My theory is it's because they are looking up, either into the sun or bright night time lights. Try it, look at the ground then look up to the bright sky with the same enthusiasm as an attentive dog does. Always makes me sneeze! Hmmmmm maybe, maybe not

Completely agree Staranais, I'm not pushing any agenda. I would just like to see more vets use the full range of available information to treat/ educate each dog/owner combination.
-
My comment about the food wasn't in regards to money, instead trying to highlight that a large number of vets don't do their own research on topics like vaccination and diet. Both aspects are heavily guided by the big companies. Not saying an opinion on either is wrong, but so many vets allow their clinic protocols to be steered by manufacturing companies. I applaud vets/clinics who take a step back and do research.

Maybe we should start a thread so people can add vets who routinely titre test in each state.
-
I always thought we had a 3 dog limit per household unless a registered breeder in NSW?
-
I'm guessing the vets are a little worried that without yearly vaccinations the average pet owner won't bring their dog/ cat in for a yearly check up. Which I think is warranted from both a financial and health aspect.
-
Hmmmmm my guess is because of the likes of Pfizer, Virbac & Boehringer. Vaccine income is HUGE, and also makes up a tidy portion of a vets income. After reping for many years a lot of vets just follow the crowd, and many are steered by the multinationals. Just look at the dry food sales within vets. If you find a vet who proactively raises the idea of titre testing then I'd be very happy with that vets enthusiasm for animal health and further education.

Colour / Pattern / Markings - Importance?
Inevitablue replied to Aziah's topic in General Dog Discussion
I much prefer the look of blue cattle dogs. When picking the current puppy I didn't even look at red pups. In saying that the dam of both of mine is red, and I wanted her puppies because she throws such a great temperament. I only focused on the blues in the litter. Luckily, the bitch was pick anyway, and breeder was happy for me to have her. I wanted a male for the second, and he was pick male. A red bitch was overall pick though. Yes, colour is vastly not as important as conformation, temp, health etc, but in saying that you should be able to find a pup that ticks all the boxes if your patient enough. Relativey easy when my breed only comes in 2 colours. I'm not a fan of plain faced cattle dogs, but if the pup was outstanding I would still take it. If someone has their heart set on a red SBT for instance, then with enough effort they should be able to find a suitable pup. I dont agree with compromising other aspects just for colour. In that case the purchaser should keep looking. -

Vet In S-e Melbourne Who Believes In Raw
Inevitablue replied to Ozmutt's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My cousin takes her dog to a vet in Castlemaine. I don't know where that is in Victoria though they titre test her dog instead of yearly vaccinating and encourage raw feeding. If it's no where near you maybe they could recommend someone. -
Smoothiegirl needs to get in here with her brag!

Unable To Keep Dog Thats Under A Contract
Inevitablue replied to pinkpuppy's topic in General Dog Discussion
Lol, maybe at that price were you expecting her to come fully trained? Price tag means nothing to your dog. Why don't you spend some time/ money training her? -
So if you saw a loose dog on the road that looked a bit freaked out you wouldn't stop to see if you could catch it and take it to a vet for a microchip scan? This guy could have 'called the dog over' to catch it perhaps. Maybe not a dog savvy person, maybe it was a bitey dog who knows. Just this afternoon there was slow traffic on the M7. Two large lean mastiffy type dogs loose on the median strip of the M7 A concerned guy pulled over and caught them, and then a motorcycle highway patrol also stopped to assist. No doubt these 2 saved those dogs lives. I swear they must have fallen off a ute, as the surrounding area was all concrete sound proofed.

I used Cerenia when driving from Sydney to Coonabarabran with a 5 mo prone to car sickness. Worked perfectly, and the cost was worth it for a once off long trip. Certainly beat having a zillion towels handy and pulling over for random spews!

Thank you!! Ons, I do plan to get around the state. She is still in Minor Puppy, so have been holding off just a little until she matures. Poocow has very kindly offered for me to tag along when she does country runs. I think I will do Forbes with her.

Can I ask if the dog is co owned between 2 breeders? He is That would be interesting. Sorry for going OT I'm confident what I'm doing should be fine. I do what I'm best at, training and competing and she will do what she does best, breeding. I've already taken one of her girls and got her HT title for her. Originally she offered me a puppy at no cost, because she was enjoying watching the success I'm having with a bitch I bought from her. This little male is so outstanding so far that she wanted to run him on as a potential stud, and I like him because, well, he is perfect (so far)

Thanks RV for the link. I'm ordering the first one now and will see how it looks on. (I keep justifying the spending saying its still cheaper than horses )

Thanks, I might just have to go to a leather shop. Hopefully if I buy a nice piece of leather and give them my fabric one they can model something.
