  1. I didn't notice it was a problem up until about 3 months ago.... i thought it was gangly puppy with a mixture of his balls had dropped, but on closer inspection and time watching it, it looked like his leg hyper extend and kicked out a little when he walked....but then i got someone to have a look at him walk and they confirmed my suspicion that it was not normal so i went to the ciro.... Since then iv been trying to watch it and teach him not to run because every time now without fail he will slide but i have little success when he is outdoors. I am in gladesville but Im willing to travel around Sydney
  2. His been on Slow growing diet since i got him, his breeder had him on Proplan sensitive large breed but i did change it 6 months ago to artemis (because his skin was doing funny things and we havent had a major skin problem since), so he gets 1.5 cups artemis with 1tbs flaxseed oil and plain yoghurt if his lucky of the morning and 1 frame or chicken wings for dinner some nights he might get some veg with it if we have left over steamed brocli and or sweet spud or something (but not often). Can you recommend a specialist??

  4. I said that, I told you you can not guarentee its height, coat or ANYTHING so whatever image you have in your head forget about it...... i had tears swell up in my eyes because last christmas they got the same mut for 4 weeks before that they had a jack russle for 2 weeks it makes me sooooo god damn mad!! but atleast I will be more involved with this one i.e if she doesnt want it any more ILL find it a home....bloody morons
  5. I am very sure a thread has been started about this but I can not for the life of me find it, I'm sure some kind of a list was compiled as to what to ask a breeder before making the decision to purchase from them. My aunty is getting a dog and it is a mutt and I have talked myself blue trying to convince her otherwise to purchase something else, but no luck WHAT so ever and im sick of talking myself blue... so to make sure she is getting the right information with the options she has I want to give her a list of things she should know.... also what health tests are required for labs and poodles?? (I think we can all guess what mutt is on the agenda here)..... replied would be appreciated THANK YOU!! :) P.S how freaking annoying is it when family members go against all your ethical beliefs re dogs... OMG its so hard not to rip their head off. Hopefully if the "breeder" cant answer any of the questions she will think twice
  6. We saw Gary Barnsley, I think he is excellent in his feild him and his son deal with greyhounds and what he did was fabulous but maybe i need to go back and see him as well to see if there is anything else we can do. I know persepnone!!, he has grown up way too fast and his this big mature handsome dalmatian with a sly personality
  7. Will do, my poor spotted man, its never ending he just gets into so much mischief! here is a photo of his stronger side :) hahah... but on the serious note i think crating during the day until his walking/running normally i think will be needed
  8. Well it does concern me greatly, i just hope there is no long term damage.
  9. He is 1 year old . Edited, I thought I read somewhere that Gus was 12 months old, now I can't find it, so maybe I was imagining things 30 August he was 12 months, his now 14 months ( time flys)
  10. I was told his ligaments were loose, and at 18 months they should start to correct themselves, but I honestly think crating him during the day will end up being my only option because he runs like a nut all day regardless of anyone being in the back yard.... and he can not stop himself he tried to stop and his back legs will slide, I know its not normal as I havent seen a dog this young walk like that.... no one else in his litter has it that i know of,I'll take him to the vet this weekend and see what they say any recommendations of a vet who would be able to give me some sound advise? TSD, I check Gus's urine regularly if vit c will help strengthen his ligaments then i'm willing to give it a try, but I'll see what a vet says before i do anything. @persephone the excersice he gets is 30 minutes of walking on lead and about 20 off lead at the park(twice a day).... 7 times out of 10 there is other dogs at the park... when there is no one at the park he will still just run, he has a real love of sprinting for as long as he can. The rest of the time he is up stairs with me laying down chewing and destroying toys, he does have a sliight arch in his lower back that does look a little uncomfortable and he is not a fan of anyone toughing his lower back, he turns around and smiles...... he comes from very good lines, none of these issues are in his gene pool neither is the skin problems he gets so it must be environmental.
  11. how much is a massive dose? I gave a Whippet six 1000 IU tablets twice a day till the condition improved. You can not overdose so I have been told. They only pee out what they don't use. excellent, I will be doing this as of tonight, the poor boy is such a cluts, he runs to meet me of an evening and his back legs just give, he used to have such a strong stance.
  12. Long story short, due to Gus running around like a spastic up and down stairs and even in the back yard he now has funny back legs they hyper extend and the ligaments are lose, I have seen a ciro about it and he has said its not perminant damage but stairs are out of the questions and so is any other crazy running around....his legs dont seem to be improving, is there anything I can give him to help with the strengthening of the muscles and ligaments? and something that works and people have tried or recommend.... thank you :)
  13. Gus and Nala have not done this for a while but it was a regular hit when he was younger.... he always and still does though contantly lick her muzzle
  14. Before we got control over Gus's pulling there were multiple times when we would be on a walk and he would pull at the wrong time and i would fall in a hole or twist my ankle but the worst was when I was all tangled up and he decided to run down the stairs.... I ripped all the underneath part of my toes as my feet got caught onthe steps.
  15. I could T something up, let me know what shows your planning to enter and ill see if I can get up there
  16. Gus is a Dalmatian currently is junior puppy class I am able to drop him off at the show or if they the person has room for another dog I will drop him off at their place? showing only once a month and pretty much around sydney
  17. I would really love for Gus to be in the ring a little more, he has so much potential but I just do not have the time to go to shows, I will be quitting my full time job soon which means I will need to pick up weekend work, is there anyone willing to show Gus for me? I am more than happy to negotiate a payment arrangement of some sort....
  18. here too, how freaking cute are they!!!!
  19. Whatever it is, I would like to know....wish I had a live in behaviourist!! would be interesting to see their opinion on how my dogs interact...... im sure in general there is a lot I miss interpret.
  20. Its Nala that reacts, Gus has no problem... but on both occasions its like she doesnt know who he is for a few hours, gets really nervious about his presents, starts to arc up....I guess gus forgets all sorts of manners because its her, the female he licks the face of 24 hours a day hahah...hopefully when she is all healed up she isnt so nervious I think you guys are right re: pain and her being on edge and not bothered for puppy nonsense.
  21. I get worried whenever something like this happens, Nala gets so darn snappy and Gus unsure... she has never been crated before up until this point so I didnt think she would be terriorial over it, its actually his crate hahah, I guess once her leg is all healed up and a month has passes we can try through the fence or something.
  22. When Gus was a pup we went to Bali for 2 weeks, Gus and Nala were separated, when they were reunited it was a far from easy sailing event..... we put it down to "he was a pup, they havent been together for long enough"..... Nala has now had hear knee operated on, Gus and Nala are with each other all day every day and have been since we brought Gus home, but we have had to separate them due to her being crated all day..... they havent seen eachother for 1.5 weeks (because she gets too excited and runs around)... Gus just sneaked uo stairs and started sniffing the crate... and was excited to see her.... she was far from impressed and started growling...
