You would have got an awesome spot that early
-
Hey Manda - it's 6pm Evening show I didn't receive my number either - not surprising given the Christmas mail. Eta - here's the gazette ad http://www.ozentries.com.au/schedule/1211dogsnswlac.pdf

Thanks Gemelo

Is it going to be that chockers around the rings? Or will I be able to get a spot a row or two back if I turn up Sat morning?
-
Ok when you drive in the main road will take you past working etc. Instead of going straight along that head towards the left and go up the hill as your group is on the upper ring area. Thanks!

I have the diagram but I can't make sense of it when looking at the roads on google maps

After Some Advice, About Purchasing An English Staffy
stonecutter replied to Bud Buns's topic in General Dog Discussion
Some BYBs have obtained a registered dog, but are not themselves registered as breeders with Dogs Vic (or the relevant Canine Council) - hence only saying the parents have papers ;) -
Susan Garrett Recallers

Nice posts Kavik! I realised that my behaviour needs to be a more consistent signal to get a consistent behaviour from my dog. So far we're not doing too well with RZ on the right - at the beginning she wouldn't even let me stand next to her on her LHS/my RHS - but at least now I can move myself into the position and she won't jump away. We're doing a little bit of reinforcement every day, just upping it. Ziva came into season just before Day 1 and I'm finding she's got a lot less drive and is more subdued - but still happy to work -
Puppies, A Social Experience Apparently
stonecutter replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
In retrospect, my puppy is now 11.5 months old and I wish that I had taken the approach that LMSW is taking - neutralisation of distractions and focus on me. If I had done this, I'd have less problem barking (at every leaf, when I move a wheelbarrow in the yard, people that walk past our back fence - which is open) and other issues such as racing off to meet strangers because she thinks there is more value there, that I'm now working through with a behaviourist. Yes it is good for puppies to have socialisation - LMSW's GSD pup has met my Jap Spitz under controlled conditions and her terms - he doesn't have no interaction with other dogs, just on her terms (which is fair enough IMO) -
Even Dogs In Wheelchairs Can Do Agility

Wow - I loved it when she still tried to jump - so amazing! -

I'm having trouble getting the RZ on the right side - will have to look at the FAQs. Ziva's used to being in heel position, but "march" (which is what I am planning to call the RHS) is a little difficult - she keeps trying to flip around in front. Does anyone's dog try to anticipate when playing Call Once? I think I need a third person to get involved so we can make it more random. -
I believe most people recommend Gary and Neil Barnsley at Austral (though I've never been to see them, we use Gary Christou out of Orange, but he comes to Warick Farm and Hawkesbury Racecourses once a month)

Thanks JulesP - I actually contacted them about the Midi and they said they had stopped manufacturing it

We were already playing Crate Games but we had heaps of fun last night playing Call Once - I haven't logged on for the day 1 stuff yet - that's my lunch hour task -
Ag Shows Vs Regular Dog Club Shows
stonecutter replied to stonecutter's topic in General Dog Discussion
True - I've been conciously looking at entering country show weekends to help support country clubs (since I'm sure the city clubs have no problems getting entries!) -
I'd love a smaller size bath - I was looking into a hydrobath from the regular outlets (Barf Shop, Perfect Paws etc) but they were all one-size-fits-all - but for my 5.1kg Jap Spitz - I would never need anything that huge.

Ag Shows Vs Regular Dog Club Shows
stonecutter replied to stonecutter's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks folks We might enter a few and give it a go! -
Hey all - I've been looking at the 2012 schedule and there are a fair few weekends where I have the choice of an Agricultural & Horticultural society show or a dog club show. A friend who does dressage with her horses has told me to steer clear of ag shows as it brings out the crazies and she needs to watch every inch of her horses and gear like a hawk because of terrible experiences with the public. Any pro's to going to ag shows? Usually OH & I go to shows at EP - but at an Ag show I believe he'd need to buy an entry ticket as well. I'm sure parking at Ag shows would be more difficult as well because it's not just dog exhibitors. So I'd love to read what people think! Or if there are any ag shows that Sydney people would recommend (I'm happy to drive within 2.5-3 hrs of Sydney)

Rysup - was that the wet trip to Bathurst for the Greater Western Show? If so - well done! We have 1 dog and camping trips away in a station wagon are very squishy - we now hire a trailer for the weekend (or we stay in a cabin!)

How Do You Get Rid Of Weeds Safely?
stonecutter replied to Bluefairy's topic in General Dog Discussion
And to make the glypho kill weeks faster - add a good dash of seasol in with the weed killer (seems strange to add a growth agent - but the plants just suck the poison into its system faster!) - you'll see them start to die off as early as 3 days - fully dead in a week. Otherwise it takes usually 2 weeks to be fully dead. -
Thanks stonecutter. I have been involved with the breed for about 9 years now, helping to handle at occassional shows but finally have one of my own. You have seen my little Tango on FB. Ah - I know who you are now Can't wait to meet Tango out on the show circuit - we've seen him entered on the catalogue a few times.

OT - but welcome to the JS world dancinbcs - hope you come see us and share pics in the Jap Spitz/Samoyed breed thread

You can also pick up a Ruffwear life jacket like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Big-Eddy-Float-Coat-Ruffwear-Small-NEW-FREE-SHIPPING-/180750479140?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a15916f24 6 kilos at 4 months is very heavy - mind you, some people still have old lines (where the size of JS is a lot bigger). But the breeder is right - no work on the hind legs, no running on concrete, no going up and down stairs. puppies love to be exuberant but sometimes we have to stop them

I second the steamed pumpkin - I used 2 tablespoons when I was trimming down Ziva at 4 months.
