Congratualtions! So proud of you both! I have now completly stopped walking the dogs together as Bonnie is a bad influence on Indie, Indie is great, Bonnie...umm old Tana in disguise lol. Good with adults but goes cazy seeing kids and other dogs, getting better but a long way to go with her yet.Lifts my spirits so much reading you and Tana have cracked it(doing exact same training/walking plan as you). Well done guys!

Its west-ish. Bass Hill vet clinic(hume highway, bass hill) near bankstown. Has ramp, large open reception and easily get a wheelchair etc in clinic rooms. You can make appointments if you really want but generally you just walk in. You are never rushed and can talk to the vet for a very long time about any concerns etc. Staff are very friendly and helpfull, excellent services.Even my dogs love going there, its asif they are greeting family when they arrive, get so excited to see the staff.Highly recommend them.

Beautiful! Thanks so much guys. Once i get over this mob of sick kids, ill try getting in contact with Steve from k9 pro, sounds like exactly the type of trainer I am looking for. Would hate for anyone to try and "squash" her drive as, apart from these couple of issues, her drive is amazing in training! Unlike Indie whom has absolutly zero drive except the drive of my cuddles and being stuck like velcro to my leg(nicknamed 'velcro dog'). Think Indie would be more suited to becoming a therapy dog than any sports. Sniff sniff....ok ok,Ill come(after k9pro) to castle hill, dont mind driving but hate driving near the city lol, big scaredy cat but ill come. Woofenpup- Thankyou for letting me know more about bankstown, sorry about your experience with them, exactly the kind of thing I was worried about with Bon. Ill get her issues sorted then come join you at castle hill. Huski-Thankyou for the link and pointing me in the right direction.

Hi guys, Does anyone here go to Bankstown school for dogs? Posted in another thread about my Amstaff girl suddenly having a personality change since desexing. Was fantasic on lead, always at lazy heel and never reactive to dogs/social butterfly etc. Now she is becoming reactive to dogs when she is on her lead and dominant over some dogs she meets(at which point she has 'painted on ears').Obviously is a major problem with such a strong dog so its time to go back to basics with her. Will I be able to work on her there? ie have read previously that in other obidiences classes(other states) that barking/hyper dogs have been asked to leave? or should I invest in a one on one trainer? Would like to attend fort-nightly as I would also like to take my husky to obidience/agility and obviously can only take them one at a time untill I sort out Bonnies 'painted on ears'. She has a very high drive so deffinatly want to get her into dog sports(agility, luring, frisbee, flyball etc)but cant untill I fix her distraction with other dogs. Any advice on bankstown school or other places in my area, liverpool? Will easily drive a distance if somewhere else is more suited to Bonnies needs. Thanks for any replies guys.

Indie and I had a great day yesterday. Was fantastic getting to met the beautiful boys Riddick and Tana and their mums. Riddick almost managed to get Indie boy to play with a strange dog, well done Riddick! Thankyou to all the wonderful people there for introducing your dogs to my girls. I had one very tired husky and 2very tired girls when I got home. Was beautiful! All 4kids and the dogs fell into comas for the rest of the evening /night, sweet peace and quiet lol. -
Quick update...Suddenly has a large lump in her side (about size of a lime) taken her to vet. Has no idea what it is, says there is a small chance that she may be having a reaction to internal stiches but he doubts that as its been 3wks and no where near her operation site. Giving anti-inflamatry drugs for 3days but wants her back on Tuesday. If its not gone then they will be operating. Doesnt seem to bother her until he really pushed hard. Will keep everyone updated.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Thought I was going to get told I was being crazy thinking that desexing had changed her. It has just been so out of the blue. Was going to take her and Indie with me to erskine park tomorrow but after this sudden change I dont really trust her with unknown dogs rightnow(its simply not fair on other dog owners having to worry about her near their dogs). Just going to take Indie now. Atleast untill I figure out this new personality and try to get her to ignore strange dogs instead of react to them. She has been ok once she meets them(little dominant or ignores them but behaved) but untill she greets them the barking/growling/pulling must be scary for other dog owners. Got the feeling Ill never get her back to being a social butterfly as she has even suddenly lost her puppyness/playfullness. Just a different dog since her desexing. Sorry to hear that some of you have had similar experiences but glad I am not alone. For those whos bitches have suddenly changed, have they ever gone back to being social or do you always have to keep an eye on them/keep them away from other dogs? Has their behaviour improved atall? If they have improved, how did you manage to help them? Love taking the dogs with us when we go out for coffee, watch footy etc but worry I wont be able to do this anymore. Dont want her reacting badly when she sees other dogs and her giving her breed a bad name/ justifing somes peoples fear of her breed. She really is a beautiful natured girl and was bad enough everyone being scared of her/saying she was "one of those dogs" even when she was the most submissive, placid dog around. Poor Bonnie. Megan-No molly coddling when she had her op, just kept her quiet/kids away from her untill she was feeling better but she didnt get any special treatment except a few extra blankets in her bed. Our dogs arent allowed up on sofas/bedrooms etc (only because they are large dogs and we have small children so the kids can have space when they want away from the dogs and vis versa). So she just had her normal bed/ laid at our feet, tried to keep everything normal for her. Still cant belive that this seems to be a side effect of desexing and not un-common either.Never heard of this before.

Hey guys, Bonnie (American Staffordshire) had her desexing done 3wks ago when she turned 12months. She had an early heat at 5 1/2mths and ended up with a terrible phantom pregnancy. Although she was extremly sooky, she was still fantasic playing with other dogs at the park and extremly submissive even to tiny dogs. Had her out a few times this week and she turned into a monster regarding other dogs. She went crazy in the car as soon as she saw the dogs in the park. Had no idea why she was acting up so decided against going into the park but walk around outside the fence. She greeted dogs friendly enough through the fence but as soon as they turned away from her she lunged and was snarling/barking at the fence. Ran her around oval few times/swim at beach etc to tire her and waited for park to empty before taking her in on her long line. Another stafford came in and slowly let them meet whilst keeping her on her long leash..ended up playing well together(let her off) but Bonnie was so dominant other the other dog, occasional growl, playing then standing other her with her tail up. Other dogs came and she was good with them but still dominant, and never really playing like she did before her operation. Asif all the puppyness and social butterfly/submissiveness has vanished since her op. She was just walking with myself and the other owners than occaisonally checking on her playmates and giving a growl. Anyone else expericened this after desexing their bitch? Note : I also have a 9mth old desexed husky boy. They love each other to death but since op she has stopped playing with him that much or will play for a while with him then suddenly have enough and snap at him. Apart from not wanting to play they are always cuddled up with each other, investigating together etc etc. Any ideas please? Just a age thing or after op thing? either way will be nipping it in the bud. Aggression in not accecptable.Seeking trainers advise if she doesnt snap out of it. Thanks guys.

Bva Vicotry For 'deed Not Breed' In Scotland
julzjc replied to bulldogz4eva's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hmmmm, sounds good but still not sure how safe I would feel about taking my American staffordshire Bonnie back to Scotland seeing we would have to fly in via London. Hubby would love to move back there for a while but Ive said no chance as Im not leaving the dogs here and Im not willing to risk Bonnie being PTS when she enters Britain. She is a papered American Staffordshire but considering Britain has conviscated/PTS tiny staffordshire bull terriers, bull terriers etc assuming they are pitbulls (how the heck you can confuse a bull terrier with a pitt bull is beyond me) I have not been willing to take the chance of taking her into the country. Heard too many stories of papered dogs being taken away and PTS before the owners have had a chance to find their papers. Would she manage to pass through London without issues I wonder? Im still not game to take that chance though atleast untill this change to the Scottish law has been in effect for a much longer time. -

LOL, I'd get done for trying to smuggle dangerous good in I think, especially with Butteries lol mmmmmmmmmm just dreaming of a butterie with mashed banana, topped with a teaspoon of sugar! or a butterie toasted then covered in melting butter and golden syrup...mmmmmm haha I did say pretty please. Believe it or not they actually let my mum bring in a dozen Butteries last time she visited us lol.She did declare it though, pretty sure they laughed and were disgusted at the same time when told the ingrediants lol, deffinatly dangerous goods . I know stuartfield, brothers friends live there. Beautiful beach, never been to that one though, driven past but think the weather put me off getting out of the car. Sorry for going so off topic guys, just reminiscing. I Had to leave my beautiful boy with my family, was too old to make the move and Tyke (papillon) had grown into my dads constent companion, couldnt seperate them. Hope your two go well with the flight and change in climate, hope your crestie has lots of snuggly jumpers waiting for him when he arrives, so cold right now. You'll need to post more piccys I think lol. Golden Rules- how are you aquainted with the magical Butterie? mmmm love the link, think I'll have to go TRY and make some. Thanks GR -

Hey Tanya, Welcome! Not doggy related but where in the North East are you from? Im from Aberdeenshire, moved over to Sydney in 2005, deffinatly a very different doggy lifestyle here. Miss having 7miles of beach all to myself and my dogs anytime of day, getting used to it but feel sorry for my dogs not being able to have much offlead runs. Like previous posers, dog parks are so so, great if you can find a quiet time to go but there are quite a few idiots that go there and spoil the place. I only take my dogs at 5am or on rainy days so hopefully no one else is there,had/seen to many incidents with DA(dog aggressive) dogs that supposedly"love other dogs and have never done this before" pfffft whatever. J -
Both Bonnie and Indie are almost 12months old now and no matter how long they are out on walks for there is no way either of them will go to the toilet until they are back home or visiting my inlaws(even then they will wait hrs after arriving until they just cant hold it anymore).

Done and done, thanks chewbacca, had plenty of paw paw ointment and sterile pads in cupboard...not exactly sure how long she will leave the pads on though(lol put socks on top of them and taped them on ) guessing she will have them off as soon as I go to bed. Glue gun was "ment to be" out of reach, Indie the husky has recently(yesterday) learned how to open the door handle to the garage and the glue gun was up on the bench(1.5m high and pushed to the back wall), hes too smart for his own good sometimes.Past 3days hes also decided that when they are outside and told to "go to bed" that it is alot better idea to wait until I go back inside and then pull his bed from the laundry right up to the house door so he doesnt have to sit on the tiles and technically hes still in his bed as he was told grrrr.(unfortunatly for him Bonnie takes advantage and claims the bed as her own).So as of today he gets one bed out for Bonnie then goes back and gets the other bed and places next to hers at the back door for himself. Oh and he keeps checking the window to see if Im watching, as soon as he sees me he drops the bed and lays down on the grass oh so innocently asif hes been lying there the whole time.

Thankyou so much for all the updates on Jed and the lovely photos of her fur babies. Been thinking about her all day. Devasted to hear about poor Magnus and Meg, RIP sweet souls. Had to stop reading until my kids went to bed, they were getting upset that mummy was crying, now the tears are flowing and lost for words. Heart is absoulutly breaking for Jed and her family. Glad to hear the operation went well, hold in there jed and stay strong, we are all here praying for you. Thankyou all again for keeping us all updated, you guys are amazing in everything you do. -
Thanks guys. Will take her to the vet tomorrow morning, she has managed to get her pads all seperated but there is still glue there.Has obviously pulled a couple bits out from between her pads and the skin is quite raw and moist, now deffinatly dont want to try do anything to them, so deffinatly taking her first thing in the morning. Lucky she is the biggest laid back sooky girl and doesnt mind her feet being handled, shes ticklish if anything. Pads look so tender, I feel so bad I havent been able to check on her/take her to vet today, had my hands full with our 3very sick kids(rush to hosp last night but better-ish now) and managing our 6wk old(thankfully not sick, yet). Cuddled up with my poor fur baby now, so glad she loves our vet, fingers crossed he gets the stuff off her feet. ps not entirly sure but think its the pvc glue for timber, quite rubbery(atleast the big gloopy mess on the grass was, not so for Bonnies pads). Unfortunatly I cant get the contact details, Indie didnt leave much of the tube intact, deffinatly trip to our vet in the morning, hes really good so hopefully have some idea on how to take if off and give me something to sooth her feet. Thanks again guys

Hey guys, need a bit of help. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get very strong timber glue off/out from between pads on my American staffords paws? My two monsters got into the garage, got hold of the timber glue gun and tore it up. Thank goodness they didnt like the taste! Managed to trim a few small drops of harded glue off Indie (Husky) and thought Bonnie was fine untill I saw her licking her front paws tonight, both front paws have huge lumps of glue completly filling the space inbetween her pads and absoulutly rock solid. Any suggestions atall? She will easily let me soak her feet but no idea what would be safe to use without stinging her skin. Thanks in advance guys.
