  1. i completely agree. these stupid rules r in place for dogs, why not people too? the ones that do the wrong thing anyway?
  2. This is just disgusting, how could anyone do that to those beautiful dogs. Poor Jack and his slit throat then rubber band and the poor staffy who dangled by its leg from a fence. wat is wrong with people in the world? This makes me so angry, i hope they catch the a**h**** who did this and lock them up. if they only get a fine that's not enough, and wont stop them from doing this again. if a human did that to another human they wuld go to jail, i dnt see why it cant be that way for animals. Animals dnt get enough justice wen it comes to abuse and murder.
  3. Thanks for the guesses lol BTW how do i delete one of my own topics?
  4. Wat is my dog?!!! i got him from the local pound, as a puppy he was said to be a JRTx, but obviously not lol he's got a bit of Kelpie in him, i think and maybe a bit of border collie. A friend of mine who works with dogs said that she think's he's got a bit of Smooth Coat Collie in him too. i looked up Smooth Coat Collie and him temperament, markings and features seem to match and he's a bit taller than yout average Kelpie and Border Collie too, so he's obviously not a pure bred! Can i get the professionals (you dog owners/lovers) help! i've attached a few pics to help out! And i apologise in advance if i posted this in the wrond discussion forum, just let me know and i'll change it! 6. Oh yeah, i'm sure the dogs really care that they are giving birth to 'cross-breds' i feel so sorry for the poor girls! People like the breed, so what! And not just because they are cute but are great family pets. Tho any dog can become a good family pet if it is raised right and has responsible owners...
  7. u can find better videos of it on youtube, just type in worlds smallest horse. Aww, so cute hehe
  8. Disgusting, just disgusting. There are no words for that. My deepest sympathies go out to the family who looked after her and were so casually dismissed and led-on, to the point of believing the horse was doing fine. I cant believe they weren't informed that Brandy was going to be put down, and that they didnt let them take her back, even after they had the money. The RSPCA in Townsville are **sholes, and obviously care more about themselves than the animals, which is not how a place like the RSPCA should be ran. It makes me so angry, just disgusting. RIP Beautiful Brandy, now ur running free and happy with no more colic and stress. RIP pretty girl
  9. A friend of mine suggested i use Bitter Ex, i think its called. its the stuff people put on their fingernails to stop chewing them.. Will that work? it wont harm him and it doesnt smell bad apparently, just tastes bad!!!
  10. She was just trying to help that dog and they both died RIP animal loving lady and dog ;)
  11. if u want to provoke a dog attack, u do wat they say in the second article. that's just wrong, in my opinion. if u want to see how a dog is around children, u rough it up a tiny bit and slightly pull its ears, if u get no reaction from that, then all should be fine. The poor dog got put down because of their stupidness. They are just trying to get sympathy and money, which is why at the end the woman says she 'doesn't know where her family is going to get the money.' The poor helpless child and dog died because of irresponsible people... Disgusting really
  12. Since my boy lives outside i had to get him a coat and he even chews it, so for the moment at night he is coatless, at least it hasnt been too cold during the nights, yet. is there anything i culd spray or put on his coat that tastes/smells bad so he wont chew it. tho i dnt want something too stinky because he will be sleeping in the coat and i dnt want him to be uncomfartable. Anyone got anything for me?
  13. Poor baby. RIP Little Thomas Wat i don't understand is how the dog was in the place. It wasnt her dog, did she have every door in her house open? including the front door, which would be very irresponsible. Poor little baby, such a young life cut short :D Little bub is in heaven now
  14. Just tried out my boy with one of the men here. Had the man hold out some traets at waited for my boy to come and eat them, he gradually did but was still quite guarded and scared. Will have to keep doing this for how ever long it takes! At least it worked, for a little while anyway lol Thaks for all the tips, will keep u all updated!
  15. My experience is that vets have experience with medicine, not behaviour. I suggest getting a qualified behaviourist in who can spend some time with you and the dog and see his reactions. If you let us knwo the area you live in I'm sure someone can suggest a behaviourist who is great. I'm in bendigo victoria, i don't think i'd be able to afford a behaviourist though, thats why i thought of a vet because i'm close friends with one and culd probably get 1 consultation for free!!! lol Had you got your dog from a rescue, I'd be suggesting that's who you talk to. Did you? I got him from the pound here so i cant really find out anything about his background.

  17. I actually just read about that; getting men to come over and present my boy with treats, i'll give that a try. Good thing that trainer got the sack, that's just not the right thing for a trainer to do, to someone elses dog, or his own. I've only just gotten my dog so i am not sure what may have triggered this fear of men, wish i knew tho, might have helped me help him better, but all i can do is show him that men arent bad and can be trusted. Thanks for the tip, and for your fear story, really helps to read about someone elses troubles and how they fixed them, that way i know they know what they are talking about lol
  18. Thank you for all these website, they are very helpful. Will try some of these techniques tomorrow. Thanks again, so much for your help!
  19. Sorry, i shouldnt just assume that, please dont feel offended, that was just the first thing i thought of, should have been more broad in my thoughts. Yes, not enough exposure could also be reason for his fear. Sorry again if i've offended. BTW, thanks for the tips, i'll talk to my local vet about what she suggests i do with his fear. She knows more than i do, right!
  20. My 1 year old male Medium x Breed has a fear of men, he's fine with women, other dogs and cats. I'm not sure about children because i've only had him for a few weeks, not sure what he'd be like around boys and male toddlers or children, he wont be around many anyway. I recently posted a topic called 'My 1 year chews everything he can,' and got some helpful tips so here i am posting again lol pathetic huh? but since he's my first dog, i don't want to do anything wrong and want to get as much helpful tips and suggetsions as i can. Since he chews and doesn't like men, he's pretty good with everything else so hopefully this will be the last topic i have to write up!!! Anyways, I'm renting this place i'm at now, and the woman who owns the place has her dogs here too and mine and hers get along really well so there's no dramas there! This property, i guess you'd call it, has a main house, which i'm in and a little flat out the back where a man lives, he's a nice guy and he loves the dogs, but mine does not like him. He's not vicious or anything like that, he just barks and does circles around the man and wont go near him. Also, the woman who owns the place has a good male friend who comes over and does handy-work on the house from time to time and my boy does the same thing with him too. Most of the time when there's a man here i'll hold my dog by the collar and let the man go up the him slowly and pat him. He will sit there very nervously and try to pull back, that or completely freeze. I'm guessing that in his previous home he might have been abused or harmed by a man, on a regular basis too maybe. Should i just keep holding him when there are men about and let them pat him so he gradually gets used to them, these are the two man he will be around most so it's important that he gets used to them. Anyone have any other suggestions that may be helpful? Or similar situations their dogs and them may have been in?
  21. Thank you for the tips, they sound pretty good actually. Thanks everyone for your help! Am off to get a bunch of hard to chew toys!!!
  22. I've only had him for a few weeks, so i haven't done much training with him. He has some basic obedience training and i've been training him too because he gets too easily distracted. I'm renting this house i'm at and the woman who owns it has her dogs here too and they all get along really well so whether he's outside or inside, he's never alone. i have been pretty busy lately with work so he hasn't gotten much walking and exercise time plus if i only take him out the other dogs bark and we don't want any noise complaints, but the backyard is fairly big and he's active and plays/chases the other dogs so he gets exercise. On my days off i usually train him a bit but sometimes i'm just too busy. He has a coat so he will be okay outside at night on the verandah with the other dogs and i was thinking of getting him one of those Kong toys that Staffy's always have! And if he comes inside i'll just have to chew proof the house first i guess. Does that sound good? Anyone else got any other suggestions i could use?
  23. RIP Bear now u can chase all the cats u want and run and play and wait patiently for ur loved ones to greet u.
  24. My 1 yr old medium cross breed chews everything he wants, i bring him inside during the night because it's getting cold and i wake up in the morning and he's chewed a slipper or a dish washing cloth or a plastic lid, i try to hide everything i think he will chew but he still finds something. i bought him a toy tennis ball on a rope kind-of-thing and gave it to him when he was outside and left him to play and 5 mins later i looked outside and he had it in pieces. Any suggestions?
  25. Aww, feel so sorry for the poor injured/ dead dogs, but i get that the farmer had every right to do it and that their deaths/ injuries are due, solely, to the dogs owner who didnt keep them contained. Such a shame that two beautiful dogs had to be harmed, if only people could look after they're animals. He wont stand a chance by taking this to the RSPCA, he was in the wrong and he wont get anything, hopefully they will ban his from buying anymore dogs, but that's very unlikely. Poor dogs, poor stock. everyone loses, its unfair.
