  1. This is quite old but yea this guy is awesome!
  2. its pretty well made, and has double layering... on further inspection it may have stuffing but i cant be sure until one of them rips the thing open!.
  3. Gus Loved it, he was playing with it in the car on the way to show training last night and has not made a tear in it yet!..... I wouldn’t trust it with two dogs, its not indestructible... but I haven’t tried letting one loose with both of them... they are to cute to part with just yet so I will report damage when its done hahah :)
  4. No where in Australia should be distributing Kong Cozies... I called Kong Company and asked them themselves, they are trilling them in the US before they start to distribute here, there may be similar toys but I wanted these ones.
  5. wow look at those paws!! hahah they look cool
  6. Cute! How are they different from any other toy though, are they just tougher? I would have no clue, I haven't read the label in depth just yet... I just stumbled across them and thought they were the cutest thing out!.... on the label it does say not a chew toy :S but is sure feels and looks like a chew toy... I also dont think it has stuffing the build and make is very sturdy and is not flimsy.... also has a squeaker in the tummy and the ears and tails are a rustle material so there is lots of interaction with it.... quite a few different textures the ears from what i felt were hard on the inside but covered with the soft material.... I will give one to Gus tonight and see how long it lasts.
  7. Fair enough if the dog jumps into the cat's garden and kills the cat. Not fair if the cat jumps into the dog's garden (after spending a couple of weeks annoying the dog from the top of the fence). Cat owner should have kept its cat indoors/in its property.... it works both ways. cats should not be out roaming the streets, just as much as dogs shouldnt.
  8. Have you been to the natural vet in Russell Lea? All Natural Vet Care, I think they are called. I've not been there but heard good things about them for treatment of illnesses that no traditional vets could help with. No I havent actually, I usually just go to Drummoyne or Croydon... the man at Croydon is pretty good but he did the same thing as Drummoyne only he added the food allergy trial
  9. I have been to a few regular vets, they all prescribe the same broad spectrum anti biotic, they do skin swabs and nothing comes up, he has no fleas, I check him regularly and he is fled regularly and its winter, there is never any infection its just an abundance of welts all over his body, not under his tummy or head/face just back sides and sometimes on his thighs A vet did recommend a diet of chicken and rice, we did do that and there was no change.... that tea is the ONLY thing we have tried that has worked over night...... but I will not see a vet again about this issue because they have all provided no help and show clear signs of not knowing themselves what to do, they un and aaa and take swaps again then charge me $75 for it.....and they just asked for a vet reference to get a medical history, Its so hard to find a helpful vet sometimes who doesnt just want to milk you.
  10. he is 12 months at the end of this month, and its not fleas haha we ruled that out, M_B do you know a good dermatologist in Sydney? Dr Linda Vogelnest is great- works for sydney university but there are quite a few others around as well that are great too!! lol they are expensive! man i should have got pet insurance! LOL- yes exy but after seeing someone spend $600 in a few months at their regular vet to try and treat skin allergies that a specialist managed to control after two visits I always recommend them sooner rather than later if your not getting a speedy resolution to the problem because all those little consults add up pretty quickly. This is true, consult $214.50, 3 swabs add $72.60 blood tests add $346.50 I may have to save a few pays hahaha I made the apointment for a month from now :S haha bring 1k with me just to be safe  O well once I know whats causing it then that willbe it I hope.... man this puppy is expensive!! none of his litter mates have these issues!

  13. It is definitely not recommended for giant breeds. I have never come across a vet who would recommend desexing of a giant breed. To the OP - I'd ring the council - without giving them your details - and say my vet recommends I should only get the dog desexed at 6 months (or whenever). In my council, you pay a higher fee for registering an undesexed dog, but so be it. +1 was just going to say the age is reflective of the breed, larger breeds tend to benefit much more from being desexed later in life, there is much growth and development that can be compromised otherwise. But NSW is 6 months and if they are entire is $150 if i remember correctly.
  14. Aww ok. I would love some small guys to come and play with my pint-sized pugs! When do you come back W Sibs, AND WHY HAVE I NEVER SEEN YOU THERE!! lol im there very saturday... and usually there all summer :)... Monash is EXCELLENT in the mornings now with the installation of the fence!! even though im pretty sure its not a dog park but its very appropriate.
  15. Ow very cute!! man I was so paranoid up until about 4 months ago.... now he hovers everything and I dont care unless its pork meat, lamb or beef then we are in trouble!!
  16. Lumps are gone this morning thank god for Calendula Tea!!, I have brewed a bucket up for drinking water next to their normal water... hopefully that might make him less prone to a huge break out
  17. As soon as I saw it, I brewed up a tea straight away and have been sponging him / making him drink it since i saw them... he has been on Artemis and chicken wings. Is there any pollen that comes out this time of year? The other thing I can think of is salt water from the beach? we were at the beach on the weekend and its seem to have gotten worse since then. For a good 3 months though his been clear
  18. THESE STUPID LUMPS ARE BACK!!!!! flea treatment is up, food has been going excellent, noticed it 2 days ago it was very light, saw it today its the worst I've seen it!! what the hell could it be.
  19. Hmm - dont know much about lilly pilly and can't find anything obvious in a quick search. All that I have found is that the fruit is a common bush food and apparently makes nice jam. I can't find anything that specifies cooking it first or any other treatment which is often necessary to destroy toxic compounds. From what I have found it seems to be perfectly safe for humans and frugivores to eat. For dogs.....well... there are a few fruits/seeds/blubs which humans can eat that are extremely toxic to dogs or cats. Personally if they were my dogs I'd be dissuading them from eating it. I have a healthy respect for what plants are capable of and would rather it not be my animals that are the first in any anecdotal study on the species specific toxicity of lilly pilly. I would definitely not be letting him eat any unripe fruit. The plant vigourously defends expensive parts (ie new growth or reproductive parts) this is why unripe fruit often tastes revolting. Once the seeds are fully developed then the plant attracts dispersal agents by making the fruit sugary and brightly coloured...the theory goes that animals that see in colour do so to be able to identify ripe fruit. How used do you feel now!!! :) we have a huge lily pilly tree
  20. Ahh the thread that ended up with people thinking I wanted an attack dog because I was scared of the world! After a bit of a reality check and some serious consideration of many facts, we decided on an Akita puppy. A higher trainability and not such a highly tuned guardian breed, as well as many other things. She has been the most wonderful pup and is just a perfect fit for us. I was very proud on our last night of puppy school when the vet nurse, dog training lady with 30+ years experience said she has been amazed by Tikas behaviour over the weeks and it will be very special if she continues as she is. She said this because many Akitas that come through the clinic are more of the, hmmm perhaps 'typical' akita? That express some aggression and stubornness. I suppose this may be because many local akitas have come from one or two BYB who sell their akitas to anyone who will pay up! Regardless of if the person is prepared to train and work with the pup or not. The praise came out of no where and I was so happy to hear we are doing the right things with her and are on the right track. Very very happy with our gorgeous Tika :) I met an Akita on the weekend... he was amazing, but I would assume training would need to be strict with an Akita? they seem very strong willed.
  21. I used to have a problem with family members feeding my dog, until it got to a really bad point and Gus was covered in really bad welts once they saw this and I made sure they knew he had to be rushed to the vets to get an antihistamine injection, and told them the next person to feed him will be paying the vet bill, I haven’t had a problem since.... I think just a warning not to feed the dog he gets really sick might do the trick?
  22. I know I don't have to worry about my dogs being scooped up by the ranger mis-identified as Pitbulls so that bit of research I did right :D Nice. Way to dodge the real issues. I think I'll leave this thread before I call someone something that will get me banned.
