  1. I recently had that issue with my kelpie and it was an infection, I got some antibiotic eye cream and it went away.
  2. Somehow "bring them through the gate" became "put them in the pigpen" But at least my cat fetches lolly bananas on command...*little victories*
  3. I just watched it. She is the type of person I truly hate. Spoiled brat. I so want to train my dogs to do pointless tricks now lol
  4. One has to wonder what the consequences would have been for the passing dog if the tethered dog had got free. Unless the prongs were sharpened, I can't comprehend how a prong collar could inflict that kind of damage. Me neither, I always have a flat collar sitting lower on the neck when I use my prong so if I do need to tie her up I switch the lead to the other collar Knowing the area who knows if it was even a prong collar, could have been a home made anything. The amount of idiots there :/
  5. That gave me chills. Holy crap that was a blitz attack that one.
  6. One has to wonder what the consequences would have been for the passing dog if the tethered dog had got free. Unless the prongs were sharpened, I can't comprehend how a prong collar could inflict that kind of damage. I have no idea, I'm wondering if it was a home made one or altered in some way. I didn't see the collar just the dog as they took it in to euth it. It was pretty bad.
  7. I haven't had much to do with prong collars but after seeing the result of Jo Public using one in Virginia I am against non-professional use. A poor pittyX came into Animal Control with huge gaping wounds on his neck. Apparently his owner had tied him up outside the store and when he was inside someone had walked a dog past and this dog had pulled and struggled to such a degree that it tore its neck apart.
  8. That's a bit rude. Every time I ever take Ammo out anywhere I always get told to "Get a saddle" or "who's walking who?" People are just trying to engage you and be friendly for a moment. It pays to be friendly back. Sometimes I just laugh and nod, that makes them feel good and doesn't ruin their whole day wondering what they said wrong.
  9. The first day I brought Maybe my rescue kelpie inside was rather hilarious. The phone rang and I swear she acted like she was shot, hit the floor and froze. Poor girl, she's fine with it now. The printer still has her running to the lounge room though.
  10. I read the name and thought of the studs you put in couches and thought it may have been a type of machine
  11. My maremma looks after my other dogs, he protects everything he's bonded to and the property but he is a night barker so has to be locked up a night, but yellowgirl would probably have an LGD inside at night. They're pretty hardy as far as dogs go.
  12. That is complete idiocy. Glad the boy was found. the parents need a stern talking to.
  13. I've had to amend the walking route so many times in this town because of unleashed dogs. It's got to a point now that I take them to a friend's property on the weekend and exercise them there and the rest of the time I use a home made agility course in the backyard to keep them exercised. I even have loose pig hunting dogs coming down my road and that's just something I never want to deal with. RIP little lady and I'm so sorry Norma, what a brave woman.
  14. I think she may well be Sarplaninac. She is only 1 year old, so she is not fully formed. Conformation and coat both. Here are some Sarplaninac females. She looks nothing like those dogs imo, her face shape is very maremma.
  15. I've done two puppies at once before. And they weren't staffords. Staffords are FULL ON as pups and even into adulthood lol. I would be concentrating on one puppy for now personally. I did notice that when I raised the two pups together (about 3-4 months difference) they took way longer to bond to me and would learn off each other instead. Seriously, two puppies isn't as fun as you think it is. It's double everything, not just the fun bits :)
  16. oh sorry I thought you were talking about the dog being in the pound, not the reg breeders cross breeding. That's idiotic.
  17. If the breeder isn't registered it's not against the law to breed your dog. If they are a reg breeder how is it a reportable offence that a dog you sold ended up in the pound?
  18. I would highly suggest you steer clear of any unpapered stafford. They can have a lot of health issues, especially the "blues" due to overbreeding for colour. There are some wonderful reg breeders of both that breed the colour you are wanting, these dogs are all health tested and come with a guarantee and lifetime support usually. Go to "Puppies for sale" at the top and you can see the list of both Amstaffs and SBT breeders and their puppies currently available. I would also suggest you speak to the people in the Amstaff and Stafford threads which are located in the breed specific subforums above "General Dog Discussion" Goodluck with your searching :)
  19. nods But they're very rare don't cha know?
  20. looks like a staffy mix to me. English stafford is not a breed, it's just staffordshire bull terrier
  21. I just scream at them, I don't need a recording I play them Elvis Presley Gospel songs.....they clearly have bad taste in music, they never bother to hang around to listen..... I used to be a telemarketer and I had quite a few people play death metal and I think one guy was having sex once (or doing something untoward).
  22. I have sent a few people here to read. It's such a sad story but hopefully will stop others following the same path. Tragedy. RIP Owey.
  23. I just scream at them, I don't need a recording
