  1. Yea that's too young to try train a pup. Such a shame, pity mum doesn't take the dog with and go walk whilst waiting for kids.
  2. Is it possible that some toy may make him more fun to play with so the kids get more interested in him? Just a wild idea could you help the kids clicker train him? Kids love making Jake do tricks. Maybe if he had some fun high fives or roll over she might be more attractive to the kids.
  3. I'm sure you and Zig will put a smile on that big boofy head. Sadly Jakes blood tests came back completely normal, so he is just a fruit loop. I got the full blood test done so I'm glad to know despite his massive peanut butter intake he has low cholesterol and sodium.
  4. We have an extended family member who acquires various cute animals. I've helped a few but her latest are rats. So not going there. Just annoys me so much because her parents have the attitude that it's "only" a bird/rabbit or guinea pig.
  5. She's lovely, is she over her health issues. You must be becoming a staffy training expert.
  6. That's what I would struggle with the most. Having a dog in a pound environment for so long. If the dog still has a good temperament it must be an angel. It must be hell on the young owner. Thanks for the link, liked and shared.
  7. You'd probably just get her used to the basketball and the kid will take up trumpet. I wonder why she's so wired for noise? I guess it's just her thing like dogs are Jakes. Tonight the naughty cockatiel flew and landed on him while he was fast asleep. He startled and looked panicked but no attempt to go for her. He was climbing on a pile of logs and they started shifting and he just stood on one and waited for them to stop moving. Except for dogs he is so bombproof. Why Jake, why?
  8. Can't find the Facebook page. Must be a wealthy council if this is the best use of their money. I'd be spewing if my council spent my rates money this way.
  9. I'm sorry. It's so annoying when you get a glimpse of what could be isn't it? I wonder if a running water feature might help?
  10. A head banging crestie...Supercool????????
  11. Good on you. I have huge respect for people who can foster. Now you have room for the next????.
  12. A friend was taking their GSD for his first obedience competition. Dog had been polished and groomed and was all ready to make them proud. Just before entering the ring her Hubby noticed a dingleberry on the dogs rear and thought if he just casually trapped it with his foot when the dog was sitting it would pull off and no one would notice. Turns out it was just the beginning of a stocking and as the dog walked off most of a leg of pantyhose gradually unfurled out the rear.
  13. Lucky you getting to sleep in. I was reading Dr jean Dodds web page last night as I'm going to get Jakes thyroid test done again. I thought of Stella because apparently seizures and hyperactivity are also symptoms of hypothyroidism. Jake has now added bald patches, weight gain and night terrors to his repertoire.
  14. There's so much in that picture, tells a story on it's own.
  15. I'm not that cat savvy but is that cat really huge or are those small dogs? Looks like a real character.
  16. Beautiful colours and quite a contrast between the tension between the one dog and the cattle and then Mr Cool grinning into the camera. Lovely.
  17. Any one particular thing you would attribute it too. That sounds like a big turn around. Well done.
  18. That's such a relief. It's been driving me nuts trying to change beddings etc. Thanks.
  19. That's so interesting about the corn chip smell, mines also fear aggressive and I notice and like that smell! We had a lot of problems with fungal infections, he finally ended up at SASH and they gave him a course of Nizoral, I think it was for about a month. Since then he's been much easier to keep under control. I find any fat in his diet makes him worse, one piece of fatty sausage and his ears are itchy. I can't give him beef bones but he's ok with lamb shank bones. I cut most of the meat off and bake it for his dinner as it can be quite fatty. Chewing is very relaxing for him too. I feed him salmon mostly and a bit of lean lamb or chicken and the royal canin frenchie food (but that's going to change to weigh control). I tried lots of different brands but he would get upset stomach or itchy . There's no perfect kibble but there should be one that suits your dog. I have to switch proteins every few days and no rice at all. It's a bit of a juggle but you get to recognize the signs of impending itchiness and I can tell if someone's been sharing contraband with the poor dog.
  20. Yep, I smile every time I see it. It oozes fun and tickles.
  21. He's so great, I still think of that photo of him sitting with his buddy on the couch laughing. A real little character I'm so glad he's doing well.
  22. The first time he did it we bought him in and treated him with everything, anti fungal and antibiotics, (clavulox, doxycycline and Terramycin) and after a few weeks it finally got better. Then we found it just recurrs. They did all get coryza when they were youngsters, he also introduced himself to the dog feet first so I wonder if he actually has some physical lung scarring from that encounter? Possibly it gets irritated by fresh sawdust. I only noticed it after his run in with the dog, he had bruising but no punctures to his chest. He's had it for about two years, particularly in drier weather. It doesn't seen to affect him otherwise and the vets have done a bunch of tests which all showed nothing, but scarring from his dog fight might explain it. He's not very good at calculating the odds of a 1,5 kg rooster beating up a 25kg dog.
  23. That's a shame, a bit far from me otherwise I could have taken the little girls. My rooster it appears might be allergic to sawdust shavings. He wheezes like an asthmatic so that might be a problem for dogs too. I use ivermectin on them every three months and it's excellent. I hope it all comes good and you get a bit if a break.
  24. You are having a rough time Rascal. Where are you and what breed are the little ones?
  25. Have you tried training Del when she's wound up? The rough approach that's worked with Jake is obedience around dogs, he doesn't have to like them just has to listen to me. At home he has an " okay when I feel like it attitude," whilst at training he channels his inner border collie and is a whole lot more responsive. There is a house that had about 4 really loud rude dogs that would really get him going so I stopped walking that way. Then I decided they were a good training distraction and would walk near enough to wind him up and get some good training. The dogs have now moved so today I trained on their side of the road. After about a minute of fussing and leaping around I got some super dog training. He was so focused that I actually had him going up, sit and down just by mouthing the words with no sound. Maybe she would be the same? I just had to calmly but firmly ride out that first bit and then he was great.
