  1. Dogs come in such lovely colours naturally, I see no need to do that to them, personally I don't like it and would never offer to do it at my salon. To me it is no different to those high heeled baby shoes being talking about in off topic!
  2. I use a blaster, then bath and blast again, then finish off with a normal dryer and slicker/rake. Gets rid of the undercoat in the easiest way
  3. hand stripping is removing the soft undercoat and pulling the top coat at regular intervals to retain the correct colour and texture for the breed. yes, it can be oddly relaxing, i do enjoy stripping border terriers, luckily as i have 2 to do on my day off next week!
  4. When in doubt, get them checked out by a vet. It looks a bit odd from the blurred photo.
  5. If the eyes get not better, go see a vet and get them checked for tear production, some dogs with dry eye start out like that.
  6. my vet charges the same price as the cost of the vaccination.
  7. I just stop having time to book in clients who don't turn up without a very good reason.
  8. I'd cut back on the liver, infact for pups I tend to stick to things like boiled chicken for training treats. To much liver can give them an upset tum but over the long term has been linked to causing the bones along the back and tail to fuse together (something that has happened to one of my giants and this was the first thing my vet asked - how much liver in her diet!!! In her case it has another cause, but something to bare in mind). As said by others, be careful what behaviours you 'comfort' as the dog sees this as 'yes, you are right to feel like that about ......'
  9. might just be a case of him wanting to skip part of the routine. Have you tried doing the routine from end to start or just swopping around the tricks?
  10. a) When do you start treating your pups for worms? from 2 weeks old b) Which treatment do you use? panacur c) What would you do if you sold a 3-10 month old dog and then the owner got back to you saying the pup had worms? Tell the owner to follow the recommended worming schedule as supplied in their puppy pack!
  11. I would have a vet check her over to see if there is any health reasons for her to be loosing weight. Also look in the sticky section for 'satin balls'
  12. I would have had them off while his teeth were done, otherwise, I'd be leaving him alone unless something else warrents having an anaesthetic
  13. Can someone help me with a new signature/banner?? I forget to check back here so if someone could pm me and i will post some photos.....??
  14. http://www.csjk9.com/productcart/pc/viewPr...duct=50#details I've used this sucessfully for one of mine and you can wean them to a lower maintainance dosage after a while, it's herbs, containing agrimony which just go onto the dinner once a day.
  15. I have used a variation of plaque off for a while now and it does work for my dogs, the variation I use is http://www.csjk9.com/productcart/pc/viewPr...mp;idproduct=76 but due to legal matters they are not allowed to make any claims that this product works for cleaning the teeth (plaque off have a world patent on the claim). I have found this works better then plaque off, maybe due to it's slightly more gritty texture?? It cannot be used on bitches who maybe pregnant.
  16. I agree, it would be a waste of money on a clipped coat (and not something I would use on a stripped coat either!)
  17. tbh I would wait with the grooming let him settle in a bit unless there are any big mats that would need taking off for comfort. You will get a neater finish if he can be bathed during the groom.
  18. With the shampoo, maybe you aren't diluting it enough?? Oh and if the wolfie cross has a wolfie coat texture, then NO conditioner!
  19. For spot cleans, another vote here for Show Off, just spray on, rub to lather, dry and brush.
  20. With a curly coated breed, I find it best to blow dry the coat, trim into desired shape/length and then, if the owner wants the natural curl, it is simple to just lightly spray the coat with a leave in conditioner or just water and the curl springs back. Saves the dog having to hang around the shop longer then necesary.
  21. Another vote for the Roselines here!
  22. http://www.clipperworld.com.au/shop/index....p;productId=431 double ended tooth scaler
  23. I have used vaseline on the dry parts of a older dogs nose, just pop it on before feeding the dog or they will lick right off whatever you put on.
  24. or you could get creative on the cat! or more subtle
