Let her make friends at her own pace, don't force her to 'chat' to another pup. keep her away from litter mates, if she is feeling stressed, she will know how the familiar pups will react and who she can take it out on. The new dogs are unpredictable if she tries it. How are the dogs socialised? Is it all off lead and a big mass of pups leaping about or just one or two at a time with space to make up their own mind if they want to say hello?

She is still very new to her surroundings, once she has settled it will all start to come together.

Are you still using puppy pads? I would get rid of them as it's just telling him it is OK to pee in your house. Just teach him to go outside. I also have a couple of pups the same age, they have already lost several teeth. The male is also cocking his leg sometimes while outside. I have had pups as young as 7 - 8 weeks old do this, so don't be getting all stressed about it! Just make sure you have cleaned the area with appropriate cleaners to remove all smell (that would attract him back). The hormones will soon settle down.

I'd just keep walking at a reasonable pace and not give him chance to stop, if it is a familiar road he is walking down (might be he just wants to stop and look but if it is a regular distance it is just him being awkward). He won't be tired on that short distance, just think about how far he covers having a run around in the back yard!

Swelled Vulva? Is It Called The Vulva?

Might have been a split season. Have you spoken to the person you got the dog from? -
I found that the Propalin would become less effective with one of mine roughly every 6 months, ie when she would have been in season. So I would use Incurin as a top up for those few weeks and then the Propalin would work fine again. I have one on Incurin now (and it isn't a new drug, been around years!), but it is more of a pain to give her a tablet then to put drops onto the food.

Another thing you can teach that is useful is to 'hand touch' getting the dog to touch the back of your hand or some people use the tips of their fingers as a target. You can then build this up so your dog will follow the hand. Easy to guide the dog into different positions or to practise heel work then without having the dog following a treat all the time.

A little bit bare!! or should that be a bare bear? -
You may not be able to reply to a topic if you had used the start new topic button by accident, as now no new threads can be started in that section.

It could be scent marking. It could be he is feeling insecure and needs to make the place smell more familiar while you are not around at night.

forgot about doing a photo today, so here are my pups Guy and Grace having a snooze -
One of my dogs had to be bathed underneath on a weekly basis as he peed on himself when scent marking, used to cock his leg that high gravity sent it onto the other leg!

Advance Has Changed Its Kibble Size?
becks replied to monkeytrunks's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
erhaps the last bag you bought that was adult, wasn't for giant breeds?? It is normal for kibble siz to increase depending on which size range you buy. Feeding the food soaked does encorage a dog to eat fast and not need to chew anything. -
I agree with Koemi. Sometimes a dog that has been shaved will have a coat come back as before. The sharp coat you can feel know will be the top coat that has been clipped and this can leave a sharp point on the hair shaft. With the next coat drop this will change. Before then, keep brushing, make sure you go from root to hair tip, section by section instead of just letting the brush float on top of the coat (ie brush in sections in the same way a hairdresser sections your hair for cutting, instead of the method you'd use to brush your own hair). A coat rake or a wide tooth comb with an elastic band woven through the teeth will help to remove any loose underoat and encorage the rest of the coat to lie flatter.

ripping paper is such fun and makes a fab noise. It works just as well if it is shredded by pup or lying flat.

'Stumped' -
They used to be easily available over here, now I never see them on the display stands at the shows. I think that must say something about the popularity of these blades. I've just bought some new blades, cryogen-X which claim to be the coolest blades ever. Mine don't get that hot to test that claim though!

I've seen it advertised over here but the website gives no details on how to find anyone who sells it. Good luck in your search!

Erractic incase you are wondering about the big rock, here's what is says on the plate (or as they say on the shampoo adverts 'here's the science bit'!) and about yesterdays pic, yes, that was a plant growing out of the stump.
