  1. Grosser oh I hAve grosser.... when my son was about 18 months he was running around nudie in the backyard and decided to take a dump. Dog whipped in and slurped it up, cannot get the moment out my head.
  2. Oh my, having a small panic attack looking at dobershark. Great pics though.
  3. Awesome power in second last pic and I love how the black dog is looking at him he has such a friendly, happy face. Lovely to be able to see details that you miss in real time. I got Frankie the rooster in on the action you can tell he's moving his giblets are swinging, and a couple more ducks. Ducks are a gimme since all eight "babies" are refusing to be wild and vacate the pool. My link My link My link
  4. I have had Saaba envy but now Jake has a Saaba. We've switched trainers to a nearby trainer (with Steve's understanding) since Jake has started being able to see some dogs I wanted to make sure I didn't make mistakes. Vicki is only a twenty minute drive away so we can go see her once a week . This was our second time seeing Chilli her border collie, it's so awesome to see him in action he just gives Jake all the calming signals and doesn't show the tiniest bit of startle or unhappiness. Now that's good training. Last week we just practiced walking towards him and getting Jake to look away for a treat. With Vicki's excellent timing Jake very quickly learned to look away for a treat, I tend to overpay Jake and talk to much and this confuses him, he remembered all week and has looked at me for approaching people and also on our practice friend dogs. Today we worked on trying to turn him away smoothly, he can look at dogs but when you try turn him and walk away he goes off planet. This will be a useful skill because dogs walking towards us are a huge problem and when we try get away he often needs to be dragged away barking so a nice smooth exit will be a lovely skill.
  5. yay more Frenchie pics, cannot get enough. He is gorgeous!!!
  6. When my kids were young I read about these funny little things we do and they were called "loving rituals". When my work is done, dinner cooked table cleared and it's time to sit down I say to Jake "couch time" we race through the house and leap onto the couch and squish onto the same cushion. He ferrets around and always ends up snuggled in my armpit.
  7. My link My link Ok hopefully this works had to enlist teenager to post links. Have spent time pursuing birds, haven't done that since my student days and then we had to wait 2 weeks to get paper photos developed!!
  8. That sounds like a really tough situation, has he ever seemed to click with anyone else. Seems others have found homes where the dog fits, personally I don't like cats or the beach and you'd need to tether me in a camp ground but I have my hands full.
  9. nah mine are fireproof. I have days where I look at mine ( reactive) and wonder why I took him on. He inflicted some damage on one of my chickens and I found it very hard to look at him the same but luckily the chook recovered and he sort of helped the little chook who is my absolute favourite when she was attacked by neighbouring dog. Probably unintentionally because he was going to chase the dog whether it had the chook or not but that helped his image in my eyes a lot. I have only had him since March and it's been a bumpy ride so I can't say bonded then unbonded more just a wavering attachment.
  10. Hey Bronsoon I'll just add that it can seem overwhelming but you just have to keep going and then one day little bits start making sense. Not everything works for all dogs but if you work with your dog a lot you learn about your own dog and start to figure out how he learns and what will work with him. He's probably just as confused as you. The need to excercise without seeing other dogs is a big problem. I have used office parks on the weekend, next to the highway because there are cars to shield your dog from seeing other dogs and pretty much just think of unpleasant places to walk a dog and go there. Late night is when other reactive dogs come out, not a good time. I have also run him around shopping center carparks at odd times... welcome to the world of crazy! Council bin day is a bonus, can walk bin to bin.
  11. No such thing as "just Frenchie shots" gorgeous and hilarious!!

  13. Mine was separated in the pound from his friend, yes I feel sad for him I believe he misses her. I think his family had a white car, for the first few months he'd always stop and go to the back door of any white car. He stops at the primary school up the road and appears to search through the kids through the fence, so I think kids were around. No leash manners and shockingly dog aggressive so I'm guessing not walked a lot. Yep I am one if those owners who took on a lot more dog than I knew I was getting. A huge learning curve but that's life!! I don't regret it and am learning so much about dogs and myself. I even know maremmas are not giant hairy labs!!!
  14. Report report. I have a reactive dog and was rushed by an extremely large dog this morning. The owner stood at her mailbox telling me to calm down he was being friendly. Luckily 2 neighbours came to help and put their bodies between , even with 3 of us it was hard to keep him from getting round to my hysterical dog. If there was a fight my dog is at risk because of their slack attitude. This attitude is going to get not only their dog but someone else's dog in trouble. Dangerous dogs are often dogs that have not been correctly managed by their owners, this ones been declared and his owners haven't changed. If they don't micromanage their dog then it will do it again. Shame for the dog but look after the next victims,
  15. I'm sorry for you seems no good deed goes unpunished. I have recently started giving my guy frozen kongs stuffed with mince. takes him a while and then he's really relaxed after. Could you give each dog one?
  16. Snook what's your secret your photos have amazing focus, can see every tooth in the puppy crack photo. I find it a compelling photo, should be scary because if the teeth but the eyes make it so adorable. Frodos mum I have this image of your garden just being full of leaping frenchies, too cute. Ping the jacarandas on trampoline are beautiful, very clever idea. I will post, I have a picture of a turkey in my head.... just trying to convince turkey it's a good idea.
  17. No it's not your "fault". Clearly you've managed to raise fine dogs before, you just weren't equipped to deal with the curve ball that is Scooter. Think how many people's kids go bad, not the parents fault. You're trying and that's important.
  18. If you think of anything let me know then we can both use it  I had someone yell "horsie" as they went past us riding. My friend, faster than I, pointed and yelled back in same tone" Car, with idiot"... I can never think of things like that. Still my last dog was a mix and people would always stop to ask what he was. Lots of light conversations followed. Jakes a bit intimidating but for the first time a young girl came up and patted him last week, made me realise I miss the little chats I used to have walking.
  19. That's what it is.... writing that on my wish list. Gorgeous
  20. I do use a prong, under professional guidance and have used a check chain. Correctly fitted the prong can only tighten to a certain amount, it's not the same as a check that can continue tightening so I believe is more idiot proof. You can thoroughly pinch with it but it won't move around and won't strangle the dog. However I had a stranger admire it the other day, he thought it looked"cool" and wanted to get one. Needless to say I told him it was prescription only through a behaviorist. My dogs alternative is permanent confinement to the yard.
  21. I had a read over a while back, had to chuckle at how naive I was. It's a good record though and useful to follow each dog. Reckon between us all we must have tried most things. You're very brave to dog sit Snook, hopefully a month of dog on tap will make him super dog.
  22. Thanks for the frozen kong tip I can thoroughly recommend them, Jake holds them between his paws and sucks on them, cute but annoying noise. It also seems to have inspired him to chew on his hide bones that he has so far ignored. He will sleep during the day but only if I sit with him, if I'm working he will doze but his separation anxiety means he will wake if I get up. Velcro dog goes everywhere with me ! As soon as I settle after dinner he's lights out.
  23. Hey Panzer, your doggie sounds gorgeous. My old man used to take socks or underwear to his bed when he first came from the pound, I think he was just nesting. I look forward to hearing how you train agility, lots of pics please.
  24. Jake said hello to a dog today!!!! There's a lovely calm lab up the road, she never makes a sound just looks at us. Unfortunately her responsible owners normally keep her in the back yard and then there's the yappy terrier next door to deal with but she was out front yesterday. We walked in a square across the road from her, then crossed the road and walked in front of her. Jakes brain was short circuiting so he started doing his tricks and some how ended up on his back shunting himself towards her. I stopped him about a meter from her and then some other dogs came along so we left. Early this morning she was out front again so we started walking about and same thing, he drops onto his belly and crawls over, I just let him go over, ready to haul him in if necessary but he got to the gate, turned on his side and waved his paw at her. He was being a big drafty rolling around and talking. She looked a bit confused and backed away but he sat up and kept "talking". She got close again and he was so cute. big smile on his face and I crouched down next to him and was telling him how good he was. He had absolutely no tension in his body. He looked like a big goofy puppy. So sitting on the side of the road again, nice tears this time.
