I placed my order yesterday, and have already had my shipping cost refunded. I had placed an order about two and a half weeks ago, when they were doing free shipping on song birds and everlasting treat balls, and they arrived yesterday, so it was a pretty good turnaround (aprox 16 days for it to ship into the country). The treat balls cleared customs. Now to investigate whether I can get another order over $100...

I'm still waiting for my treat balls from my last order to arrive.. Hopefully they will clear customs..

I'm having the same issue. I don't have any bulky items in mine, its all toys (spoilt dogs).. Its charging me shipping, cheaper shipping than the last time I tried to buy things through there, but $56 dollars for shipping is still a lot!

What Is The Worst Thing Your Dog Has Eaten?
melinda10786 replied to dubbleyoo's topic in General Dog Discussion
Monte chewed through a brand new lamp cord.. He also chewed my OH's brand new phone he left out. Ivy chews on the corner of the walls, the shower tiles, the shower screen... Too many other normal household objects to name whilst Monte and Ivy were puppies, but those are the worst ones from our household.. -
Do You Cut Your Dogs Nails?
melinda10786 replied to aussielover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I do my two myself. My partner helps by picking them up to hold them still (they go limp when picked up). Its over in 60 seconds. I just use nail clippers. -
How Dd You Convince Your Oh To Get Another Dog?
melinda10786 replied to Atanquin's topic in General Dog Discussion
We discussed whether it would be worthwhile having a second, so my OH could have one to train and to keep Monte company whilst we were at work... We finally decided to get another one after much discussion over a couple of months, rang a breeder who had a black boy available only to be told they had a girl available instead (which was our initial preference), hung up told my OH, rang back and said we'll be there tomorrow. And now we are a two dog household! Monte is clearly mine, and Ivy is smitten with my OH. In saying that, I do all the training, I pay for all vet costs and for toys etc. My OH contributes to the food bills.. So you need to ensure that you both want two dogs.. -
There is a lady at my club that does agility with her Chi (I think she has two, but I've only seen the one so far). She has apparently achieved a few titles with hers. She also just got a mini Foxie pup which she intends to do agility with as well, from what I've seen her do so far, this pup should do well.

What A Difference A New Home Makes.
melinda10786 replied to Gayle.'s topic in General Dog Discussion
Shae just looks stunning! And I can imagine she thinks living with you and your family GayleK is just fantastic. -
Flipping open the laundry basket lid to pinch socks... Only socks... Mine have both learnt from a young age how the basket works, and to get what they want out of it.. I think this started from my OH giving Monte his work socks to play with when he gets home (why on earth he would want to play with stinky socks I don't know but he loves it), he continued the trend when we got Ivy, so any kind of sock is a hot item in our house. They prefer to have one each, but playing tug with them is just as much fun! Monte will also sit and bat at you with a paw if you're not patting him enough. Ivy grabs a toy when you walk in the door, doesn't matter which toy, but she has to greet you with a toy in her mouth. This applies to any visitor in the house.

So What Kind Of Dog Do You Have?
melinda10786 replied to wantsapuppy's topic in General Dog Discussion
Two cocker spaniels :D -
Awww look at how big Scooter has gotten, he's so cute. Barkly's hiding his tongue though!

Do time out. We did time outs with Monte, so he learnt the difference between when it was play time and when it was quiet time. You just need to walk away when you want Jarvis to quiet down, he will learn that there are times he needs to settle. He may also be starting to teeth, so provide him with things to help sooth his gums, especially if he's starting to mouth. It will distract him from attempting it on you, and teach him people are not chew toys. And he is very cute :D

For The Ladies...if You Own A Big Dog...
melinda10786 replied to WillowGirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yep, I used to walk our family bullmastiffs, and people didn't believe he was the family dog and that I could walk him. My mum (about fiften to twenty years ago) used to walk two of them (one on each side).. The male at his heaviest was 65kgs, the female about 50kgs.. She said people would cross the road to avoid her, and then were surprised when the dogs didn't react. She said a lot of people think they are a males dog and can't be controlled by a female.. I love big dogs! -
Oh.... Go for it Photos are obligatory then!!

Ah you should have known better... We thought the play pen was a brillant idea, my Dad and OH spent over an hour, stringing mesh along the outside to stop Monte getting through the bars.. So how does he get over it.. By pushing the mesh down to get leverage over it.. I found him in the garage looking very impressed with himself when I got home I immediately pulled it apart, and just blocked off behind cupboards that he could fit behind. Once he discovered the gardens, he was happy. We use baby gates and wooden play pens to block things, they seem to work a treat and are handy to use inside the house for blocking off certain rooms and areas. With stairs, make sure they can't access from any angle. Cockers are good climbers, and I've seen them climb from underneath the step to get up if something looks really good further up the stairs.

I'd say a weekend and perhaps the Friday or Monday if you feel you may need it? I had five days to settle Monte in and he really didn't need it. I went out over the five days gradually, so by Monday morning when I went to work as normal, whilst there was some crying, he was fine. Me on the other end, was very disappointed and sad I had to leave him at home!! (I'm sure if he came to work, people wouldn't have minded though). We had him in a play pen for the first day (he managed to scale it) from then on, we just made sure the yard was secure and we used the play pen to section of parts of the garage he wasn't allowed into, he's been fine. Lots of toys and minimal fuss when you leave. I suspect he sleeps for most of the day. With Ivy, we had her for the weekend, by the Monday they were left together. There are plenty of places for them to go their separate ways if they need a break, kennel and trampoline bed in the yard, plus the three garden beds to hide in, and underneath our house is a garage with a dog door with a bean bag and massive pillow bed in it. So they're spoilt for choice We also leave a box of toys in the garage which they play with during the day. Each get their own kongs.

Dog Model And Bathroom Needed Please!
melinda10786 replied to huga's topic in General Dog Discussion
Email sent :D I'm comfortable in my own skin, though not sure if I have the outfits you described in my wardrobe! Can't wait to see the photos however once you've done your shoots, the ones you've posted look fabulous! -
Awww poor Barkly, I think he looks cute with his tongue out!
-
Definately not alone... My two destroy the more expensive toys first, the cheap ones (so just cheapy stuffed toys from garage sales and what not) last forever.. Unfortuately since we got Ivy, poor Monte's toys that managed to stay intact from day one, have subsequently met an untimely end by destuffing.

I have pet insurance for my two, it doesn't cover a lot (they will only reimburse up to $500 for vet bills), but I would rather have it as a just in case. I also put away $50 a fortnight to cover any unexpected vet bills, plus any other costs for them like worming, flea and tick treatment etc.

Hi, Need A Good Vet Around Ferny Hills
melinda10786 replied to aspenthedog's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My parents take their bullmastiff to the vet up at Ferny Hills, its just behind the shops on Ferny Way. No complaints from my parents. Hunter can be a bit funny about certain people, but he bounds into the vet clinic and the nurses are apparently great with him, as are the vets. -
Vet Comparsions - Am I Paying Too Much?
melinda10786 replied to Thelms's topic in General Dog Discussion
That's pretty good.. I just paid $430 to have my girl desexed (she's 10kg), some of that included an amount for an ear flush (she's had issues with ear infections since we picked her up). Our E-collar was $15.. -
Wow! I will also add that your dogs are just stunning :D Mine don't climb... Monte looks at me like I'm silly, Ivy will give it a go, but she's still a bit small (both are cockers)
