  1. Oh dear I hope its not happening in any of the groups I admin if it is please let me know so I can correct the people asap! Pr do still pay people to cross post (which I think is legal as its under advertising costs) and they will be hitting mups pounds soon as they are now in wagga, forbes and now walgett. I even saw a post from someone that said "so and so from pr are trying to save the wagga dogs today please call her at...."

  3. No issues I called and chatted with a savvy belgian trainer and just had a chat and now that I know what they are like as a breed I understand that he wasnt resource guarding we have not had any issues since with any of the dogs. He sticks his nose up at the new fosters but we know that when we have the more hyper ones out to play he needs to go sit in the house and take a nap which he is happy to do. All well he is fitting in well.
  4. Oh dear this teddy goes everywhere! He even takes it on his walks.
  5. Wise words, Steve. But let's face it, the holier than thous always need to point out others' foibles whist forgetting their own  Agreed and there are loads of things which impact on that which we can get bogged down on. Some people will feel the urge to campaign as anti this or that and there is probably a place for that though its my experience that all this leads to is more laws which don't really make much positive difference to the dogs. If those who use those "come and save everything before it is killed" tags are honest their goals and aim for their group and target market isn't the same as the market you guys are trying to appeal to and attract as new owners for the dogs you take on. In real life You don't build your market or make too much headway if you bag out those who work differently and see things differently. You can gather supporters and yell and beat a drum - start and activist group or lobby group to address what is going on you don't agree with but its hard to do that and have enough energy and umph left to also work at getting it right yourself. Focusing on and complaining about all the stuff you think is wrong and creates a focus on "rescue" that is against your base philosophies takes your focus off what needs to be done that requires a focus on positive actions and thoughts. In the case of the OP you attracted someone who was more suited to be the target market for the other guys - someone who was prepared to take almost anything on to save something from death. If you want to attract an abundant different market then you need to take a good look at your language and how you market what you do and how you will cope with and manage fundraising. Know who you are, what you do and be proud of it and promote it - then they will come. Thank you
  6. Any suggestions as I have never experienced this really it use to be if you wanted to adopt a dog you either went to the pound which didnt adopt out iffy dogs or you went to a rescue. So how do we show people the better option? Or do we just keep plugging away the best we can
  7. I know that the majority of dogs adopted from the pound out of the adoptable dogs probably work but its the rescue only dogs that are really concerning. Ones that are suppose to go to rescue for rehab but i have seen those same dogs get dropped off at a vet get desexed and straight into homes thats very scary. I fear for the poor neighbors of the new family.
  8. Has he tried dog rescue newcastle? They transport dogs as long as the home check and references check out.
  9. I am not upset with the people so much as frustrated with the way dogs in rescue siting waiting for a home get passed up just because a dog is advertised as will be killed. Especially when the dog they got came from a pound that only put to sleep dogs when they are over full and keep dogs for months on end and I don't think they have put down any rehomable dogs in years but I could be wrong about that bit. Sorry just a vent. Sometimes if I wonder if I worded my blurbs on my dogs with CAPS LIKE THIS AND LOTS OF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! would they get more attention
  10. This is more of a vent than anything but maybe someone else has experienced this. With all these "kill lists" and "save them before they die" I am getting a bit frustrated. I had been talking to someone back and forth about adopting a dog from me we were getting further and further into adoption I just had to get the home check done and we would have had a dog in a new home. I spend hours telling these people about the dogs I have here and sorting through the ones that would work out for their family only to be told that they had gotten a dog and were picking it up soon from the vet. I thanked them for letting me know and asked why they decided to go against the dog they had decided on here. They told me its because they found a dog on facebook that was going to die if it wasnt adopted they were looking for a kelpie or cattle dog but instead adopted a staffy cross. Another lady was interested in a dog that was due to be put to sleep once he got rescue back up on him she no longer wanted the dog because it was safe and not going to die. I dont understand its the same dog, he is still homeless so why now is he not worthy of a home just because he has rescue back up? It seems to me that people are impulse buying the "kill list" dogs and the dogs safe in rescue who are going to be carefully placed are just nor moving on or is it just my imagination?
  11. I have been too but some pounds require one and from what I have been told its not allowed to be shared so one rescue isnt suppose to use anothers 16d is this right?
  12. Yeah I dont get many returns because I tend to be brutally honest about the dogs I place. I guess thats why they stay so long here. I have seen what deception can do and got reprimanded pretty bad when I told a potential adopter about one dogs issues and they didnt adopt him was told its not my rescue not my dogs so stop telling them anything negative I got screamed at for not letting a dog go that was sent to the kennels because I told her I needed to do a homecheck as she was juat down the road I told her it would be in a few days glad I dont work there anymore. Edited to add I have a separate bnk account for the rescue so all the adoption fees go in there and sit
  13. kinda it says so is that 14 days from the finalization of adoption or 14 days from when the dog leaves and goes on trial? I have heard that the chip details need to be registered to where the animal is staying even if its a foster home but I dont see that there actually dont see anything about foster carers
  14. So I have my application, I have a pound to back it up and the vet ready to sign off but have a few questions How long before you sign the dog over to the new owner? If the dog is on trial can you keep it in your name until they decide? My trial is 2 weeks but am upping it to 4 is this going to cause issue? Does the dog need to be registered at the foster homes address? thanks in advance
  15. http://inlinek9.webs.com/ she is also a member here have spoken to her on the phone very knowledgeable too
  16. I have heard good things about fernleah (sp?) kennels in wagga
  17. Yeah that looks american bull dog to me. I am surprised that there are no leash laws there not sure if there are in my town but dogs are usually not on leash here anyway.
  18. Doesnt smell like anal glands and it is actually subsiding a bit so I am hopeful that it will pass with the good diet. I will be taking him in for a check up in a few weeks anyway just a general check over so will make sure to mention the tonsils etc
  19. Thanks guys Ill give him a bit more time on a good diet then take him to the vet if it doesnt clear up.
  20. I have no clue what you are going on about with the greyhounds. The two I had when I was on this forum one was adopted and I am facebook friends with her and the dog is very spoiled and in a good home. The other one was also adopted and doing well how that is damaging the breed I do not know. Seems to me that in the last year a few more greyhound rescues have popped up and although they all seem to be full all the time it seems that a lot of greyhounds are being saved, I even referred someone to GAP to get a dog and they did and are very happy with their new dog. So you have me stumped on this one but if that is how you feel so be it I wont ever change your mind. I'll guess it has something to do with muzzles for a start. There was a thread last year where you were quoted from FB. Now that really isn't good enough Happy Camper - how dare you put other people's pets at risk. Fair enough I was going off the info given to me from a greenhound coordinator regarding a puppy.
