I got an e-mail back from the Sec and they said, no having to Qualify "at this stage" - so I presume they're looking at doing that in the future.
-
I don't think you have to qualify for them... I've never entered before but I was planning to with Jedi and Abby... Someone correct me if I'm wrong! But they're just like a normal trial right - you don't have to be fancy?

Depends if you like a challenge. They aren't as smart as a working dog but they can still work but they're an independent breed so you have to come at them from a different perspective. I like them because they are a challenge. Danes require very little exercise as youngans and then about 30 minutes a day as an adult unless you want to up it over time. I like the challenge, but not overly stubborn, so long I can work with them I'm happy Sounds like a great breed, working dogs are great although probably a little to much to handle exercise wise ;) Every dog is different but they're certainly no Aussie Shepherd. If you want to do competitive Obedience and you want to do it with more ease then don't get a Dane :p Not for show or anything like that, just as an enjoyable pet The dog doesn't have to be smart to show ;) But for Obedience work you'll want some work-ability If just for pet, you'll get in what you put in - certainly a Breed you have to put a lot of training into as an untrained Giant is a dangerous dog and problems you consider small with other breeds will be highly visable with a Giant breed.

I never said I wanted a Poodle or a perfect dog. I meant that you dismissed Poodle out of hand - obviously have no idea what they are like. So far your criteria are: Doesn't need (much if any) exercise Doesn't shed Not small Is not for the children So a Robo-Dog seems perfect. I'm not saying I would recommend a Poodle - probably too much work for you I never said anything about shedding - get your fact straight before answering or don't bother, assumptions such as yours are useless. If poodle breeders are like that yes I would rather dealing with a robo-dog NO need to be gratuitously insulting Chill out Poodle people!

What's the deal with the NSW State Titles Comps? Do you have to qualify for them? There's not many trials in October and this is one of them so just wondering what the deal is with it in regards to a CCD perspective.

If a Breeder has whelped their litter inside and has spent a fair bit of time with them then they should without doubt be able to pick a suitable puppy on your behalf. Yes, I believe there are some dogs that you just don't click with.

People who do these kind of things go onto much worse things so I hope they deal with them very seriously.

2010 Training/title/goals Wish List
sas replied to Seita's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
*Bump* Wish list for 2010 is to obtain CCD (just looking for a pass not high points LOL) and start working towards CD which we'll have to retrain the heel as motivation lacks as well as the drop from a distance which he does sometimes but not others. And hoping that we can get Dante to actualy hold the dumbell rather than just throwing it at me when he returns with it! -
Danes can do agility. Tunnels come in a standard size so just because you're a bigger dog doesn't mean you get a bigger tunnel. Typically you would teach the dog tunnels as a pup and as they grow they learn to duck. You can teach them to them as adults by collapsing the tunnel so it's effectively just a hoop and then let it out more and more slowly.

I have one of the smaller pups from the litter and he is an undersized adult. However I've heard of many small pups being the biggest as adults.

Who cares about walking in a straight line, I have to figure out what is left and what is right first!

Every 2 days until it clears (generally) - it'll clear up when it clears up Different for different dogs and depends on how bad the area is.

Best not to ask Sometimes I feel like giving up, I am a mess at trials, my nerves are ridiculous and it is effecting Daisy terribly ;) Huski I have always been a basket case when it comes to nerves..So I have started doing what I used to do at uni exam time. Take Vitamin B. It works on the nervous system and for me manages to take the edge off so that I can actually function. I use an executive stress formula and take one tablet a day for a week before the trial. It works for me so I dont care if someone says to me it is only mind over matter so long as it works. Whatever you do dont give up!!! Absolutely! I'm a lover of Valerian for humans and dogs!
