  1. They are soo cute.. They have grown up so quickly. Are they allowed to play with pots too or are they just Frodo's?
  2. Nawww... They are just adorable.. (I'm secretly a little sad BJ's ears went up, they looked cute down!). Izzy's expression in the second photo of her chasing BJ is priceless. How are they slotting in with the rest of your gorgeous pack?
  3. Congratulations on your new arrival :D I attend PADS and recommend it, they have puppy classes, beginners obedience and motivation and control. The motivation and control is just a rolling class that you can do each week. There is also Metro at Chermside - they are at Marchant Park across from Chermside shops and I believe they also do puppy classes and obedience. There is also another club at Strathpine which do puppy classes and obedience.
  4. I love Theodore!! He is just gorgeous. Tarquin has some lovely colouring. I love reading your updates of all your gorgeous foster puppies/dogs and think you do such a fantastic job :)
  5. I get so frustrated when I see people not picking up, I walk two dogs together and I stop and collect, and keep going.. I always pick up and have a stockpile of bags in my pocket or waistbag. The number of people in our area that won't pick up is incredible, if its dark I won't walk on the grass so I don't step in something unexpected. I actually found some on our front lawn this morning Its not hard to pick up, and its not hard to carry bags, either put them in your pocket or tie them to your dog leash.
  6. He's got such a beautiful face :) A very happy belated birthday
  7. Agnes Water, QLD http://www.gibsonspetfriendly.com/ This place was fabulous, it was a short drive to the beach or you could walk depending on which one you wanted to go to. We often took the dogs up to 1770 which is a 5 minute drive, so they could play in the shallow water in the cove instead of getting flattened by the waves.. They had an absolute ball and it was a fantastic house to stay in. Plenty of room for lots of people (just my OH and I went), but it had a dog door into the courtyard and a box of toys for them to play with. Only thing we did find was that we locked them in at night time, so they couldn't chase the toads in the courtyard (it was the end of January) otherwise highly recommended!
  8. Mine love playing bitey face.. Ivy gets a real high pitched squeaking noise on her when they really get into it.. Monte just grumbles.
  9. Happy birthday to a gorgeous boy! I love the photo :D Enjoy your meat pie birthday cake!
  10. I have yet to be in this situation, but we would prefer to have someone come and stay at our house to look after the dogs. A new kennel has opened near us though and we would consider them as well.. Depends on the length of the stay.
  11. Training or perhaps trick training seems to help tire them out. Or giving her dinner in a Kong or treat ball so she has to work for it. Both mine were loonies when they were desexed, but I found those things helped.
  12. I think it depends on whether you really want to.. We thought Monte would be a bit put out having a second dog and whilst he does still get his nose out of joint if we're paying a little more attention to Ivy, but he loves having company. Mine are opposites in a lot of ways, and I think that helps too. Ivy is very independantly minded and is happy to go off and do her own thing, and will come for a cuddle when suits her, whereas Monte can be a bit more velcro, but also is happy to do his own thing (generally when Ivy is asleep so he can steal all the toys she's been playing with  ) As they are a smaller breed, I can walk the two together on my own during the week and then my OH walks with us on the weekend. Monte gets to go to agility during the week and obedience on the weekend, but I've started swapping that so Ivy can come instead. As long as you can dedicate the time to swapping them around and doing the training separately and giving them time to themselves I can't see why not. We love having the two, my OH and I watch them from our back stairs chasing each other round the yard in tag team fashion and don't regret the decision. Yes, the vet, food and training bills go up, but if you're happy to have the two and dedicate the time, then they are definately worth it.
  13. It will take her a little while to work out the toilet training, she's still just a baby. My girl was the same, she never showed any signs of needing to go, however there are ways you can encourage the going outside. You will more than likely need to accompany her to make sure she's actually toileting and not just going outside to sniff. Take her outside after she's eaten, after she's had a drink, after zoomies, after she's woken up. Make sure you take her outside right before bed time. If she doesn't go, take her outside every 20-30 minutes until she does. Praise her like crazy when she does toilet outside, and you can even offer treats to reinforce. Don't growl at her if she has an accident inside, just simply take her outside so she knows that's where to go and praise and reward like crazy when she goes in the right spot. Neither of mine were reliably toilet trained until about 5-6 months. Good luck :)
  14. I have k9 pro one which is great, I also had a lovely lady make me up a couple made to measure as I wanted something a little smaller as I found the k9 pro one a bit too big for agility nights. They were custom made to what I preferred, so wipe out pocket, and a zipped back pocket for my keys. (www.pawsforthoughts.web.com)
  15. I think it depends on what test it is, medication, length of time of visit. My last vet visit was $120 but that included ear drops. If its just a normal consult (so in and out), I get charged around $60 per visit.
  16. I think it depends on the dog, when Monte has had kennel cough we've been told not to take him out for a period of 14 days and that chances are our other dog will probably get it too. Both times when Monte has had it, Ivy hasn't caught it, but we won't take them out for the full 14 days to ensure neither of them spread it. Not all strains of kennel cough can be vaccinated for, its just like the human flu.
  17. A friend of mine named his female kitten "Meow"..
  18. We don't see anyone normally on our morning walks, maybe the occasional walker and one older gentleman with his greyhound if I head in his general walking direction at the same time (we always stop to say hello to each other). As mentioned before, I tend to stick to well lit streets anyway. My dogs are always walked on lead. My two are a bit funny when it gets cooler, they don't want to get out of bed, but once they realise its time for a walk, they get excited very quickly. Its been a little chilly in the mornings here already, so winter this year will be interesting, as I didn't walk both in winter last year, as the puppy didn't have all her needles done.
  19. I walk in the dark, but I tend to find that I walk different ways to what I would in summer, so try to stick to streets that have decent lighting.
  20. This is just fabulous news!! :D Kelscat and Carlo - you have both done incredible work with this beautiful girl, I hope her family enjoy her company!
  21. Its been awhile since the last update for Pearl, any chance of some new photos and an update on how she's going? :)
  22. It looks fabulous! And what a gorgeous photo of Tag :D
  23. Yep Ivy (cocker spaniel) loves it.. She stands in her clam shell pool and waits for it to be filled. My brother's cocker spaniel cross poodle is the same, yet my other cocker isn't really a fan. He'll get his feet wet and that's about it, Ivy snorkles along and puts her head under to blow bubbles. Its very cute.
  24. That looks like a lot of fun! I love the expression on Missy's face, it is truly priceless!
  25. Our boy had the same issues with car sickness, it sounds like you are on top of it! We tried ginger, and that seemed to have minimal effect. The junket tablets seemed to work really well. We found that not feeding at least two hours prior to travelling ensured that even if he was sick it wasn't going to be a lot. I put the baby mesh shade barriers on the windows, so we can have the windows all the way down and with plenty of air flow it really helped with the car sickness. Monte liked being able to see out the window, but because he was so little, the only thing he could focus on was the back of the chairs, but once he got to the stage where he could look out the window and feel the breeze coming through, he seemed to be much better. We took him and Ivy to Agnes Water at the end of January and that's a five hour car trip alone including stops and not one bout of car sickness! We wouldn't have been able to do that about 12 months ago. They do tend to grow out of it too. We had to ensure we made all trips in the car enjoyable (so the car ride was fun and wherever we were going was going to be fun) for him otherwise because he was getting sick, he'd refuse to get in the car, so perhaps something to keep in mind as well.
