  1. Perses' Pups

Wow. Now that is a story. Strange how he just disappeared - “gone up in smoke” ??? At least it was a happy ending. Thanks goodness he was scooped up by a very nice person. He looks such a cute cuddly boy too.

    Waiting for Smoke’s wonderous tales.
  3. Perses' Pups

That is a very happy ending. I bet she has a story to tell.
  4. Definitely not fleas or ticks. At this time of the year I use Bravecto anyway. We’ve had a few ticks in our area in previous years and we also do a lot of bush camping. She is protected in that way.

Gotta love that funny boy. He’s so handsome too.
  6. @PossumCornerpositive they are mozzies. I’ve killed enough of them as they do love my blood. I always react to them and any other little biting bug. We actually camped recently at a place slightly up north and the sandflies were terrible. Despite sprays, coils and everything else I came home looking like I had the plague. Molly camped with us and never scratched at all. Obviously sandflies do not affect her but I still wonder if the mozzies do. Although at the moment she seems to be ok again.
  7. I was wondering can mosquitos make a dog itchy just like humans? We have a lot here at present. Tiny little buggers. We do not have water in containers or anything where water can sit but we do have a lot of palm trees etc where they like to hide. We can’t seem to go outside without them hanging around. And yes we do have bug zappers etc. I know they can cause heart worm etc and we are all covered for that but I was wondering if they were also a factor in why Molly is itchy. We cleared up the itchiness she had and I stopped all medication but just the last week she has started scratching again but it is only at times and on random places of her body. For example sometimes it’s her leg, or her butt or her belly. Not really the same place and not all the time like before the medication. She will have a mad scratch session and then she’s totally calm for hours. And it’s also when I noticed we had so many tiny mosquitos. I can’t see any bites on her though. Just wondering.

So sad to hear one of your “darling oldies” has passed. Your photos of the little guy are so sweet. What a cutie. No wonder you took him in so many years ago. Such a shock when they leave suddenly. My thoughts are with you. Take care.
  9. Perses' Pups

    Selective hearing probably

Maybe Clive has found “his person” and is happy that way
  11. Itchy dog

Just a further update on Molly’s itchiness. All has been great until December and the hot, humid days arrived. She had an itchy incident same time the previous year also. We saw a different vet then who just gave her a shot of something that stopped it all. We ( my new vet, as of April last year and I )now think it is environmental/seasonal. My main concern is that if we take her for a walk when it is still quite warm and the sun is directly on her she comes out in red blotches which drive her nuts. As soon as this happens if I can cool her down the redness disappears in less than 10 minutes and she calms down. Obviously we do try to avoid those situations. We visited the vet this morning and we are now trying an antihistamine. She thinks she may just need it through the warmer season. If of course they work. Summer weather doesn’t appear to be much fun for anyone.

What a sweet boy. Maybe he was more interested in “counting sheep”. Lol

Sorry to hear of your loss. Couldn’t imagine being in a quiet, dog empty house. Take care
  15. Basil

Such a cute little dude. I bet you have the best memories. Run free little Basil. Give those magpies a run.
