Its fun training a second dog, my 2nd lab is very different to train than the older 1.

Most of the show labs are at least eating half raw.... I think a lot of them ad fish oil to their meals too. Mason is water resistant lol but little Gibbs isnt he gets dirty real quick being so white so i'd prob have to bath him often even if he was an only dog

I use QV wash and it lathers really well, i bath mason often mostly also due to his allergies - the QV is not soap though so therefore does not strip the oils, but i spray diluted QV oil on Mason when wet as he has a naturally dry skin/coat as it is and i do the same for Gibbs. Show labs get bathed 1x a week anyway before shows and they are all still shiny

Aussielover on a whole i have been happy with Petplan. They sometimes take awhile to pay out ( about 4 weeks) but the only thing they dont pay for is Masons shampoos and ear wash. I look at it like this, i pay $500 per year per dog, first year i had mason we had numerous stomach upsets and one trip for an unpset stomach to the vet with tests etc came to $450 so just that one consult paid for the insurance if you see what im saying? If you have $5000 saved for emergencies when you use it its gone, but if you are insured you only loose the $500 ... Just my feeling and after having an allergy dog i wont ever not insure my dogs

I also only wanted a puppy early to mid 2012 and i had my name down for a yellow female. This litter came along and i liked the lines a lot ( also knew the sire, he was a pup at the same time as my older dog) , no yellow females were born but 2 lovely males were and once i saw them i knew it was a the litter for me.

I have insurance for my 2, the older 1 has allergies and it costs me quite a bit each year. 4 trips to dermatologist a year plus immunotherapy vaccines, antihistamines, vet visits and antibiotics for hot spots - all ads up

Question for the guru's, I am training my young puppy to do a few things, he is very sweet and eager but ( to me ) seems to catch on to things a bit slower than the older dog. Is it just because he is a pup and is learning or will he always take longer?? He can do sit with no lure, but I need a piece of food in my hand to get him to fold back into the drop. Trying to teach him to stand for shows and man is it hard he just wants to sit and stare at me ! I have not rewarded him for this he just copies the older one!

Aww I think he was lovely, he is only young

I feed my older dog half a cup of canidae morning and night with 250g meat a day plus a bone. Seems to work well for him. I did all raw but he just lost condition and was never as shiny as when I added some kibble in. He also gets whole frozen sardines from the fish market, cheese, lamb hearts and liver.

World of pets also sell them online i think

Puppy school says he is fine but i am not 100% confident of the class i dont agree with everything they say. However he is starting our clubs pup school in 10 dsys time after his vac and the instructor is very experienced and i really trust her. He plays fine with some pups but others he will tolerate only up to a point.

He also raises his front paw when he makes the noise - if that means anything.
