  1. Me and OH were taking Bella (our Boxer) to the off lead beach for a run and swim - she loves it and goes a few times a week. Anyway, she was really excited, but we decided to drop by the beach cafe on the way and grab a coffee each. Bella wasn't to happy having to wait but she put up with it. Anyway, we make it to the beach and it was a hot day, quite a few people about swimming etc... I let her off the lead and she immediately ran up to someones stuff (they must have been swimming) and grabbed their towel, water bottle and undies in her mouth and proceeded to run down the beach, dropping items along the way. Here I am chasing her, coffee in hand spilling everywhere, everyone is looking and laughing as I pick up items along the way! I finally got her and all of the stuff, brushed the sand and slobber off, about faced and put them back in roughly the same spot as I think they were. Everyone in close proximity saw what happened and thought it was hilarious. I was so embarrassed - payback for us getting coffee Needless to say, I still don't know who the stuff belonged to... ;)
  2. At least twice a day. Two Great Danes and a Boxer worth of poo makes for ALOT of poo!
  3. Awesome - emailed to say my order has been posted and I ordered only a couple of days ago. Pretty good turnaround considering the orders they must be processing! I reckon most are from DOLer's, from reading this thread!!
  4. Mine LOVE the tinned mackeral in tomato sauce - have never had a problem with supply. They also love the sardines in tomato sauce too, but the mackeral works out cheaper
  5. So Sad - thanks to you Dogmad and to K9Angel for trying to help this girl - no dog deserves this, I pray that she finds a lovely home soon.
  6. I get my turkey necks and wings from Woolworths here in NSW - doesn't help you much in SA though, sorry. My dogs LOVE them - the wings are way bigger then chicken and takes the danes a couple of minutes to devour compared to seconds with the chicken LOL
  7. Check out Prosure - they have no excess and pay 80% of the bill. I have top cover (accident, illness and wellness) and it costs me around $40 per month per dog. I have all of mine insured (a boxer and two great danes). They have been awesome as my boxer had a lot of health issues in her first 18 months. I claimed so much through them and when it came to renewal time for my boxer, the premium was the same.
  8. Ticks are rampant on the East Coast of Oz - we are in for a terrible season I feel. Already, I have pulled 5 paralysis ticks off my Great Dane pup in less then two weeks! Quite frightening as you don't know how they may be affected. My boy was fine in each case - I monitored him closely in case there was a change in his behaviour or he went off his food (he LOVES food so this would have been a major sign that something was wrong). I would keep an eye on him for a couple of days and get to the vets if he seems weak in the back legs or starts vomiting.
  9. So he has basically plagiarized a whole heap of the content, failing to attribute the original author/s. In the academic world such a thing would result in a big FF and disciplinary action! It just keeps getting better, doesn't it?
  10. I've been following this thread and agree with everything that has been said against FD's article. It seems a little ironic that on FD's webpage - http://www.farmerdave.com.au/dog-training/dog-information/training-tips/574-hey-jeff-where-are-your-facts-whats-that-there-are-none.html, he clearly says: "Sure, say what you will about same sex parents, but when you have a position like yours, make sure you have the facts to back it up.... after all not quoting any scientific research may just mean that you are speaking shit and have no basis for such prejudice". Practice what you preach FD!
  11. I am with Prosure and pay $40 a month for their absolute top cover! A budget plan should be well under this, otherwise you can do better.
  12. My little great dane pup had the same thing from trauma to the head - we assume as he grew he bumped his head under tables he could no longer comfortably fit under! Vet said that it did no damage to him and to wait and see if it goes down on its own before we decide if any treatment was necessary. There was a lot of fluid in the area. It did go down, but it was a slow process over a couple of months. All is now back to normal.
  13. I have two great danes and a boxer - one has an anal gland issue. trust me, you know!! The other farts like there is no tomorrow, that stinks, but nothing like anal gland fluid. I suspect what you describe would not be anal glands, probably normal puppy smells.
  14. Bunnings all the way here! They have everything, hey?
  15. My boxer and two great danes use HS Duck and sometimes the anchovy one too, depending on supply. This is the only kibble they eat all up, no complaints, no leftovers, they love it!!! They are healthy, shiny coats and don;t need to be fed as much. Highly recommend it - just think ahead when you need more in case supply runs low locally, but I have always managed to source supplies online.
  16. Can totally vouch for Meg - she is awesome, very talented and can make pretty much anything in almost any fabric, just ask her! she has made pj's for my boxer and two danes and they love them!!
  17. When I saw the post heading I thought you meant to literally sell you dog toys, and I was going to say that most of ours are chewed and in pieces. But I do have a couple that have outlasted two great danes and a feisty boxer. They are Invincibles (snake with separate sections that squeak, if your dog punctures them they re inflate and never lose their squeak - available from K9Pro and the best $30 I have ever spent), and tugs from Dman tugs. I can also vouch for plastic bottles, treat balls, talking balls (from the US), kongs and kong wobbles for feeding and anything else that makes your pup use their brain and think. This will tire them out more so then physical play. EDIT: Also, have enough toys so that you can rotate them daily so that your pup does not become bored, as they easily do!
  18. Wow, that is lovely. Some people don't realise what a strong bond people form with their dogs, and vice a versa. She obviously felt that she needed to be with him.
  19. I love Pet Deli too - but have also been able to get it from PetBarn the last two times, so use them when they have it in stock. I have always been able to source it from somewhere on the internet with a bit of searching - pity supply can't keep up with demand though, my dogs LOVE the Duck and Oatmeal!!
  20. This is absolute abuse, no excuses! Another reason why animal owners should be licensed IMO.
  21. What a gorgeous man - I think he looks like a Judus! It is so funny cause I only said to my husband today what a gorgeous looking dog Juno was - how funny I now happened to read this!!!
  22. I am with Prosure for all of my dogs. Two are great danes and one a boxer. ONe great dane and the boxer I have had insurance with them since they were puppies, the other great dane was a rescue so we got her at about 18 months and had insurance on her since we got her. Prosure have been fantastic, and god knows I have made claims, particularly with my boxer!!! We pay about $120 per month for all three (this includes accident, injury ,illness and welness) and I wouldn't be without it. They have paid 80% of all bills I have submitted so far and have always paid within about 5 days of them receiving the claim (they text you when they have received it). I could not recommend them more highly and in terms of my Boxer, in 12 months I have easily claimed back more them 3 times the yearly premium!
  23. I have danes so has to be a large
  24. I have never been in this situation so don't know if I can offer you any real good advice. However, he will not know why you are making him sleep outside so it would not really be punishment as such. Even showing him the guinea pigs after the fact is too late - he would have needed to be caught in the act to let him know that what he was doing is wrong.
