  1. ^ upload the photos to a site like http://imageshack.us/ and post the link it gives you in here. I think. Very nice photos, Snook. I have a nifty fifty (f1.8) :D But no doggie-related photos So here is one I took with that lens, on my D90 (before I got the D700)even though it's not dog-related
  2. http://aca.ninemsn.com.au/article/8264705/twisted-sisters-fence-fight I had no idea what this was all about. So I watched the above video, of the story. Now I want my 5 mins 34 secs back
  3. Someone's watching Don for signs of Alzheimer's...right?
  4. That's horrible My young GSD was stolen years ago... very sad like losing a member of the family.
  5. I've been using a D90 for about 3 years now, so the SD cards too. Always Sandisk Extremes. Never had a problem, and I've really abused them! Might be the brand? Or like others have said, the camera.
  6. I see very few dogs being walked around here, and those that I do see aren't pure breds. When I used to have a gorgeous GSD...Bundy. He was very fluffy, his gold bits were very bright, his dark bits were very dark... I would often get comments from other people when we were on walks...those that were game enough to come near him GSD really do have a bad rep. Unfortunately he was stolen from us not far from his first birthday...but that's a whole other story. I love seeing other people's dogs when I'm out and about. I almost always ask permission to pet them, because I can't resist
  7. In retrospect, no I don't think B&W works, though upping the brightness might help. My mistake, for some reason I thought you meant you were changing the WB on the camera...I should have realised, identical photos...diff WB...obviously done in post-processing... I think I need another coffee...
  8. Try playing around with it manually. Also don't forget you can change it in post-processing. It'd be interesting in B&W....
  9. Caesar's wives; Cornelia Pompeia Calpurnia Caesar's mother was named Aurelia Cotta, and of course one of his lovers was Cleopatra. If you wanted a theme...
  10. The best site for researching cameras/lenses/accessories; dpreview A forum you may be interested in for photographic discussioon, product reviews, user comments and tips; The Photo Forum
  11. I really like this one; Nice and clear.
  12. LCDs and LEDs (un-calibrated ones) are all gonna make things looks brighter than they really are. The only monitor that will give you a nearly-perfect idea of what they'll look like prinnted is actually a CRT, the old chunky monitors The best of the pro photogs and graphic people all use CRTs. Glad you found a way to make them look good printed
  13. Thank you for posting. I watched this with tears streaming down my face Re-posting on Facebook. They have such...human eyes. If that makes sense.
  14. Agreed. My mum has a Mini Foxie, absolute sweetie, but the kids next door went through a phase of calling her over to the fence, then throwing hard toys and things at her. If she snapped/growled at them (she has a frightening snarl/growl) perhaps gave them a love bite...I don't think I'd really care. They'd learn a valuable lesson in life - DON'T HURT LIVING CREATURES. What is everyone learning from this? Dogs are bad, dogs cannot be trusted and dogs that react to being provoked or doing what comes naturally (protecting their pack - their owner) shall be DESTROYED. I fear for the human race, I really do...
  15. It just means it's either a 32 or 64 bit operating system. If you press the Windows Key + Pause a box will come up, under System it will have a list of your computers bits and pieces, one of which is System Type, and it will tell you if you have a 32 or 64bit system. It shouldn't matter, you just need to know which one to download.
  16. No, sorry. Never had to. They're both popular programs, though.
  17. http://www.cardrecovery.com/ or Sandisk recommend one, but it's not free. http://www.lc-tech.com/ Those are the ones I know of. Good luck!
  18. I don't do dog photography (not even close...) but I do have the Nikon 24-70 f2.8. GREAT lens. I'll assume the Canon one is good too Note: I use it on a full-frame. If you have a cropped sensor a 24-70mm will yield a different focal length for you... Snook that those are beautiful photos Especially love the composition of the first.
  19. This. Are parents just not teaching children common courtesy and/or sense anymore? Poor kid.
  20. I wonder if the girl went up to the dogs...and if so what were the parents doing in letting her? Yeah the owner shouldn't have left them there, but I was taught at a young age never to approach a dog I didn't know, unless the owner was there and gave me permission to pet them. Regardless of breed.
  21. Thanks for the replies everyone. I wasn't 100% sure, and after doing the sums on everything I have to do for her anyway, like vaccinating and desexing (and that's assuming she has no underlying health issues, such as the knee thing Chihuahuas are known for) I'm be better off to go through a breeder, cost-wise. That's completely removing the cuteness factor from the equation. Also I definitely don't want to fall in love with the little darling only for it to have to suffer through whatever health issues she may have, regardless of whether I can have them fixed them or not. I want a dog for life (well, their expected life-span I guess) and the happiest life he or she can have. Again, thanks for all the advice I am definitely going to a proper breeder. On that note, any recommendations for Chi breeders in SE QLD? Or even Nth NSW.
  22. I know I know...buy from a breeder to be sure.... but look at her I was looking for a kitten for my husband and saw her by chance and completely fell in love with this little girl. My name is on a few Chi breeder waiting lists. I've wanted one for years. She is out of two pure Chihuahuas, not a puppy farm or pet store though. I will definitely be desexing and fully vaccinating her. Longhair, female, 9weeks old in this pic. Thoughts?
  23. If anyone's interested, I just rang a veterinary clinic in Marsden regarding getting my soon-to-be-here puppy vaccinated and they said parvo is rife around there and where I live (Kingston) and just about all of Logan so definitely keep all un-vacc'd dogs inside. Seems like the outbreak continues It's sad that not everyone vaccinates when you consider how inexpensive it really is, compared to treatment for parvovirus.
  24. I made my own 'mark', for my photography. People still steal though. I see my photos on Facebook, Tumblr... it doesn't mater what you do - anything put on the internet can be stolen. Write a nice 'Infringement of Copyright Notice' email and send that along with a threat about contacting their ISP...should do the trick. To help in finding your stolen photos, sites like TinEye are helpful. Reverse image search.
