  1. Hiya, Been through the horrible land shark stage with my GSD too. It is normal puppy behaviour unfortunately. Here is a link to a GSD forum that has lots of info about this exact same issue. Also as they are working dogs make sure to tire your pup out with both physical and mental stimulation. Good luck It will get better. http://www.germanshepherds.com/forum/puppy-behavior/
  2. You should so use the first one for xmas cards! Love it
  3. Is it possible to crate one of them so they can both be inside? Just a thought
  4. Kong puppy teething toy was a no-goer...even smeared in peanut butter! Jolly ball is only ever interesting if she has her littermate over for a playdate and there is competition for it!
  5. That is powerful and oh so true.

  9. Skin Condition means any diagnosed Condition regardless of cause or origin presenting in or affecting the skin (as an organ)Pre-existing Condition means: DD any Condition(s) or symptoms or signs of thatCondition occurring or existing in any form prior to the Commencement Date, or DD a latent infectious or parasitic Condition that manifests itself within a known incubation period following the Commencement Date indicating clear evidence that the Condition had existed or had been contracted prior to the Commencement Date, or DD any Illness or symptoms or signs of that Illness occurring or existing in any form during the Waiting Period. A Condition, Illness, Injury or disease may be considered Pre-existing whether or not it: DD was specifically diagnosed by a Vet, DD was treated by a Vet, DD is in remission at the time of application, DD is seasonal in nature even if in remission at the time of application, or DD is currently or previously being controlled by medication(s). in any way whatsoever. Treatment means From Medibank's PDF On my certifcate of insurance there are no exclusions listed however when I called them to query the nil refund they said that she is not covered for any skin, ear infections or conjunctivitis conditions ( I listed the last two when I initally applied).
  10. Thank you all for your replies I will say that her hotspot appeared literally overnight so it's not that I let it get so bad before I took her for treatment. I got her in to the vet first thing in the morning. She had to be anesthetized for them to shave, clean it and treat it. With the injections, sedation, cone, consultation, cream the bill came to over $280. The next day she was beside herself again (for want of a better description) so I took her back, and they gave her another pain injection. The next day she was still a wreck so I had to take her to another vet clinic (my vet was not open) and they sedated her again to be able to treat it. I had to take her back the next day for them to clean it and check it again. So the bill's were from 4 vet visits over 4 days. She was put on prednisone and cephalexin as well. I had never had experience with a hot spot before so had no idea what to expect or how to treat it. All I know is that my poor pup was so miserable and must have been in a lot of pain that I needed it treated however they thought was best for her. Again I have never had experience with medical insurance for pets before. Molly is the first dog I have done this with as i don't even know if there was such a thing available when I had my last dogs. I know now that I should have purchase it when I first brought her home. I just didn't realise that because she had a different skin condition earlier on, that ANY skin condition would not be covered. And no that was not listed as a pre-existing condition on the insurance certificate. Molly had been on Royal Canin during all of this too. Since then I have swapped her onto RAW and she appears to be great! Sorry this was so long too BTW.
  11. Pixie - I'm with Medibank. Oh and I should say it's taken 2 months for them to get to this point in the process!
  12. I took Molly to the vet when she was 10 weeks old for puppy pyoderma, then 2 months ago she had a hotspot that with four vet visits in four days, set me back nearly $800. Put in a claim and they rejected it. When I called to find out why they said she had a pre-existing skin condition (pyoderma) and that they look at the skin as one organ. So I cannot ever claim for ANY skin condition. This is just more a rant than anything, I realise in the scheme of life, it's not so bad but this not quite 1 year old dog has cost me around $3000.00 at the vets which is why I got insurance ( a bit late granted) and for paying $450 a year I am so angry! Plus the woman on the phone was rude. I put in 2 claims for the same issue as she went to two different vet clinics. One claim is still being processed and when I asked why, she said they received the forms on different days....um HELLO I posted both forms in the SAME envelope?!!! What the? Rant over but I would be interested if anyone has ever had a skin issue(s) refused for similar reasons?
  13. So does anybody know what the policy regarding skin conditions are with other insurer's? Medibank have denied my claims for Molly's hotspot as she had puppy pyoderma when she was 11 weeks old. Apparently that means she has a pre-exisiting skin condition and they treat the skin as "one organ". Isn't pyoderma super common in puppies???? I am so angry I spent nearly $800 on treatments.
  14. This a really good site too for info about RAW. Note :it is American so weights are not in metric http://www.rawdogranch.com/GettingStarted.htm Good luck, I will never go back after switching Molly to RAW
  15. I went with Medibank and so far I am not impressed with their service. Molly had a really bad hotspot that resulted in 4 vet visits in 4 days. I had to take her to a different vet for 2 of the visits as my vet wasn't open. So I sent off the claims and waited a month then called them and they said Oh we sent you a letter requesting her full medical records 2 weeks ago. Strangely I later received the letter with a date on it from the same day I called. I then sent off her full records AGAIN two weeks ago and have not heard a thing. Guess they will be getting another phone call :D
  16. Molly is 100% Raw fed - chicken, beef, lamb, roo including organ meat daily with bones such as chicken frames, necks etc
  17. I just wanted to add my support Is she on any anti-nausea meds to help ? Sending you both my best positive thoughts.
  18. Sorry if this is a dumb question but where abouts is this to be held? I looked at the website and couldn't see it listed? And also what topics are to be covered? I am interested to hear more!
  19. I was expecting great things from it too ( it has a 5 star rating) And it seemed to me to be one of the best options here is Aus
  20. I tried 1 bag also. Molly did not do well, loose poop. I have switched her to 100% RAW and she is thriving
