  1. Good luck when the AR nutters finally get around to brachy breeds. Suggest you have a look at some the proposals which have already been put forward in Europe. Again, more scare tactics. You're acting like a bunch of animal rights nutters.
  2. I'm an educated, responsible dog owner and this is my opinion on the subject: I'm so over bull breed people and the whole BSL drama. I refuse to get caught up in it and it makes me so angry that you think it's okay to manipulate other dog owners into supporting your cause with your scare tactics and emotional blackmail. I don't give a toss about BSL or bull breeds. I don't want to know about it/them and being a martyr for a cause is not how I'm going to express myself as a dog owner. That's my choice. Deal with it. So if that's what I really think, imagine what the average numpty dog owner might think? Probably a thousand times worse than I do, but gee I wonder why. You really need to change your approach if you expect other dog owners to help you.
  3. I think you have made some good points, but I don't think this is of any concern to me let alone a threat.
  4. I'm sorry, I thought that had always been the case. Is this a new thing? It would have required a hell of a lot more work and legislative changes previously. Now that the minister has snuck in the provision to declare a breed or kind of dog as 'menacing' with the recent changes to the Act it is as simple as a flick of the pen and it's done. On top of that, they are now actively tasking an advisory group to identify and recommend breeds or kinds of dog that should be added to both the menacing and restricted list, as well as writing to the federal parliament to to attempt get the customs act updated to ban for import any more breeds they decide on. Thanks for explaining, though I still cant see how it could affect me.
  5. Me too. Since I've been doing it my Pug has had no signs of any parasites at all, not even an egg!

  7. There is no immediate threat to all dogs and owners. This has nothing to do with me or my Pug, it's about Breed Specific Legislation and 'menacing' dogs. I suppose I'm going to be accused of being pro-BSL now because I refuse to be swept up in all the drama.
  8. I'm not clear what the threat is (for example to me as an owner of a purebred Pug)? I'm sorry, I don't understand. Can someone please spell it out for me really clearly? :)
  9. I was also going to suggest a barbecued chicken. I would start with Coles roast chicken* then pan fry some chicken in a non-stick pan. My Pug goes crazy for cooked chicken. *Coles roast chicken is really salty and I wouldn't feed it all the time.
  10. I'm so sorry What beautiful photos. He reminds me of my best friend's Collie when I was in primary school. I remember the day we buried him. It was so sad
  11. I know a 19 year old Pug but she lives in the US so I've never met her. The oldest Pug I've heard of (who also lived in the US) was 21.
  12. Thanks :) I met my naturopath when I was 14. I was working part time for my best friend's mum and she introduced us. We have been friends for 25 years. She has made a big difference to my life. She is a very inspiring woman.
  13. And I want to be a member of the Calendula gang
  14. Why does your pug need coat conditioner? Just curious, 'cause if the coat is dry or dull, this could indicate a dietary deficiency of sorts and might be best and in the long-term easiest to remedy from the inside out instead of the other way around. There is nothing wrong with his coat. I would just like to try the calendula :) Aaah … ok :) . Just misunderstood, sorry. I think Calendula is good as a bath time wash instead of shampoo No worries :) I like to lavish my Pug and I think the Calendula might compliment what I'm already doing. And I think it would be good for his skin, seeing as though he is recovering from multiple mast cell tumours and he has scars from surgery. Also, my naturopath and I did consider adding Calendula to his liquid herbal remedy, which contains Astragalus, Burdock, Milk Thistle and Clivers because Calendula has similar lymph gland healing properties to Clivers. (He had swollen lymph glands.) He is the most spoilt Pug in the universe  eta Yes, I'm considering giving him a Calendula rinse every now and then.

Excellent, thanks! I will PM you now :)
  18. My Pug doesn't get itchy but I'm wondering if the calendula tea might have coat conditioning properties?? At the moment he gets washed with Melrose organic shampoo with a few drops each of organic rosemary, lavender and tea tree oil added to 500 ml of shampoo (I buy it in bulk).
  19. I'm glad to hear that Josie is okay :) My Pug once ripped open a 5kg bag of Vet's All Natural pet muesli (I can't remember what it's called). God knows how much he ate. I phoned the vet and she said to make sure he drank lots of water. His stomach was enormous and he was very gassy but that was the worst of it.
  20. Does a regular vet do the job or do you have to see a specialist to have their teeth cleaned? (I've never had any of my dogs' teeth cleaned.)
  21. Since my Pug has been on a cooked diet, he has this habit of sitting in front of the stove and looking up at it. I think he has worked out that's where the cooked chicken comes from
