  1. Artificial Grass

Does anyone here have artificial grass? We're considering it because our grass always looks crap thanks to Akira digging. I've read that it's completely dog safe and they can't dig through it. Is that true? I'd love to get some experiences from dog owners rather than just the opinion of the people who want to sell it.
  2. Spitz Breeds

So did I Gretel, I looked like a beached whale. I blame my massive baby for that though! Lovely photos SC, and love the pic of Alera. When I was putting up my Christmas tree I found a halo that went on Halo (how apt) though didn't get a photo of it. Idiot dog wandered around the house with it on for quite a while, it seems desexing her has killed a few of her brain cells.
  3. Spitz Breeds

They said to thank you for the photos. They are great :-) Thanks for the compliments, shes my special girl. No problems, any time. I'm hoping to get more photos next season. :)
  4. Spitz Breeds

Looks fantastic EtH! Glad they're so proud of her!
  5. How Many In Your Bed?

My dogs sleep under the bed at night, every now and again they might join us for a little bit (eg, the lappie slept on our bed for an hour last night because she was desexed yesterday and wouldn't settle unless she was between us). But on weekend mornings there's me, OH, a Husky, a Lappie and a two month old baby in the bed while we're watching TV and procrastinating over getting up.
  6. Neuter Question

Do dogs transferred to neuter register have the same registration number as when they were mains registered or does it change? Also can anyone find the neuter transfer form on the DogsSA website? I must be blind!
  7. Neuter Question

    Thank you!!!
  8. Spitz Breeds

The lightest class is 25kg Stonecutter. I won't put Akira in it because she's only 15-17kg.
  9. Spitz Breeds

My sister got one of these Minxy and it worked really well for her kitten. Apologies, can't remember where she bought it but a Google for a soft cat pen should find it.
  10. Spitz Breeds

It'll get better on its own. Halo was the same when she was in kennels and her voice was back to normal after a couple of days.
  11. Histiocytoma

My Husky has a histiocytoma on her nose that the vet said has become infected - we saw the vet last Thursday. We've been given a cream to apply three times a day. Since Saturday, it has been bleeding a bit. Is it normal for these things to bleed or is it something that we should be heading back to the vet about?
  12. " Are They Good With Children?"

I normally answer that yes, my dogs are great with kids but we've socialised them to be so, and that the breeds can be great family dogs but all dogs should be supervised with children.
  13. Dogs Chasing Their Tails

My lappie did it as a puppy, I'd watch her for a bit and if she didn't stop I'd stop her. I did worry she may have a few screws loose! She very rarely does it nowadays and it's only if she gets super over excited and will do a few spins and then stop.
  14. Greyhound Icecream Fiend

My guys get a Maccas icecream as a special treat too - Hales got one when she got her championship, but she refuses to eat the cone!
  15. Spitz Breeds

I can still lift Halo, and I'm sure she's heavier than Ziva, so you should be fine. :)
  16. Spitz Breeds

Congrats Stonecutter!!! :D Gorgeous pic of your little bubba. And gosh you make me laugh!
  17. Spitz Breeds

This is my world. Akira is in coat, she looks amazing at the moment but still looks good out of coat. Halo is naked and looks terrible!
  18. Spitz Breeds

For those who aren't on my Facebook or the FLCV group, here are our photos from Monday: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.515670043129.2027005.218800254&type=1&l=23d5811715 Gorgeous pics of the puppies, Toujour, and a massive HAPPY BIRTHDAY for yesterday to Jill and Varda, and the rest of the Magic litter.
  19. Earthborn Holistic

As BC Crazy said, it's a little more expensive, but I find the pieces themselves are less dense so there's actually more when you compare weight for weight (on Earthborn Coastal and TOTW Salmon) probably because there's no heavy grains. We're very happy so far, Akira's really doing well on it now and Miss Picky Halo scoffs it down.
  20. Earthborn Holistic

We bought the Coastal Catch on Saturday and have slowly started introducing it. Akira's poo was a little sloppy this morning, so at this stage we're not 100% sure if it's going to be right for her, but we'll give it a week and see how she is at the end of it. It was probably a really dumb idea trying a new food a week before she's meant to go into kennels for the weekend though!
  21. Earthborn Holistic

I have a voucher for Earthborn, that's why I thought I'd try it. I used to pay more for Pro Plan Sensitive anyway.
  22. Earthborn Holistic

Anyone else tried this yet? We're looking at trialling it for our two (the Coastal Catch) as both have high energy requirements and one is allergic to chicken. They're currently on Taste of the Wild, which they're doing great on, but it's much easier being able to buy this straight from PetStock.
  23. Spitz Breeds

A few Spitzers went to a training day at the SA Sled Dog Club today, so here are a couple of photos of them coming in at the finish line. Akira Esky Esky and Akira were both in One Dog and ran 2.25km (I think... EtH will correct me if that is wrong!) Halo Jaana Halo and Jaana were both in Novice and ran 1.4km. As far as we know, Jaana is the first lappie in Australia to run in a sled dog race (she started ahead of Halo) and Halo is the first lappie in Australia to finish a sled dog race (she overtook Jaana on the track). It was a great (but early!) morning and we all had fun.
  24. A 16-year-old boy who is accused of killing four dogs has been remanded in custody amid fears that he would try to kill a person. The ACT Children’s Court was told that police found an entry in the teenager’s “bucket list” on his iPad referring to "killing someone" when they searched his home, the Canberra Times reported. The boy, who cannot be named, is charged with causing the death of two dogs but he is suspected of killing several others. He allegedly showed friends a video taken on a mobile phone of a dog on fire and also showed them a disembowelled dog by a running track in January. It is alleged that he told his friends he had strangled the dog after snatching it from a backyard. On Tuesday police allegedly found dog remains on a vacant grassy area near the boy's home in Northside, Canberra. Police suspect that more dogs will be located in the area. The court also heard that the boy was also seen in the early hours of the morning pulling down fence palings at the home of a Canberra teacher. He allegedly told the teacher he was researching a biology assignment with dogs. An anonymous source told police that the 16-year-old had threatened to burn down the teacher’s home. "I have to say that the [alleged] facts of this matter are some of the most concerning facts that I've seen for a long time," Magistrate Karen Fryar said. She marked the boy as a risk and ordered a forensic mental health assessment report. The teenager, who had no previous convictions, was remanded in custody and is due in court next month. The boy’s mother was at court for proceedings. Source

Whoa, first Friday! That's different. Not sure if we'll enter, but will hopefully be able to come and watch.
