  1. The sign is a warning because of recent injuries and at the request of concerned members. The dam and channel are to be cleared out soon, it could not be done over the winter because the heavy machinery could not get access. Heavy rain over the last twelve months has shown up drainage issues we have not had for years, not just at the Park but over the whole locality. As it is many years since the dam was cleaned, there is a possibilty that rubbish used as original fill has come to the surface of the floor, plus rubbish may have been dumped by irresponsible people. The cumbungi weed has also proliferated and needs thinning out. So do the carp. Personally I would not go anywhere near the dam over summer because of the snakes The purpose of the dam is to receive drainage over the property and for use for retrieving with gundogs. It was not used for the latter much until the introduction of RATG last year which has really taken off so we have to make sure the dam is fit and safe for its original purpose, it was never meant as a swimming hole, that is just a bonus!!
  2. Utter rubbish, you can use any single word command in the English language, another language with the judge's permission. That is ANKC Rules, Obedience trials all over Australia are judged under those Rules, or they should be........... My three OCs, in fact all my titled dogs in Victoria have the "drop" command............ "down" in our house means get down - from me or the furniture or wherever. Commands are only noises to dogs, it just helps if we use the same noise for the same action all the time. The excutive command judges must use as per Rules is "down" or "down your dog", most of us use a different word because we think it helps avoid dogs working on judge's command, but we all know that doesn't work, dogs aren't that silly!!! There is only one exercise where a specified word must be used and that is "stay" in food refusal
  3. Curash powder soothes. Put it on just before dinner or a walk to change the subject for a while.............aloe vera gel is great, also put on before a diversion
  4. Victoria got rid of an official height card for Obedience years ago
  5. Fancy coming across that here, have not seen it for years, he was my uncle!! And of course every word makes sense...........
  6. Easter at KCC Park, two days, schedule in Feb 2012 Gazette
  7. Ballotting is not needed in Victoria much these days, can only think of one trial which regularly does it, many handlers enter more than one dog, including me. Most trials have enough land to cope, it is the available land which usually decides haw many tracks a day they can offer and most of our trials go three days. Sometimes it helps logistics if you are available more than one day, depends which tracks you are doing too I'm always amazed at the organisation with a tracking trial, they just go so smoothly, like a military exercise :-) The seven year minimum age applies to all disciplines in Victoria, a requirement of the insurance cover Have you joined the Tracking Club of Victoria? Financial year starts January 1st and members get a reduced entry fee at TCV trials Check TCV website out
  8. Trains aren't any better. I will be driving in later in the week but on Monday will be getting train to help friends and watch my breed judged. First train arrives at Showgrounds at 9.03, gates are advertised to open 9.30. Then I have to traipse across to the dog area Doesn't give much time if the breed starts at 10.00 I am awaiting a reply from Royal as to whether station staff will let me in before 9.30!!
  9. If the passes were attained in Victoria you don't need to supply any certificates at all. Only with interstate passes. Marked catalogues are submitted by Victorian clubs, you fill in details on application form and they should correspond If you live locally to KCC Park, you can lodge application over counter and have interstate certificates sighted so you can take them with you. Always keep photocopies of any cerificates you may lodge!!!
