor animals
  12. either Mark was doing one of his usual "the sky is falling routines" to stir up the masses, and what he was saying was never the case, or that person on the council has done a backflip worthy of being in Canberra
  13. my camera bag is a back pack type, so never had any issues with that, but think you may be a bit stuck with the tripod
  14. would also add t that what about the actually checking the dog over, esp in those runs, to ensure there are no cuts, scratchs, and treat those that were having the claimed "ongoing medical treatment". Not to mention then doing the same with whatever number of cats are there as well. And those time limits are a bare minimum, not to mention actually completing paperwork and records etc for each animal, so people know who has had what and what is being done for them, let alone then assessing the newcomers and taking them to the vets for examination and treatment, and looking after actual sales, getting food, disposing of waste etc. The workload there is a staggering amount just for a small number of dogs, let alone 120. Having worked in a kennels before, I also know just how long it takes to do things, and 5 minutes is decidedly generous, even aloowing for the obvious multiple housings they have in the kennels. Have watched the thing online, and saw it as typical TT hyperbole - the food for instance, no mention was made of exactly why a permit was now being sought so donations could be made (ie that she had up till now illegally being taking them without one, and had been caught out with it), nor showing the pens or mentioning the pens, and noted that they actually showed very few of the pens that we have seen in the photos that had been deemed unacceptable, giving the impression of what it looked like was in fact all big spacious dirt pens like the ones we saw. Also noticed with a shudder the way Lola was shown feeding the dogs that she did feed, and just how messy it looked behind and around her (and remember this is after it was "cleaned up", and how they gave the impression that she runs it with all those volunteers. They also described Mark as running his own no kill shelter - funny, never thought a wildlife sanctuary was the same thing as a no kill dog shelter, but there you go. and apart from dragging up 2 cases of dogs that had no bearing on Moorook, saw none of the "expose" we were promised. I did like Lolas comments though that she would not have minded if she had been charged with either dirty pens or being untidy (so clearly she admits those are problems, even though Mark does not think so), but says she objected to the cruelty charges as she has never hurt an animal. Seems to me she does not get that cruelty to animals is more than just hurting them - keeping them in conditions that are just wrong for their conditions year after year like some of them have been described in is also cruel, as is not properly treating conditions being suffered by them. Can see a bit why the Moorook adorers liked it, as they would have thought it was so wonderful that Mark and Lola got to say their bit about how she is just a little old lady being picked on by bureaucracy, and it is her against the RSPCA, but I certainly think to anyone looking at that shelter and seeing the conditions that the animals were being kept in, agree that if it was a puppy farmer, the outcry for them to be hanged and get death threats would be all over the internet (in fact it was when the job was done on the breeder earlier this year, when the activists moved dogs and then filmed them in dirty conditions much like these) Amazing double standards being applied that say, as has been said before, that it is OK for a rescuer to have appalling conditions, as she is saving them all and finding them homes, but not OK for a breeder to have even 1 dog in a condition like this
  15. $4000 a month on 120 dogs is only $33 each, which doesn't really give much of any of them have chronic condition they need medication for, plus don;t forget there are an unknown no of cats who they also claim get desexed, vaccinated, wormed etc. I would actually say that if the vet bill is only that much she is doing pretty well then with that many animals, but think that in actuality, it is actually too small, suggesting that perhaps things aren't all getting perhaps the treatment needed. Re the cats, you only need to look at the videos posted by Mark Aldridge on Youtube, which clearly show that cats just wandering around while the inspectors were there. And I would also certainly compare this to a puppy farm / hoarder - same kind of appalling conditions that the animals are being kept in, and same lack of time being devoted to the care and socialisation. They may be similar to what some animals are kept in within peoples own homes - that does not make it OK, and certainly Mark himself made the claim that what was being done would make them state of the art, though note he is now backing down on that again - he keeps forgetting once it has been written by him online, it is there permanently
  16. there is more OTT stuff like that, but makes me ill to read it. Waiting to see the story online so can see the slant they took on it, although being TT and knowing what they did on the Calstead job, not expecting a lot
  17. can't wait till it is uploaded to watch it, as according to the minions, they saw a different story - this from Marks page and this and this - which shows Mark still does not get it about the donations
  18. grass roots shelter or otherwise, it does not excuse animals being kept in conditions that preclude them having access to kennels to shelter from heat and cold, clean water, nor does the video footage you have uploaded to youtube of cats just wandering around freely provide an environment for them that is safe nor allow for them to be able to be easily treated and examined. Nor does it protect them from stray cats and the disease they may transmits, nor dogs that also just wander round (as noted that several dogs are described as also having access to the whole property and not just confined to pens. Seems to me that it is interesting how much the above post too is all about "me", and not one bit mentioning all the screaming and abusing you have done to people who dared to differ with you - when you post pictures on your page showing what things are like and how wonderful they are, when they do in fact look little different to some puppy mill operations, expect to be challenged when you then try to claim those as best practice. And the idea that one person can look after 120 dogs, even with 1-2 person volunteer help - given that the recent Vic DPI figures suggesting 1 person per 25 animals, think you will find not a lot pf people think such staffing would be best practice either. No problem with taking in animals if you can cope with them, and would seem the simplest method would being to add in fostering, esp if there are animals that need special treatment,/ rehabilitation etc that means they are taking up more than the normal amount of time a healthier animal would take.
  19. looks like from Marks page that the infamous TT story is running tonight
  20. and back to his reality Oh I think everyone knows who you are by now - as to whether anyone is pyscho enough to vote for him, dog I hope not if this is an example of how he works As to how much the beautification of painting the fence has made conditions better in the enclosures for the dogs, goodness only knows. And the thought above that as the pens all now look so wonderful, that Lola could now easily take on 3 times the animals she has now, dog forbid!!!
  21. I'm sure the story needs lots of reworking - guess it just depends if they do that as the typical TT hatchet job, with no regard for the facts, or actually show things as they really are
  22. Poor Mark, being kept out of the loop is clearly not making him a happy chappy!!!!!!
  23. just WOW is all I can say after reading that, he is really coming unhinged. And love how Cinch says he is owner of the sanctuary - didn't he try to distance himself from that saying he was former owner, so the licence problems weren't anything to do with him. He really should keep better track of his lies
  24. such a shame, I have been blocked from Marks page, after making a comment on one of the Moorook pages about the cats. Now I can't see his rantings, except for the ones shared here = pity as I enjoyed reading the delusional rantings of a madman, and marvelling at the fact he can still attract support.
