I'm hoping to get out today. Been stuck for 8 days. The creek is going down and I have packed a bag. Once on the other side I am not coming home till all the rain is gone. Hopefully, I will get to town. If our creek has gone down, then the next one should have as well. Otherwise, I sleep in the car tonoght.

I had a Border Collie who just wasn't the right dog for me. He was a beautiful dog, we just didn't click. I rehomed him to a family with a teenage boy and it was a match made in heaven.

Outside with lots of shady trees, a big tiled area that stays cool, umpteen clamshells and plenty of drinking water.

I have Terriers and cats and have never had a drama with them. The JRT and the two Mini Foxies came here as adult dogs. They happily co-exist with our cats (and our chooks who wander the yard in daylight). Snakes are a huge problem here. We had one curled around our hot water heater on our semi enclosed back verandah. It covered a fair bit of open ground to get there. I rehomed a Border Collie whom I'd had since a pup. He was 2 years old and killed my 18 year old cat. They had previously lived together no dramas (with 2 other cats). I understand how you feel.

There are a couple of registered breeders whose properties I drive past on my way to the big smoke. They have signs out the front advertising pups. What's wrong with that?

Well, short of cutting my dog's legs off or nailing him to the lounge, I am not going to insist he enter a situation that he finds extremely stressful. If you have some whizbang, surefire way of getting him to relax and be inside, I'd sure love to hear it. And shock, horror, sometimes the Shihtzu sleeps outside too, especially when it is hot. The verandah is cool and tiled.

My dog is outside all the time. He is not a working dog. I don't walk my dogs. They get plenty of exercise running around the farm.

I have a dog who will not come inside. He stresses if he gets through the door. He can not settle and is a right royal PITA. He is still a very much loved pet. We spend a lot of time out side with him and the others. He is quite happy to curl up on the back verandah, which is closed on three sides.
