  1. Yeah, I work in animal transport and this guy would have gone in a box in the cargo hold of a scheduled flight or run, as for the resources in surgery etc, I would say why not, I guess. Interesting case for the vet, awesome publicity for them and for the frog rescue.
  2. What baffles me here is 'force' is so broad. I can't tell in all of this word salad if you mean force IE collar grab games, the tension on the leash when one stops moving forward when a dog pulls or a 'corrective' smack or similar. The first one I don't think anyone really thinks is unnecessary?
  3. Wait, what the hell are you using it for? If I'm walking my dog and he's walking nicely by my side then that's exactly the purpose? If something spooks him or distracts him or whatever the entire purpose of the leash is so he doesn't take off into traffic?
  4. That I absolutely agree on. Still, I don't believe that's all the fault of the public either. The purebred dog world needs some excellent PR work.
  5. It can include deregistraton. For a body that has no legal powers, that's as bad as they can make it. I know that but the wording sounds pretty weak. Also the public don't know that either. Maybe leading with the promise of deregistration and full cooperation with the aim of legal prosecution might have been stronger.
  6. I think that's what is on today's agenda, it was my idea to go on a pinching spree, haha. He is already chipped, she never bothered to change it from the breeder so he's been in the process of changing it and has communications with both breeder and chip reg, so that's a plus!
  7. That is the understatement of the year!
  8. It really is sad, dog was in a crummy state when he got him back too. Yeah that's been considered too I think. I did ask if there was a way into the yard from the street...
  9. Not sure! I'll check. There was no official property settlement though, they aren't married (thank god, she is nuts)
  10. I have a question on behalf of a friend. He and his ex bought a dog together, they broke up and she decided to move countries. She needed a home for the dog so he offered, dog has been there for months. She comes home, he's desexed dog, vaccinated dog and trained dog up. Dog is happy and loved. She comes home and decides she wants dog back, he says no, she asks to have him weekends, lo and behold first weekend she won't return dog, leaves snarky voicemail saying she has him, isn't returning him and to not make this messy. He's heartbroken, has put so much love & work into dog. Clincher is chip is still in breeders name, he has however been in the process of changing it for months and has emails to that effect between himself, breeder and chip registry. So after all this my friend goes to the police, is told sorry, you handed the dog over, we can't help, you need a lawyer. Friend is going to push ahead with details on the chip and list him stolen etc and go to the lawyer etc. Anyone have any hints, ideas or been through similar? I'd take any advice for the guy, it's such a low blow.
  11. I started but didn't finish too. Are robots good looking, oceans lethargic? It got a bit gibberish-y.
  12. Nope. What an idiot. No matter how much you trust your dog, why put them in that position? Stressful and risky for everyone.
  13. ...that makes also an interesting comment for the 'unethical desexing' thread... Can you keep your ranting to one thread? There's a reason its an echo chamber in there. How clever. But really, I'm tired of this same agenda being dragged into irrevelevant posts where people are trying to learn or ask questions. We get it, you guys have an agenda and are on the same side. Go team, but can we all be spared in threads that bear no relevance to said agenda? I have no interest in getting further into it and driving things more off topic but a little consideration would be really nice.

  15. These are really good questions, OP! No one is having a go at you personally, everyone here loves dogs and doesn't want to see anything go to poop, its happened way too many times here. It'd probably pay to sit down with these questions and be totally honest with yourself, see what you can come up with.
  16. Haha don't laugh, it happens! There's a lot of stories here of puppies egging each other on!
  17. I think its less about size and more about temperament, I'd be worried about a dachshund's back and joints running free range with a big, active, boisterous dog. I have a retriever who sounds similar, haha. Regardless of breed, I'd be waiting a while until your lab is more settled and able to show a new pup how to behave rather than join in the mischief haha. :)
  18. I'd not jump straight to two dogs. Raising two dogs together is no easy feat and a lot harder than raising one alone. Working full time does not mean a lonely dog. Alone and busy, contented and stimulated isn't lonely.
  19. There's an interesting thread going about yearly costs at the moment, might be worth popping in! Always account for worst case scenario. Also be very very mindful of approaching breeders, little dogs are big in puppy farms & puppy farmers are very very good at marketing their wares well. Lots of people here have been fooled before! If you want any reccommendations or need a second opinion on anything feel free to ask, most everyone here is fab.
  20. We got Gus at 8 weeks, both working full time. No drama at all but we were extra careful managing him and leaving adequate stimulation and distractions.
  21. Ah I see, you don't like Dave-O/respect his review of food? I agree with him on this kibble. You don't need to try it to see what it's like - ingredients tell you what's in the bag. Or perhaps wants to see more than one opinion...?
