  1. I agree, I'm part of our local lost pets page on Facebook and see the same thing in my area too. My pup was chipped by the breeder, but it would have been the first thing on my list if that wasn't the case. I did only just get around to getting her a tag for her collar with our phone numbers on it though! Previously I hadn't been too concerned about that because our vet is literally around the corner and they would know where she's from on sight (+ the microchip), but I've been seeing a lot more of people who take the dog home and then just post on Facebook that they found it..
  2. Get a size 2, I went chest measurements with my Aussie when he was still growing and he fits a size 2 at it's smallest. No way I would get a size 1 for a GSD, he would grow out of it Thank you!
  3. Sorry to bump this thread, but I was hoping those with the Julius K9 IDC could give me some input on the sizing. My dog is a 9 month old GSD, 77cm around the chest and 26kg... Sizing says: Size 1 Girth: 26 - 33.5" (66-85 cm) For dogs: 51 - 66 lbs. (23-30 kg) Reflective strip on chest belt Handle on back Size 2 Girth: 28 - 34" (71-86 cm) For dogs: 62 - 88 lbs. (28-40 kg) Reflective strip on chest belt Handle on back So she could technically fit into either when it comes to the chest measurement. I'm not sure if I should go the size 2 for some room to grow, or if I should stick with the size 1... Any input would be great!
  4. I completed it. I assumed the rest of the questions were to establish the type of people we are... How we value others, ourselves etc so that it could correspond to "Dog owners who sleep with their dogs feel a higher amount of x" for example.
  5. I have a syntek collar and am very happy with it... An orange one, it's very vibrant :)
  6. Cocker spaniel for me, warm and snuggly, can help find food but won't mutilate it before she gets back to me :)
  7. So many great suggestions, thank you! I'm leaning towards some of the leather suggestions at the moment, but I'll go back through all the suggestions before I make a decision :)
  8. Great pics! I especially loved the 'glamour' ????
  9. As the title suggests, I'm in the market for a new leash ???? Spring has brought some surprisingly harsh winds, and I've found my hands have been chafing a bit on the edges of my current leash... It's quite scratchy where the edges are stitched together. I'm looking for something soft, but strong. I'll also happily take recommendations for long lines while we're here!
  10. I definitely think get some professional help as well, my GSD was similar and we thought she'd grow out of it... Now she's 8 months old and people find it much more intimidating, we're working with a trainer but I do wish I'd bitten the bullet earlier on making that call.
  11. I also think you spend plenty of time with him... Don't let it get you down, your trainer sounds a bit full on in their ideas!
  12. I'm also quite fond of orange girl, she looks like she has spunk :)
  13. Thank you, I probably would have fallen for this! I am so so terrified of snakes, I actually stepped on a RBB on a school trip and my memory is of it chasing me after... It might have been trying to get away and I was in its way, but I'm scarred for life, haha
  14. Happy Gotcha day, Ziggy This pohot say it for me! I am Ziggy, very beloved dog! His tail is just a blur in that photo :) happy beloved dog
  15. I also didn't know. Common sense says it would cause some discomfort, but I had no idea about it travelling. I would have expected it to be similar to a splinter... Sore and then comes out the same way it went in.
  16. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I could confirm if this is right - but isn't there a way to check with your state's registering body if a certain breeder or prefix has registered a litter? If so that might help you get on the right track of knowing if they have been registered at all...
  17. Jake sounds like he's doing really well!! We went to our first reactive dogs class today, I feel so much better now. It's not really different to what I've been doing anyway, but it means that I'm not doing it alone and I can relax while working with her because I know the other dogs are aware of us too and aren't going to barge in all of a sudden :)
  18. I have one of those tunnels for my cats...now I have regrets for not pulling it out when Luna was little enough to fit in it!
  19. Totally normal. I love nap time :)
  20. Nekhbet - thank you for your post showing some of the dogs you've trained - it was beautiful
  21. Hahaha, oh I love him! He sounds like such a special character
  22. I mostly use treat balls for dry food, but mix it up by scattering it in the grass some days... Until this morning when I noticed the birds descend on my lawn and take off with part of Luna's breakfast!
  23. Lol, Luna would probably sell her soul for some Doritos! She definitely could be amplifying based on my nerves, but all of her recent reactions are when I haven't seen the dog before her, so I was pretty relaxed. It gave me a fright because we came out of the street and there was a jack Russell approaching from the left and she reacted, so I've spun around to go right and there was an off lead Rotti coming that way! Back down our original street we went... We got stuck between another dog and the Rotti later in our walk, but I managed to hold enough distance from both to keep her under threshold, so I was very proud of her. Definitely think it's time for professional help though - she's only 8 months old so if we can try and get it under control sooner rather than later, I'd be happy.
  24. This is a great idea, my girl is a GSD and I've already noticed how hot her back is getting in the sun (and we're only in Tassie, poor little love). Thanks for the tip about clean run shipping as well TSD, I've been wanting to order a harness so will keep waiting :)
  25. I love German Shepherds, but the Belgians just don't do it for me. It's like the old chocolate vs vanilla question :)
