  4. I love black dogs. We have a Black Greyhound and when she goes out in the sun she shines and is so pretty. White dogs cant shine like she can
  5. Does anyone know much about Wide Bay Animal Rescue in QLD or have had any dealings with them?
  6. I understand no one likes to see a dog put down, and I do think that one needs to look at the reason for the attack and find out if it is fixable ie I couldnt fault a dog for attacking another if it was acting as a pack member and jumped in on the fight as dogs will do that sometimes but if a dog is deemed unpredictable then its just not worth the risk to let him/her out into a community.
  7. I dont understand because if a rescue told me that a dog who was an escape artist and so dog aggressive that he killed dogs had to be put to sleep after trying to rehab them didnt work I would think more highly of that rescue. When did no kill become so out of control? No kill is to me no rehomeable dog is put down, not every dog is let loose into society even when a danger.
  8. How does stuff like this get overlooked I dont understand.
  9. Sorry I am terrible with directions what state is this in?
  10. There opens another question how much traffic comes from different sources for you all? Pet rescue, website, facebook, etc? Loving the discussion should be very helpful for some
  11. Yup I think we think a lot alike. I had often wondered if dogs should be moved foster homes after awhile so they dont get to set or attached I suppose this would depend on the dog. This would also allow you to see how they respond in different home environments also. I agree that quality of life trumps everything. I can not see a dog sitting in a kennel all day and all night without some sort of enrichment program and plenty of time outside getting exercise being too happy with life. So now if a dog simply isnt finding that home what suggestions would people have to try to help them get that home? What mistakes do you all see rescues making that make a dog miss that home? Lack of good pictures? Lack of a good write up? I have seen some really bad write ups in my time. I think this could be a big one. Also do you think listing temp traits works best or more of a paragraph type listing?
  12. This is a spin off of another topic but how long do you think is too long for a dog to be in a rescue? What are some things we can do to help them get a good home if you have already had them trained, and they have no quirks other than just not finding that perfect home? Does time matter if they are in a foster home versus a kennel environment? Would love to hear some of your views on this.
  13. 5 Years is a long time. Sometimes I wonder what is too long and how do we avoid long term dogs if they are well behaved and trained but just are not finding that home.
  14. yes pound rounds took them they are at their "sanctuary"
  15. Yes thats the rescue but not a rescue dogs can be in kennels for years no problem group. I guess we just watch the train wreck. Is there anything we can do to try to help this other rescue?
  16. I agree Steve that is is a good idea for a good group but I am not sure how being in rescue for 6 months (this rescue was a foster home for a small group for 2 months then started her own group to help/be supported by the brokers) they have a lot of dogs shipped up to them in qlds from nsw and she has admitted that paperwork is overwhelming already. I just hope that it works out and no more people or animals are harmed.
  17. I have noticed a rescue who has been up and running about 6-7 months now has started branches in other states the other day they added 5 new branches from vic to nsw to qlds are there laws that they will need to follow that differ from state to state? Is there any point to have multiple branches? I am a bit concerned as they are hand in hand with another group that isnt a rescue more of a brokering company for pound dogs and I fear for the dogs that will be carted all over the country and if they are not following laws the dogs may pay for it in the end.
