  1. I really need to get onto Halo's photos - I have them all, have just been super super lazy! Everyone has taken some amazing photos, absolutely adore that pic of Marlo!
  2. you can veiw SA Yep, SA is one of the easiest to view, MUCH easier than Dogs Vic! http://www.dogssa.com.au/Website/index.php?id=50&level=2
  3. Oh yes I definitely will be! We're off to a show on my birthday, so I'll need to teach OH how to use it in the morning so that he might be able to get some ring shots (not sure how well he'll go with that lens though!) Awww thanks Minxy, I think the Kez is gorgeous too but I'm a little biased! Thanks everyone. :D
  4. Done on purpose for the first and third shots. I was after more of an ECU rather than a normal closeup. Probably not quite an ECU, I was wanting between a choker shot and a closeup I suppose. The middle shot was badly framed, I wanted Halo's eyes on the top third, but they're just above. Plus I focused on her foot rather than her eyes, so it wasn't a great shot anyway. Thanks for the comments guys, yes the wait is going to be horrible now that I've been able to take a few shots!
  5. Officially I'm not allowed to have my new camera until my birthday (just under a month away) however I was able to take it out of the box for a little play this afternoon and here are the first photos. I haven't edited them at all other than resizing them. I think I'm in love! I have a long way to go (there's a fair few blurry photos that I didn't focus properly!) but I'm happy with how these have turned out.
  6. I'm a member of my breed club (even though the breed club is interstate). A friend and I try and organise two picnics per year so that people of our breed can meet up and we can show people interested how wonderful our breed is. We are planning on trying to have a stand for our breed at the Dogs SA Open Day next year - unfortunately very few people were available this year so we weren't able to do it. I'm always happy to talk about my breed and am happy to help new exhibitors out (though I'm a new exhibitor myself!) I'm a member of the Junior Kennel Club of SA and have recently become secretary of it. And I always talk about the benefits of owning purebred dogs and going to a registered breeder - I have helped a cousin and an aunty to find registered breeders of their chosen breeds this year.
  7. 1. Relatively independant 2. Medium sized 3. Drivey 4. Confident and intelligent 5. Good with kids My Husky is fairly close to this, she's maybe a little too independant, and she's not confident with certain things, though that's her upbringing, not her breed. My Lappie is all of this, though drivey depends on the dog.
  8. 1 Siberian Husky female, desexed (almost 2) 1 Finnish Lapphund female, entire (almost 1) They get along really well together, but if my Husky was entire there's no way I'd have another entire female. My lappie, on the other hand, would cope fine with another entire female, she's a lot more submissive than the Husky.
  9. I agree with green, purple would probably look good as well.
  10. My OH hated the thought - he said there was no way we were getting one. Then I got one anyway, and he was amazed at how quickly Akira settled. Now Halo sleeps in a crate every night, she goes straight to it and loves it, and OH brings the soft crate anywhere we go with the dogs. He's sold on how great they are.
  11. Which is why I can't work out why mine was rejected, cos I can't find any dog prefixes similar.
  12. I have never used Lightroom. However, I use Photoshop every single day. What is the difference and is there a reason I'd use Lightroom over Photoshop?
  13. JessyBee, I tried to use the name of my parent's stud for my prefix, and it got rejected even though I couldn't find anything with a similar name. So just don't get your hopes up because I did and I was quite upset when I didn't get it.

  15. It's not a Spitz if it doesn't give you the finger at least once a month - once a day if it's a Husky.
  16. Thanks guys. Have passed on all your thoughts, cousin has decided not to go with this breeder and said she had a bad feeling about it so wanted some opinions. She got a reply from another breeder this morning and all of those health tests check out and will be going with them instead.
  17. Yeah I didn't think they took that long, but I haven't had my girl's done yet so I wasn't sure. And good point about having them done when she was pregnant! There's a few other things that don't add up as well that made me scratch my head, but they're regarding health tests we don't do in my breed so I wasn't sure.
  18. If a bitch has had a litter of puppies, and the breeder is still waiting on hip scores for her and won't get them for six weeks, would you go with the litter or not? I personally feel it should have been done earlier, but I just wanted to get some opinions.
  19. You actually have to be careful doing that, because if you're set up near the ring you're not actually allowed to broadcast who you/your dogs are to the judge.
  20. The Dogs SA one is a good one (I was sad I missed it this year) but once again it's at our grounds and isn't well advertised. I only heard about it in the monthly catalogue.
  21. I really like this idea. Lots of people have no clue about dog sports either - so many people ask us what we do at agility, and why we go to obedience when my dogs know how to sit on command! They don't know enough to get involved so we need to show them. On the weekend at a country show, my OH bought our scooter along because there were some good areas to take our Husky for a run at the back of our campsite. The man camped next to us was really fascinated and when the weather cooled down enough for them to go for a run, he took video of it so that he could show his friends at home. He had a stack of questions that OH answered and he's now got an interest in it. People need to be exposed to pedigree dogs and sports you can do with them and at the moment I don't think that's happening.
  22. You can get "Don't let the dog out" signs? Not sure if that would be more suitable?
  23. Akira thinks water is the best thing ever. Even in winter she loves a dip in her water bowl! Halo's not quite as impressed but will get her feet wet (photo by Evolving) And Akira playing with the hose
