  1. Sorry to hear that My friend's dog had one of those and it didn't work for him at all.
  2. I have never suggested that raw was simple or complicated. I do follow a ratio. I was simply giving a suggestion. So much for having tried all sorts of things. If you don't like it, fine. When my vet put my dog on an elim diet he just had a protein source, no carbs. Perhaps that's wrong but that's the way I did it. I don't think there is a need for potato or sweet potato in a dog's diet and that's my opinion. Still don't get the part about the dermatologist and its relevance.
  3. Some do, especially those starchy vegetables. No I haven't seen a dermatologist but what has that got to do with anything? Suit yourself, but I feed raw and I think it's perfectly balanced.
  4. Bark beauty? Canine cuts? Dashing dogs? Handsome hounds? Poised paws? Snout salon?
  5. Have you tried prey model raw? Skip the cheese, yoghurt, carbs and veggies, all of which can trigger problems in allergy dogs. I have a westie x and my poor boy had rashes and licked himself red on kibble. Since yours cannot tolerate rice and does not do well on kibble why not listen to his needs and start with a single protein source for a while? Raw is also low in protein which is good for growing puppies.
  6. Out of interest, what was the home prepared meal that you fed?
  7. I love Pawsome and Vanity Fur! Hmm, maybe Tuxedog?
  8. I taught mine a command. Works at least 50% of the time lol but leaves a very sad looking dog!
  9. I agree wrt baby wipes and urine off. I also had long lead for training recall, ear cleaners, bones, tooth brush, supplements, clippers, treat balls, bitter sprays to protect my cables and furniture from being ruined.
  10. A bit old but... http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/8295843/starving-dogs-eat-owner An Indonesian man who left his nine dogs to starve while he was away on a two-week holiday was decapitated and eaten by the hungry animals when he returned home. Police found Andre Lumboga's body ripped to pieces on Monday after a neighbourhood guard noticed a revolting smell coming from his house in the Batam Centre district of the Riau Islands, a province of Indonesia north-east of Singapore in the South China Sea. The guard had gone to his house to investigate after noticing the 50-year-old's suitcase sitting outside the front door five days after he returned from his trip, The Sun reports. Police chief Eriyana said the man's skull was found in a different room to his body. "We suspect that the dogs were hungry, so they attacked Andre, because they had not been fed for 14 days," Eriyana told media on Tuesday. Seven of the nine dogs ate the two other canines before eating their master, the Jakarta Post reports. Lumboga was from the island of Sulawesi — an area in Indonesia where the local diet famously includes dogs, bats and forest rats, The Sun reports.
  11. I feed my kitten the VIP fussy cat roo mince. Only way I can afford roo for her at this stage. At least it's better than supermarket dry food. Obviously not the only thing I feed her but that's by far her favourite.
  12. Is this the most expensive dog breed here? Or are there pricier ones?
  13. By collar I mean like a man's collar. Wow I'm confused.
  14. I have the one that looks like a collar. Took less than two days for my other boy to rip the bit where the tag hung haha, but the collar is beautiful
  15. Do puppies outgrow zoomies? Mine seem to have stopped
  16. I would use this product again if it had a grain-free version.
  17. My lot will chew on the pee pads but not the fake grass though. Then again they didn't take to using the fake grass so they toilet downstairs twice a day.
  18. I had to when they were younger, now they grind them themselves. If I had to I would cut them myself. Polar has short nails (nothing to be cut) but they are still very sharp/painful when you come into contact with them
  19. That is really cheap compared to what I have now i wish I lived in SA!
  20. Meh I have given calcium in the form of bones and goat's milk to puppies and they were fine. You sort of have to give bones on a raw diet. So are you saying don't give vit c cos it promotes calcium uptake? Natural calcium is fine, calcium supplements are bad. I should have made that more clear - don't give joint formulas containing calcium or calcium tablets. I give vitamin C because it helps promote calcium uptake from the dogs diet but does not alter the amount of calcium. It's especially good when pups are "knuckling over". Natural calcium also will change the Ca:P ratio though. Just add more meat will do. Vitamin C is a good anti-inflammatory, but pick the best form to give, be it ascorbic acid or ester c.

  22. I would say fish oil and some GLM powder (or GLM itself if you can find it for cheap). I don't have a dog with problems but my 6mo kitten has joint inflammation and I don't want to give her something that's too strong (have heard how glucosamine isn't good for youngins, not sure how true it is). She also gets ester c.
  23. I would get insurance, then get the pup off to the vet ;) Just in case.
  24. Artificial shark's fin soup is common in Asia (cheaper and tastes almost similar), and $20 for 500gm is expensive enough for China.
