Perhaps one of the reasons for these bully breeds roaming is that they are self-socialises out seeking company ? ;)

Bill Bruce is coming to Australia Aimee Mundt / 14 hours agoThe Panel is delighted to announce that retired Calgary ranger, Bill Bruce, is coming to Australia as the Panel's guest on 15 October 2013. Mr Bruce will first visit Sydney; then travel to Melbourne on Saturday 19 October; and then to Perth on Wednesday 23 October before returning to Sydney to conclude his visit on Sunday 27 October. Further details of his visit will be posted when his itinerary is finalised. It is planned to hold a seminar in Melbourne on Sunday 20 October to which Council local laws officers and members of the public will be invited on a "first in" basis. The seminar will be organised in conjunction with Saving Dogs and Dogs on Trial Victoria. In Perth a similar seminar is planned for Saturday 26 October, to be organised in conjunction with West Australians Against BSL. Whilst in Australia Mr Bruce will meet decision-makers, media, Council rangers, and those who attend the seminars. The purpose of his visit is to enable him to espouse the merits of the Calgary model (early socialisation of pups, dog training, licensing and education of owners) by comparison with the deficiencies of the current breed specific legislation model. The Panel gratefully acknowledges the financial and other support of West Australians Against BSL and Dogs on Trial Victoria. We also reiterate our special thanks to all of our donors to the Foundation's 'End BSL' account to help fund the cost of Mr Bruce's visit. BAWP - Barristers Animal Welfare Panel bawp.org.au

My family had a Basset Hound in the late seventies . Claudius was the greatest snorer of all time . The breeder had warned us of this , as well as their appetite and wandering capabilities . He was legendary on all counts !I hope you get some reassurance that is better than my antidote though !
-
My dogs and cat recently had an eight night stay at a kennel . I was surprised by the lack of protocol to follow regarding pick ups and drop offs . It got pretty hectic at closing time and I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were incidents between animals coming and going .
-
It's hard not to see these people as chumps. They are easy pickings for the RSPCA . P=Prevention . Where were they ?
-
Kerser is on death row , whilst the other dog of the household is safe at home .Other dog owners may have received a fine for having their animals unregistered.. BSL is the issue here .

The Author states that it was an American Pit Bull Terrier who mauled and killed a St Albans Child and this is the reason for the Victorian legislation . It wasn't an American Pit Bull Terrier and the Victorian Legislation was already in existence . The facts should be clearer in the opening paragraph of the article . I can not quote directly due to the format of the on line zine.

Height Restriction For Dogs In Beijing Being Enforced.
huck house replied to Kirislin's topic in In The News
'Bad laws are the worst sort of tyranny ' ... There are a multitude of reasons why this ^^^way of thinking and analogy is so wrong . Luckily , many will not capitulate to this disgusting betrayal of the canine species. -
Pretty! Searching domain by ticking pet friendly gives lots of results. Or else call real estate agents. not really hard. Really quite hard in my experience actually . We had to board our dogs and cat for 8 nights at a cost of $985 whilst in the process of finding a pet friendly rental.

Awesome ! I think Channel seven news will cover it tonight .The VCAT judge loved dogs and refers to his own during the hearing . Thank Dog !!

Other owners may have had a clue ... And were rightly too frightened to alert the council .

Dogs On Trial DOT Victoria MONDAY ROUND UP, WHAT'S HAPPENING KERSER. His application for Appeal was lodged last week in the Supreme Court of Victoria, and we have been told there is a directions hearing next week in Supreme Court. We don't think a decision is expected, as it has been stated that it is a directions hearing. From Google, "A directions hearing is a brief hearing in front of a judge. It is a chance for the judge to discuss the progress of the appeal and give ‘directions’ to the parties. " Sorry we can't give any more info on this, but this is all we know at the moment. We will update when we hear any news. ROCKET AND DOUGIE. Both have now completed their VCAT hearings, and all we can do now is wait for the decisions. Hopefully they will both get the right decision this time, and will be going home shortly. Once again, we will update when we hear any news on these two decisions. Wishing both Dougie and Rocket, together with their owners all the best. Love and hugs from all of us, as this must be a terribly anxious time for all of them. KERSER AND ROCKET are now both entered in a Pets of the Year competition. We will post the links for you to vote for them. It would be wonderful to see them take the top 2 positions in the comp. You can vote for both of them, and you can vote every day. Please support them both. ROCKET'S owner has kindly offered to help ForDogsSake Australia if he should win. From Rocket's page, "We Would love Rocket to Win & We Would Love for FOR DOGS SAKE AUSTRALIA TO BE OUR CHARITY OF CHOICE TO WIN $5000 IN CASH TO HELP OTHER DOGS LIKE ROCKET." Thank you so much Arthur, that is a lovely thing to do. After this post, we will post up the links to Rocket and to Kerser in the Pets of the year competition, and will continue to do this each day to remind people to vote. It does state that to be considered for a prize, a pet only needs to gain 10 votes, however, it is good to show with our votes, the popularity and support for these lovely dogs and their owners. Keep up the great work everyone. STICKERS. Part of our sticker order is ready, and will be collected shortly. We will then commence sending out the orders. The rest of our order will be finished next week. Sorry for the delay, but all will be sorted shortly, and thank you for your patience. EMAILS to Members of Parliament, Councils and RSPCA. We will over the next few days re post the lists of email addresses, and some ideas of what you might like to send to the recipients. Some have answered your emails, and we think this is slightly promising. At least, they are all now aware just how much support is gathering against this BSL. Spreading the word to others is also important. A lot of the public have no idea what is happening, and we have found once they are aware of this, they are then joining us. Please keep up the pressure with the emails, and keep telling people what is going on. We believe some questions have been listed in Parliament to be asked at a future date regarding this law, so this should be a good thing. There needs to be discussion and NOT just dismissal of our concerns, as we have seen in the media by the current Minister, Mr Walsh. We were a democracy last time I looked! Thanks to the MPs who are interested and who are willing to listen and ask questions. Please remember to be polite when emailing. Once again, thank you to everyone who has donated to us. You are great and your money will go directly to pay the legal costs to fight for all the dogs we have helped and help in the future. We have also had a lot of merchandise donated by supporters for our stalls which is fantastic, and we thank our supporters for all the hard work they put in with helping us. This is a group effort, and we all need to stick together to ensure our voice is heard. And thank you to all the other anti BSL pages on facebook who have been so wonderful in supporting us, giving donations, and sharing our posts. Don't forget to participate in the Anti BSL Global Protest that is being held in all states, and all over the world. The Anti BSL Peaceful Protest Victoria 2013 (Global Rally) is shaping up well I believe. Thanks Justin and Nas for the updates. Looking forward to seeing you all there on the 13th July. Finally, regarding councils. We know not all councils are equal. Some are particularly nasty, and some show common sense and decency. We know there are some great council workers out there who do not agree with this legislation. I am sure they find this legislation very difficult to work with. Now is the time for these decent council workers to speak up about the failings of these laws. We do understand some may be hesitant to speak out due to repercussions in the work place. However, we urge these decent human beings, council employees, to speak out and let their feelings and thoughts be known to the Victorian Government and their local MPs. We know, this legislation is not beneficial to community safety, and it certainly is not in favour of animal welfare. The human toll is huge on the owners of targeted dogs, but it must also take it's toll on those council workers who are good people, and just want to see the community safe, and don't want to see good dogs sent to their death. Please speak up. There are viable alternatives. The government is aware of this. If anything has been missed here, please let us know. I think that is all for this Monday update. Keep up the good work everyone. Don't ever give up. and........ SEND ROCKET, DOUGIE AND KERSER HOME TO THEIR FAMILIES.Timeline Photos · Monday at 10:18pm · View Full Size · Report Photo

Our 2 dogs and cat are booked in to The Pets Hotel at Port Melbourne for 8 nights due to our present housing crisis . We have had the dogs for two years , the cat for 18 months . They are all rescues and we are worried they will think they are being dumped by us too ! The kennel says we can visit and take the dogs out everyday . Will the animals understand it's not forever?! Has anyone used The Pets Hotel ? Thanks

Again , thanks for the replies. We were pretty impressed with our dogs listening to us and not being keen on fighting.Peanut likes to play and is polite in asking . These Stags are not family dogs . They are used for hunting and guarding. We don't think any dog who is aggressive or has no bite inhibition should be off lead at all in any public space. We are so lucky peanut is not dead.BigDaz . Our dogs have never had an off lead incident like this nor have they rushed any on lead dogs . Piss away .

Thanks for the replies .

Peanut was bitten on the chest and neck . The wounds were quite deep . To clean wounds and sew up muscle and soft tissue cost just under $1000 . We are really happy with the care, understand the cost and are just glad it wasn't worse . The altercation occurred on a public reserve along a creek behind an industrial estate . We have exercised our two dogs off lead there for over a year and a half and only ever met one other party with three whippets. Being the case of a perfect storm last week , two staghounds who guard the trucks at the chicken processor were out .. We heard a guy yelling and then saw our two dogs and his two charging each other. The dogs were fighting one on one and being more concerned about Teddy our boy bully it took a minute to realise Peanut was the one in trouble . The dog had her on her back with two teeth in the top of her neck and two in her chest. The dogs owner had hold of the dogs collar while Matt pryed the dogs mouth open (yes , he got a puncture to the palm , but what are you going to do ?). We all got our dogs under effective control , he had no leads , so he held the collar of the biter and the other dog under voice control . He is a worker at the chicken factory who brings his hunting dogs to work on rotation . We have seen them and two others many times behind the fence barking and our dogs ignore them . He he did ask if our dog was ok, and what sex she was . We thought she was okish and just wanted to get the dogs home ( teddys ear and head were punctured and very bloody ) we told him that whippys play here too and don't think he will let them out again .I feel responsible for the predicament my dogs ended up in and played a numbers game in having the perfect dog spot for so long . Do I have the right to ask the dogs owner for money ?Though we were worried about the fallout , our dogs seem fine .. Bounce back bullies .

The Doll Used In The Dog Temperament Test ?

The doll was used more as a measure of sociability rather than an indicator of aggression in a recent temperament test my dog did . -
The Doll Used In The Dog Temperament Test ?
huck house replied to Christina's topic in General Dog Discussion
Animal aggression can become human aggression if the dogs consider the human as prey. It can happen. It has happened. Who can forget this one: Death of Tyra Kuehne When not well socialised and used for this kind of hunting, dogs may confuse children with prey. I know that many pig hunting dogs are family dogs but the assumption that all such dogs are safe with children could be a dangerous one. The little girl went into the backyard of the dogs with a dead chicken to give them . In this case are many more pertinent factors relating to a pack of dogs than the purpose for what they were bred .?Toddlers confuse many breeds of dogs -
http://artnik.weebly.com/the-dogs.htmlOur white bully's desexing tattoo stands right out in the middle of his beautiful pink bunny ear. It annoys me. They should have done the tat on his inner thigh even though it is obvious he has no testicles.

Call For Participants: Canine Temperament Testing
huck house replied to Ruin Maniac's topic in General Dog Discussion
We took one of our dogs for the temp test about a month ago .. It was such an interesting exercise having to fill out a lengthy questionnaire about our perception of him and then getting to hear how he reacted to all the stimuli and what his heart rate was. it was also quite illuminating about some aspects of our dog We were at the campus well over two and half hours and left feeling positive about the possibilities of studies like these and have no doubts about the credibility and intentions of the research . They are testing until May so we are definitely taking our other dog..
