  1. Cairns in pet trim, I clip every 8 weeks, I find it surprising you would leave the dog a whole year between clips. Dogs who have relatively short coats to begin with, like the labs and goldens, I see no reason to clip these for summer
  2. how many? The ones I know live in good sized houses or homes with land attached.
  3. they pant as they get the milk in, it is totally normal. Try to get some sleep, have you got a bed in the same room? Are they staffie pups?
  4. It is the 10th - 13th March 2011 and will probably be available live online again each day.
  5. probably forgot about crufts and the euro winner show or the world shows Don't suppose Australia holds shows with over 20,000 entries?? Most of your champ shows are no bigger then the open shows in the UK Seems to me it is Australia that doesn't have a big dog show culture!!
  6. What's a satin coat? It looks no different on that photo to the other dogs
  7. oops, shouldn't write late at night! I do know it is 4 CACIBs not 4 titles! I also forgot to mention the veterans at the WW show also get a title - VWW - year for winning the VB or VD class, and over there veterans are 8 years and above. I'm hoping to go to the WW show in Paris next year, should be interesting to compare it to Crufts! It'll be wierd seeing my breeds all split by colour though!
  8. http://www.hundeweb.dk/dkk/public/openInde...on_locale=en-en that link maybe better to see all the results
  9. http://www.worlddogshow2010.dk/?GB/Results.aspx that is for this years show in Denmark, where docked and cropped dogs could not be shown, so a lower entry in those breeds.
  10. Just to add to confusion, the Int CH is also often written Inter CH and that has now been changed to CIB (certificate of international beauty). This title is won by the dog becoming a champion in 4 different countries (unless their home country has an exception to this eg Iceland as they have a 1 month quarentine to get the dog into the country and I think Ireland still has the exception too.) The WW show can be entered by anyone, but remember dogs are graded before they are placed under the FCI system, so a poor example of the breed wouldn't get that far - but of course each judge has their own interpretation of the breed standard. The WW show is more then just 'another dog show', it is the one where breeders and exhibitors want to be seen to do well at, the class entries are much higher, with dogs competing from many countries. There are 4 titles on offer WW for dog and bitch and then JWW for the winners of junior dog/bitch plus it is possible to win junior or adult champion titles as normal. WW (and euro winner) shows are generally held with breed speciality shows the day before or after and sometimes other shows will be held in the week before the WW show, to encourage exhibitors to make the journey. It is like most big shows, with a mix of breed specialists and top all rounder judges. before you knock how much 'prestige' comes from a WW title, go and have a look at the results online and see how many entries there are, how many champions etc etc.
  11. Are the pupcolours soft material or stiff like velcro?
  12. Hi I suggest you post this in the general area, this is a restricted access forum, so you may not get many replies.
  13. Yup, typical area for puppy play nips to leave scabs - probably aren't being done hard enough for your older dog to bother about, so he doesn't floor the pup until he gets rougher with him. Give your dog a good shampoo to get the scabs off before clipping him (they shouldn't be deep or thick scabs, so won't cause him a problem when clipping) I would however, use a longer blade to clip him with, so he still has some fur to protect him from the puppy teeth. Once pup looses the shark teeth, he won't have any more scabs.
  14. say it with a posh english accent and she has just called them 'doggies' which is as good a name as any for a mutt! lol
  15. I heard you have a castle you like to swim around when not eating family members!
  16. Do you praise as soon as the noise stops? When he is whinning, do you look at him? It is best to not look at him, pretend you are coming into the house with a large bag of shopping, you can't see the pup and must get on with the job of putting away the groceries. Alternative, if pup is not over excited - get him to do a sit and then you can praise for that.
  17. I got my Dopram V from one of the on-line chemists - do they not sell it like that in Oz?
  18. I know that! The colonies do take time to catch up with the rest of the world!
  19. The 'products' page is completly meaningless, why have the pie charts and not say anything about what they are showing? Why not give the normal breakdowns of protein/fat/ etc etc?? I also wouldn't be keen to buy from somewhere with such a basic website (lack of any real info) that is also a free 'weebly' site - makes it look a bit fly by night
  20. If a dog wins best dog or best bitch at the world show it wins the 'World Winner' title, often you will see WW and then the year it was won, at the start of the dogs name. Don't know how titles such as 'euro champ' or world champ' is attained.
  21. The spanish exhibitors all seem to be rallying in support of this judge, saying the video is edited to make it look worse and that it is a 'dirty trick campaign' against her.
  22. I've ticked the 'in training' option but the UK system is very different. We have to be on a breed clubs judges list and then start of by actually judging at open shows, we also have to attend and pass various seminars on construction, movement, rules & regs and the breed standard for that breed. We then have to judge a set number of dogs, which usually takes several or more years, even if you get asked to judge at a breed club show! We also have to be a ring steward at least 12 times. ATM I am busy working on gaining more numbers in each of the 3 sizes of schnauzer, I have judged at open shows, champ show without CC and in a few months time have my first breed club appointment. Once all that is done, you have to wait to be asked to judge at a champ show and give CC's for the first time, when that happens you will have someone watch and report back to the KC before you are fully passed to give tickets in that breed in the future. The same thing happens for each breed you are interested in, this is why the UK is known for having breed specialist judges and not many all rounders (I think there are only about 5 or 6 judges here who are passed for all groups and all recognised breeds). I find judging fun but also hard work. It helps to put into perspective the qualities and faults of your own dogs and how they sit among the breed as a whole (especially when it is a coated/groomed breed that is hard to judge from ringside)
  23. vigourous rubbing with towel (dried on washin line so it is rougher then from a dryer) swinging, making sure head is held dopram V under the tongue i will work on it until the next pup is being delivered, then that pup takes priority
  24. How much grooming equipment do you take to a show? With one of my breeds I can just use a satchel, for another breed I need a much larger bag!
  25. I use the mat over the top of the crate and then cover over the top of this, then with a fan in use it keeps the inside of the crate much cooler
