Not sure about that ..but different! here last week , the night of a thunderstorm ..she went missing.we have NEVER EVER had a pup/dog disappear . I walked & drove ... whistled & called - took the other dogs out to make noise ...but with hundreds and hundreds of acres .. it was an impossible task .. everyone was on the lookout - no sightings. So - we presumed she had had an accident and been killed ... (even April Pig was suspect at one stage , as the pups have tried to get into her pen before) Exactly 48 hours later , as I was outside chopping up a goat to feed the dogs , I felt a scratch on my leg ..and here was little Possum - VERY tucked in & tired looking. She drank & drank (odd , cos we'd had big rain & there were puddles everywhere I could see) & ate about half a goat then slept for ages , so we have no idea where she'd been, or what she'd been doing . I surmised she had been scared by the storm .. and , instead of heading for a kennel/verandah ..had run the other way . She MAY have then stuck with the sheep, perhaps ? No idea. She is getting the benefit of the doubt, as she found her way home again ..not a bad effort for a 4 mth old who must have been more than a few of km away at least..and she is now being 'debriefed' and flooded with training /being taught that humans are 'god' ..in the hope of both increasing a bond, and her desire to please, and her confidence . This afternoon we went out for a while - with her on a long line- first time . She was great , and ended up being fairly responsive. She is much like her great grandma .. who we 'rescued' . She was a bit of a 'street kid ' .. not much respect/dependence on humans. SO- as possum shows such an interest in working sheep - we will persist . :) her days of free running are over ... for now anyhow - will keep you posted.

He certainly is :laugh: He grew into his ears and got so much pigment. He is only just starting to fill out now. Yeap, some take a while to fill out, the litter before Gus one of the girls took 2 years to fill out and I think the same is going to happen with Gus, his a late bloomer.

haha thanks, his pretty darn cute, I love seeing puppy Vs Adolescence Vs Adult photos so many changes go on... and I think about my 16 year old brother and how much of a bratt he is now and Gus was/is probably going through similar hormonal and physical changes (obviously without all the peer pressure) but you dont notice it on a day to day basis.

I was just flicking through the photos of when I brought Gus home and it has been 9 months he is 12 months in August. Its amazing how much they change!! in such a short period of time, was wondering if anyone would like to share their before and after pics? 9 Weeks 8 Months 11 Months

Dallys are not stupid, they just outsmart most people Lots of people also are pretty amazed that we walk a red nose and a spotty dog together comments that often fly are: Do they get along - Of Course they do, they are pretty much inseparable But arnt you scared she will kill him - No, she has very high tolerance to annoying puppies! Do you have to keep her locked up - No, she likes to play tug and sun bake, we have no need Ow but one day she will turn on you - Highly unlikely, tummy scratches are her weakness

Micro pigs are VERY cute!

As she has had all her vaccines I would join up to a proper club because classes run by vet clinics are a) expensive b) their training styles are limited So have a look around at obedience clubs near you, the training thread may have a few good ones as well so have a look there. :) There is usually a once a year joining fee than a $3-$5 class/ground fee when you attend.

I generally dont like children patting Gus, not because he isnt friendly but because I havent got control of his jumping up yet so he would knock over a small child..... if he isnt to excited I will get the children to ask him to sit first and tell them to approach him slowly.... but usually I just get them to pat Nala instead because she is excellent with children and very calm virtually bomb proof
