  1. Now firstly I'm no expert so my answers don't count as expert opinions, they're just my own opinions from tinkering with PS When I use it on furred animal photos it definitely sharpens up the image so much you can almost see the individual hairs, so I say it sharpens Can't help you with why its called that? I just use it cause it works If you are happy with the effects you are getting then yes it's the one to use. But I will be interested to see what other suggestions might be given by others as I don't venture out side of a handful of features and I know I'm missing out on a heap of cool tricks and techniques. Your welcome, sorry had to answer that too
  2. I have been a bit busy and promise I am trying to get to everyone here. So Shepmax if you don't mind waiting a bit longer feel free to add your pics here and any details you want included or favorite colours and I will get to it ASAP.
  3. practise, practise, practise and a very steady hand  If you have an object that has very clean lines you could try the magnetic lasso which picks out the edges of an object as you trace around it. But practise is the only way to get better control no matter which way you go
  4. Yeah you probably can puggles. I might have to go and have a look see. I'll let you know in a tick Ok just had a tinker doing it the way you suggested puggles and the only thing I can see that I wouldn't continue using it that way is if you don't have a completly stead hand and miss the lining you get bits that should be blurred that aren't and bits that shouldn't be blurred are. makes it a bit harder to clean up. Doing it in 2 layers gives me a bit more controll to clean up the different layers when I bring them back together, but thats just me
  5. No worries, you definitely need to check out the brushes. If you look at the first one I played with I used a standard brush as I wasn't being particular and just did a rush job to show the effect. So if you look at it closely you can see how a standard brush doesn't cut into the dogs fur properly and you have too sharp an edge that doesn't make the layers fit together nicely. Sometimes you have to work out if its easier erasing the inside of a pic or erase around the out side of the pic for the better effect. (I can explain that to you in more detail via PM if you want, I shouldn't hijack this thread, SORRY Tangwyn).
  6. It's very similar to the other thread you just looked in too. I took the original and cloned out the speaker, then made a copy or the original. The on the copy I used the blur till it was out of focus just enough. Then using the eraser I went over the dogs using a couple of different brushes (I use a frilled eadge brush to go around the rough coats to blend in rather than looking like clean edges) Once I had the dogs cleaned up I merged the 2 layers and hey presto!! what you get is what you see. And even though it's cheating cheating does have it's advantages
  7. Ok black removed and a much cleaner outline of the dogs for you. I hope it's OK for you
  8. sheree, what is it you have in mind or do you want a siigy made with those pics? Sorry a bit slow today so not sure how you want them "photoshopped"?
  9. would you like it just blurred out a little like this or do you want a different back ground all together? If you want something like them sitting in a grassy field that can be done too. Let me know what you want and I can whip it up for you properly (that one above is just a rough go I can clean it up better if it's what you want)
  10. Your welcome cazzaritch. I'm glad you like it cause it was one of the hardest I have EVER done madboutgsd, just put the photos you want used up here and if you have a style or design you want let us know what it is you are wanting and I'm sure 1 0r 2 of us will be along soon to have a go for you. Also, I'm sorry to hear about your girl. It is a great job you have done on the OOB pic with her in it, well done
  11. sorry just couldn't resist writing this
  12. well I didn't have much to go on till you come back so here is a simple one for you to start with dakota's mum. Let me know colours or anything else you like and I can tinker with it a bit more for you. Oh and welcome to DOL
  13. Psychos hey, Pix would you be the head of this club by any chance Sorry mate I just couldn't let that one pass
  14. yes I did the blur in photoshop. That was just a very rough quick job to demonstrate how it could be done. I used the magnetic lasso to out line the flower and then cut the flower out. With the remaining back ground I used Gaussian blur sliding the blur effect till you get the amount of blur you are happy with. because I did a rush job I reduced the size of the back ground pic just a touch (by 5 pixels from memory?) so when the flower was pasted back on I didn't have an outline from cutting it out. As I said this was quick and a basic job. You could take a few more steps to soften the clear flower to make it blend into the picture better rather than looking like it is sitting on top. Hope that helps you collie_lover
  15. Brush????? What's a brush :D I give my girls a scruff with a towel maybe twice a month to shake any loose fur off but I can honestly say I have not brushed them since I can't even remenber when. Oh and I don't even have to bath them before scruffing with a towel, just give them a dry rub down and I guess it works a bit like rudies rubber mit.
  16. I second Blacktown At Glendenning. 5 minutes from Shalvey (give or take) and if you want first hand experience PM Pixie, this is where Holly has been doing so well with her training
  17. kelpiesrule try following this one I did way back for Jules B/W with bits of colour link
  18. being diabetic myself I just did a bit of a google as this made me think. I found a U.S site that says 70 -120 is normal and adjust that level to Aus readings it should be 4 -6 for good control. Hope that helps you out ;)
  19. oops, looks like I missed a few requests here. Very sorry to leave you guys hanging. If any one still wants work done please post your photos here and one of us will pop in and work on them for you. SLLH, can you too post the photo you want fixed up or is a large original that is better being emailed? If anyone wants to email larger file photos (as they are easier to work with) you can get me at barenecessitiesrats @ hotmail . com (just remove the spaces either side of the @ and . symbols)
  20. LOl thanks CD, I did end up having a look. So $80 at HN or $75 from the website. Not much difference but you still need to add delivery costs to the website product. I might stick to HN as I don't like getting stuff in the mail, but thats just me
  21. Not sure what the prices are like on that site (cause I'm too lazy to bother looking right now) but I was just looking for a spare for my 350D from harvey norman and they were around $80. The goodguys had them but I couldn't find anyone in the store free to help me with their prices and JB hifi had them for $90. Hope that helps you out
  22. Here you go Tara&Sam It is slightly shorter than ILTBY's as I wanted to keep the proportions in tact and as it was slightly too high I had to make it shorter to fit within the regulations
  23. Post the siggy up T&S and one of us can resize it for you if you"d like us to. Resizing should be able to be done in any editing programme, maybe if you tell us what you have someone will be able to give you pointers on how to do it your self.
  24. I hope these are the right colours Shihtzu&me, I used her name tag for the colours
